Hospital.
The old man just woke up, and shadows were moving before his eyes.
"You’re awake, just in ti, I’ve made so porridge."
The speaker was Fu Xiuzhu.
She stood at the foot of the bed, poured the steaming porridge into a bowl, and prepared so appetizing side dishes in a small saucer.
The gentle woman held the porridge to her lips and blew on it gently.
"What’s wrong?"
Fu Xiuzhu noticed the old man wasn’t moving and asked.
The old man regained his senses and raised his hand carelessly.
The butler imdiately helped him sit up and reached out to take the bowl from Fu Xiuzhu’s hands.
Fu Xiuzhu dodged and stirred the porridge herself with a spoon.
"Let do it."
She brought the spoon to the old man’s lips, but he did not eat it.
He stared fixedly at Fu Xiuzhu.
"Why so attentive today? Is sothing the matter?"
"What are you talking about? Isn’t it normal for to take care of you?" Fu Xiuzhu chuckled.
The old man asked directly, "Then why didn’t you answer the phone last night? Where did you go?"
Fu Xiuzhu’s hand, holding the spoon, paused.
Then she quickly resud her warm smile.
"Since the last wedding, my relationship with Bai Ruoshu has been strained. I’ve been sleeping poorly, so the doctor prescribed so sleep aids. I fell into a deep sleep once I took them."
"As soon as I heard the news this morning, I rushed over."
As soon as she finished speaking, the door to the hospital room was pushed open.
Gong Yao entered with a middle-aged foreign man.
"Dad, you’re awake. You nearly scared to death! By coincidence, a heart specialist from abroad is here on a business trip, so I brought him along."
The middle-aged man behind him was dressed in a neat suit.
"Hello, I’m Albert. Here’s my business card."
The old man didn’t move, so the butler stepped forward to take the card.
"The old man has a specific dical team, you might have co in vain."
"It’s fine. I just want to offer any help I can. If needed, feel free to call . I’ll head outside now."
Albert nodded slightly and turned to leave the ward.
When he closed the door, he glanced at Fu Xiuzhu standing by the bed.
Gong Yao stepped forward, "Dad, are you feeling better?"
The old man said coldly, "I’m fine, not dead. Didn’t delay your affairs, right?"
Gong Yao was montarily stunned but quickly caught on.
"Dad, I’m sorry. Last night, Ruoshu and I had a little argunt, and she broke my phone."
"Can’t even handle a woman? What was it about this ti?" The old man asked, displeased.
Gong Yao found it difficult to speak.
Fu Xiuzhu sighed, "It was about having children. Gong Yao and I want Ruoshu to give you a grandchild soon, but she refuses. That’s why we argued."
ntioning children made the old man visibly impatient.
"Does Bai Ruoshu still think she’s the eldest daughter of the Bai Family? After marrying into the Gong Family, she must have children! Now, Shi Yan’s son is already born, the family will inevitably favor him more, you can’t even produce a child at your young age?"
"Dad, do we really need to let Liu He’s son live on? Just a premature sickly child..."
Thinking of yet another competition made Gong Yao inexplicably uneasy.
He didn’t notice the old man’s expression had changed.
Fu Xiuzhu imdiately interrupted him, "That’s enough. Whether a premature baby born in this season will survive is still uncertain. Why bother? Instead, you should focus on persuading Bai Ruoshu to get pregnant sooner, so your dad can hold a grandson. Having a child will also earn more trust from Yang Jingwei."
Gong Yao ca to his senses, realizing he had misspoken.
"Dad, I spoke too much."
"That child shall not be ntioned again. It depends on his own fate. If you and Bai Ruoshu can have a child soon, I will give you a grand gift."
The old man ate so porridge and took a towel to wipe his mouth.
Gong Yao and Fu Xiuzhu exchanged glances.
"Dad, rest assured, I will do my best to persuade Bai Ruoshu."
"Hmm."
The old man responded casually, obviously lacking interest.
As if seeing through but saying nothing.
This made Gong Yao and Fu Xiuzhu faintly uneasy.
Seeing this, Fu Xiuzhu quickly changed the subject.
"Let’s not talk about that. The most important thing now is for you to recuperate well."
"Yes, I’m tired and want to sleep a bit more." The old man said.
"Okay, Dad, I’ll ask the doctor about the precautions."
Gong Yao acted very filial.
The old man waved them away.
Once they left, the old man looked up at the butler.
The butler approached, speaking softly, "I checked just now, Albert is indeed a heart specialist from abroad, here for a conference. Nothing unusual."
"You heard what Gong Yao said earlier too, what do you think he’s up to?"
"I... can’t tell." The butler lowered his head.
"What? Afraid of him?" The old man asked coldly.
"No, I just think Fourth Master... is blaming you, and he’s too young, acting rashly." The butler explained.
"Stop sugarcoating it. Gong Chen is the sa age, but doesn’t act so rashly." The old man said.
The butler was montarily speechless.
"You an..."
"I will not hand the family over to soone rash." The old man said, his expression growing sharp again, "But..."
His voice grew softer.
The butler nodded after listening.
...
Outside the door.
Gong Yao ca out of the doctor’s office, noticing Fu Xiuzhu was no longer waiting at the door.
He walked down the corridor and suddenly heard sothing from an empty room nearby.
He stopped and knocked on the door.
After a mont, the door opened, revealing two people inside.
Albert and Fu Xiuzhu.
Albert was adjusting his tie.
Fu Xiuzhu was tidying her hair.
"What’s up?"
"Mom, you’re too bold. What if soone sees you?"
Seeing the two together didn’t surprise Gong Yao.
Albert explained, "Your mother has already shown the old man’s dical records. He can’t do anything now."
"Do you think everyone around him is just decoration?" Gong Yao said with displeasure, "Rember why we brought you here."
Albert waved his hand nonchalantly, "Relax, I won’t let anyone find out."
Fu Xiuzhu also persuaded, "Ah Yao, don’t be too nervous; everything is going according to our plan. Even if sothing really happens to the old man, it will be because Gong Chen and Lin Zhiyi upset him."
"According to the plan?"
Speaking of the plan, Gong Yao’s expression turned ruthless.
"That child hasn’t been dealt with; how is this according to plan? If the Second Young Master is left without an heir, Dad will surely transfer his shares to to counter the Third Young Master. That’s one part of our plan."
Fu Xiuzhu frowned slightly, "Liu He and that child have a strong fate. Even when Mrs. Bai intervened, it almost backfired."
Gong Yao’s face grew even more tense.
Albert smiled, "I specifically went to find so doctors I know at this hospital, and I’ve seen the child’s dical records. Surviving is tough and doesn’t require us to do anything."
Upon hearing this, Gong Yao’s expression improved.
"Really?"
"Ah Yao, Albert is a doctor. If he says the child can’t survive, then it won’t survive. What we should focus on now is..."
The three exchanged knowing smiles.
