Li Huan stepped out from behind the pillar.
Ren Xiya crossed her arms, "How did you know I was here?"
Li Huan said, carrying sothing, "I asked Chen Jin. Why didn’t you let co out just now?"
When that man got handsy, he wanted to rush out, but Ren Xiya’s gaze stopped him.
Ren Xiya took two steps to the side and lit a cigarette.
"Do you think I’m an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl? Or are you trying to play the hero? I’ve seen many n like that. If I can’t handle such trivial matters, how can I do my job?"
"That’s not what I ant." Li Huan explained.
"I know you’re not that kind of person. What do you want from ?"
Ren Xiya stood not far away, keeping so distance between them.
Li Huan saw she wasn’t willing to co closer, so he walked over himself, imdiately hit by a strong sll of alcohol.
"How much did you drink?"
"If you’re going to preach then..."
Before Ren Xiya could finish, Li Huan took off his backpack and brought out water and hangover dicine.
"Hurry up and take the dicine. You can have a dessert later."
"You..."
"What about ? I knew you would drink, so I bought you dicine on my way here."
Li Huan placed the water and dicine into Ren Xiya’s hand.
It wasn’t until then that Ren Xiya reacted and swallowed the dicine.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the cake box on the ground.
"Is this the dessert you ntioned?"
"Yeah, strawberry. I’m not here to lecture you; I want to explain my relationship with Doctor Gu." Li Huan said sincerely.
Ren Xiya was a bit unaccustod.
She was used to deceit and manipulation. Having soone suddenly treat her like this, she didn’t know what to say.
Li Huan explained Gu Yingxi’s situation.
"The teacher wanted to help out as much as I could. She’s quite capable, and hiring her is good for the hospital—promotion and raises aren’t far off for ."
"Li Huan, you really are... surprising, but you don’t need to explain to ; there’s nothing that needs explaining between us anyway."
"Even though our relationship might be sowhat improper, we still have a relationship—to make things clear is better, right? If you don’t believe , I can provide a health check report."
"Li Huan, shut up, you’re so noisy." Ren Xiya rubbed her temple.
"Do you believe ?"
"Yeah, can I eat now?" Ren Xiya said.
"You can, but I have to head back to the hospital. You can take it back to eat."
Li Huan handed the bag to Ren Xiya.
Ren Xiya took it and pursed her red lips.
"I’ll wait for you at the apartnt."
Li Huan was montarily stunned, then smiled, "Sure, after all, you know the password."
"Yeah."
Ren Xiya clutched the bag tightly; it felt heavy.
Li Huan happily returned to the hospital, and once his shift resud, his colleagues teased him.
"So, are you in love?"
"Why do you say that?"
"You were downcast a few days ago, clear sign of a fight, and today you’re so cheery. Have you made up?" A colleague asked.
"Stop talking nonsense." Li Huan smiled and shoved his colleague.
"You didn’t deny it, so I got it right."
Laughing and joking, the two headed to the office.
Just as Li Huan sat down, a ssage from Ren Xiya popped up.
"I’m gonna shower and sleep first, wake when you’re back."
"Just sleep, I’m not a beast."
"I would like to. Why? Won aren’t allowed to enjoy?" Ren Xiya replied.
"..."
"Waiting for you."
After reading, Li Huan felt a rush of heat and hastily drank half a glass of water.
Putting the glass down, he rembered he still had to find the missing report for Lin Zhiyi.
He began searching his desk for the report but couldn’t find it.
Opening the drawer, he recalled the previous incident with Liu He, just like Lin Zhiyi, their attention had been diverted.
Thus, he had forgotten about it.
But he clearly placed it here; it couldn’t have vanished.
He could only ask the nurse, "Who else ca into my office?"
"No one, Doctor Li; didn’t you say not to move your things?"
Just as the nurse finished, another young nurse rembered sothing.
"Oh right, Doctor Gu ca by, she brought you food. Doctor Gu just started night shifts at the hospital, her daughter ca too."

The young nurses chuckled at the sight.
Gu Yingxi pulled Nina back, "Nina, don’t be impolite."
Nina nodded, peeking at Li Huan’s hands and the office behind him.

"Nina." Gu Yingxi stopped her, looking helplessly at Li Huan, "She heard you brought her a strawberry cake and got too excited to sleep."
"Huh?" Li Huan was surprised.
Gu Yingxi laughed, "What’s wrong?"
Li Huan was a bit embarrassed but didn’t want to lie to the child.
"Sorry Nina, that cake was for soone else. I’ll get you one another ti."
Nina seed a bit disappointed.
Gu Yingxi’s smile slightly faded, "You don’t have to take what kids say seriously."
Li Huan wasn’t bothered and quickly changed the subject, "Doctor Gu, did you see a patient’s file on my desk?"
"Patient’s file? You an what was piled next to the takeout boxes?"
"Yes, yes."
Li Huan was busy; he hardly had ti to eat, so he ordered takeout.
Sotis he’d take a few bites and then have to see patients, leaving it aside and forgetting.
Gu Yingxi said, "I saw so, but they were crumpled and had oil stains. You piled them with the takeout boxes, so I thought you were going to throw them away, and helped clean up."

Li Huan almost cursed but took a deep breath and held it in.

But then his colleague surreptitiously said.
"Wait, I rember making an extra copy when I last photocopied, I didn’t dare keep it in the office and took it ho instead."

Li Huan hurriedly hung up and called Lin Zhiyi.
"Did you find it?" Lin Zhiyi asked.
"It’s gone."
Li Huan explained, and there was silence on the other end.
After a while, Gong Chen’s voice ca through.
"Do you think Gu Yingxi did it accidentally or on purpose?"
"That... I’m not sure. Besides, our hospital does conduct hygiene checks, I was once fined for forgetting to throw away takeout boxes."
Li Huan doesn’t like to assu the worst of people.
Besides, Gu Yingxi returning and finding a job wasn’t easy, so there was no need for her to do such a thing.
He said, "I will keep my distance from her."
Lin Zhiyi continued, "Could it have been Fu Shu who lodged the complaint?"
