Chapter 422: Chapter 422: You’re Not Hard to Train Either
Lin Zhiyi started feeling sleepy not long after hearing Gong Chen speak.
In a daze, she saw Gong Chen walk to the bedside and lightly kiss both her and Xingxing.
Then he opened the door, where Chen Jin was evidently waiting outside for so ti.
“Third Young Master, everything is ready.”
“Mm.”
Gong Chen glanced back into the room before leaving.
Lin Zhiyi wanted to open her eyes but felt as if she were trapped, soon falling into an even deeper sleep.
…
The hospital.
When Du Qian returned to the hospital, he noticed his colleagues giving him strange looks.
He initially thought it was about his situation with Lin Zhiyi.
But before he could explain, a nurse hurried up to him.
“Doctor Du, the director is waiting for you in the conference room.”
Du Qian’s expression tightened, but he maintained his composure. “Do you know what this is about?”
The nurse shook her head and walked away.
Du Qian quickly went to the conference room and opened the door, finding not only the hospital leaders but also a woman with ear-length short hair standing beside them.
It was Qiao Yunke.
Du Qian frowned; yesterday, he had asked Qiao Yunke to take leave and leave Gang City.
Why was she still here?
He imdiately thought of Xingxing’s dical report.
If that was the case, he wasn’t worried anymore.
Du Qian politely stepped forward and said, “Director, if Doctor Qiao said anything, I sincerely apologize. Perhaps she misunderstood the nature of our relationship earlier, but truthfully, we’re not that close, and I already have soone in my heart.”
Du Qian implied Qiao Yunke had feelings for him but was thwarted and now slandering him.
The director listened, but his expression did not soften; instead, it grew even more severe.
Qiao Yunke sneered, “Doctor Du, what are you saying? We never had any relationship to begin with. Why would I care who you have feelings for?”
Du Qian was taken aback, looking at Qiao Yunke in confusion.
The director spoke sternly, “Soone reported that you have ntal health issues. This is the psych evaluation report you secretly took at another hospital. How could you hide sothing so important from us? With such a ntal state, how can you treat patients?”
“Impossible!” Du Qian retorted loudly.
Everyone in the room was startled; Du Qian had always been composed and polite, never raising his voice.
The director beca increasingly convinced of the report’s authenticity.
He tossed the report in front of Du Qian.
“See for yourself.”
Du Qian opened it and found the dical records impeccably detailed.
The diagnosis: he had mania.
Du Qian tore the report to pieces. “Director, this is slander! I don’t have it!”
The director looked at the fragnts on the floor with a grim expression. “If you claim you don’t have it, then go to the psychiatric departnt and get reassessed. I’ll personally oversee it.”
“…”
Du Qian stood frozen in place.
He knew his current ntal state; even if it wasn’t mania, it could very well be sothing else.
How could this happen?
Du Qian felt as if an invisible hand was forcing him into a dead-end.
The director rose angrily. “What? Afraid? Take proper rest for now. We’ll discuss the decisions about your case further.”
“Director…”
Du Qian tried to explain, but the director wouldn’t listen.
He clenched his fists in anger, catching a glimpse of Qiao Yunke from the corner of his eye.
Pointing at her, he imdiately said, “Doctor Qiao can vouch for !”
Qiao Yunke replied expressionlessly, “Doctor Du, you just claid we aren’t that familiar. How could I know whether or not you have ntal illness?”
The words “ntal illness” struck a nerve with Du Qian, and he shouted, “Qiao Yunke! Don’t forget…”
“Don’t forget what, Doctor Du? Speak clearly,” Qiao Yunke retorted.
What else could it be?
It was nothing but the photos and videos with which Du Qian had blackmailed her over the years.
All due to a drunken confession she made to him—he had taken advantage of her inebriated state to coerce her into humiliating actions.
Afterward, Du Qian claid he was drunk too and hadn’t expected her to harbor such inclinations.
His gaze made her feel utterly worthless.
In the years that followed, Du Qian occasionally brought up the incident, compelling her into sha and manipulation, unknowingly leading her to dance to his tune.
This continued because she didn’t want her work to be affected.
Until one man approached her and revealed Du Qian’s college antics to her.
She then realized she had fallen into Du Qian’s trap.
But what truly made her confront it all was what the man said.
“Even if it was your desire, there’s no need to feel ashad. The truly shaful one is the person who exploits it.”
So at this mont, facing Du Qian’s threats, he seed utterly insignificant.
Du Qian was utterly stunned.
That day, he was ordered to take mandatory leave. To avoid alarming past patients, the hospital claid he was ill and suspended his appointnts.
When Du Qian reached the parking lot, he hadn’t yet gotten into his car when his vision suddenly went dark.
When he woke up, he found himself lying in a desolate field.
The deep, guttural sound of breathing—a sound akin to an animal’s—terrified him and brought him to his feet.
So distance away, the grass suddenly began rustling, faster and faster. Du Qian turned and fled.
But before he could run far, a solid black hunting dog leaped onto him and pinned him to the ground.
“Ah! Get away!”
Du Qian struggled and rolled on the ground.
Just then, footsteps sounded around him.
Du Qian imdiately shouted, “Help! Help!”
The hunting dog seed to understand his cries, jumping off him and walking toward the approaching figure at a asured pace.
Eventually, the dog sat pristinely at the man’s feet.
The man’s tall fra cast in backlight revealed sharp, cool edges under the glow.
Du Qian, still reeling in terror, glanced at the man and broke out in a cold sweat.
“Th-Third Young Master.”
Gong Chen gazed down at him frostily, taking a cigarette from his pocket and placing it between his lips.
“Got a light?”
“Y-Yes, yes.”
Du Qian quickly pulled out a lighter from his pocket, lit it, and extended it toward Gong Chen.
Gong Chen coldly murmured, “Seems you’re trainable. Not bad.”
Du Qian’s hand trembled, but he dared not pull the lighter away.
Gong Chen took a drag from the cigarette and exhaled smoke slowly. “Doctor Du, I admire you—in a way. I, too, enjoy controlling everything. So let’s see how long it takes to control you.”
Behind him, Chen Jin interjected, “I’m betting three rounds.”
Du Qian’s lighter fell to the ground. “Three… rounds?”
Chen Jin retrieved a hunting rifle from behind him, loaded the ammunition in front of Du Qian, then respectfully handed it to Gong Chen.
Gong Chen, cigarette still in his mouth, put on leather gloves and took the rifle.
“Run,” he said.
When Du Qian realized Gong Chen was serious, he bolted.
Boom—a shot landed just by his foot.
Gong Chen muttered, “A bit to the left.”
Du Qian, cornered, had no choice but to head left.
Another shot ca, nearly grazing his leg.
“Go further left,” Gong Chen ordered.
He aid at Du Qian again.
Knowing the next shot would definitely hit him, Du Qian collapsed to the ground.
“Third Young Master, I was wrong! It wasn’t —it was President Wen! She’s the one who made falsely accuse Lin Zhiyi!”
Gong Chen lowered the rifle and stubbed out his cigarette. “You’d better hold onto President Wen tightly, or next ti, the muzzle will be aid at your…”
He pressed the still-hot barrel to Du Qian’s chest.
Du Qian, motionless, nodded imdiately.
Gong Chen tossed the rifle to Chen Jin and walked away.
“Two blanks should suffice for him.”
“Mm,” Chen Jin replied with a click of his tongue, noting that Du Qian, despite acting so self-assured, was only bold enough to bully won.
“Where’d the dog co from?” Gong Chen asked while walking, removing his gloves and sniffing his hands to ensure Lin Zhiyi wouldn’t notice any odors.
“Third Young Master, since you ntioned Miss Lin is sensitive to the cold and needs sothing nourishing, I visited the sheep farm and borrowed the owner’s dog. It’s actually quite obedient,” Chen Jin explained.
…
Du Qian got to his feet and imdiately dialed Wen Qing’s number.
“President Wen, you have to save !”
