Li Huan’s face turned a shade paler in the wind.
Realizing sothing, he quickly raised his hand to rub his cheeks. “This wind is so cold. Doesn’t feel like autumn at all.”
“Li Huan.” Lin Zhiyi kept staring at him, as if she wouldn’t rest until she got an answer.
“Because… because Sang Ran’s illness required a warr place for recovery. Didn’t she co back looking much better? It was purely for treatnt.”
Li Huan rubbed his face as he explained, but his gaze wandered uneasily.
Lin Zhiyi nodded. “Alright.”
Li Huan thought she didn’t believe him and hurriedly added, “He really didn’t do anything with Sang Ran. In his heart, there’s only you. For the past three years, the thing he regrets most is using the wrong thods to make you stay.”
Lin Zhiyi was amused by Li Huan’s anxious expression. “I didn’t even say anything.”

Chen Jin handed over a docunt detailing how Du Qian’s previous relationship had ended in failure.
“When you ssaged , I imdiately asked soone to contact Du Qian’s university classmates and professors to gather information.”
“There’s more to this relationship. The girl’s parents even filed for a restraining order to protect her safety.”
“They suspected Du Qian of psychological manipulation, but the chat logs between him and the girl weren’t sufficient as evidence. Not only that, Du Qian continued to harass her afterward and even coerced her into willingly getting pregnant.”
“Because the girl admitted to it being voluntary, the matter ended only when her parents secretly arranged for her to transfer to another school.”
“A man like him won’t give up so easily. He seems to enjoy not just control, but also the challenge.”
Gong Chen read through the docunts, deep in thought.
Before he could speak, Chen Jin added, “Third Young Master, this matter also involves Miss Lin. I think it’s best not to hide it from her—otherwise, it might create more misunderstandings between you two.”
Gong Chen instinctively wanted to protect Lin Zhiyi from harm and preferred to handle issues privately for her sake.

“Qiao Yunke is a doctor in the diagnostics departnt. Almost all the tests ordered by Du Qian were handled by her. It’s likely that Xingxing’s reports were also altered by her.”
Just as Gong Chen was about to say sothing, Lin Zhiyi’s voice suddenly ca from outside the door.
The next mont, the study door was pushed open forcefully.
“How dare you—”

“What is this?”
“These are Qiao Yunke’s records. I didn’t tell you earlier because the investigation wasn’t complete, and I didn’t want you to panic over Xingxing’s situation. Now that Chen Jin has brought the evidence over, you should see it for yourself.”
As he spoke, Gong Chen handed over another docunt on Du Qian.
Lin Zhiyi hesitantly opened it to find Du Qian’s university records inside.
So, Gong Chen hadn’t intended to deceive her or keep secrets from her.
Gong Chen looked at the approaching Lin Zhiyi and Li Huan as they entered the room one after the other.
“What were you two arguing about outside?”
Lin Zhiyi and Li Huan exchanged glances, shaking their heads like rattles.
In unison, they said, “Nothing, nothing.”
Li Huan covered his mouth and muttered in a low voice, “Told you it was a misunderstanding, but you wouldn’t listen.”
Lin Zhiyi rolled her eyes. “Can you stop pausing every ti you talk?”
“That’s called being cautious.”

When the two finished squabbling, they realized Gong Chen and Chen Jin were quietly watching them like adults observing bickering kids.
“Done chatting?” Gong Chen asked, looking at the two like they were amusing distractions.
Li Huan cleared his throat and clenched his fist, trying to appear serious. “Back to business. Now that we’ve uncovered Du Qian’s true nature, what’s the next step?”
Lin Zhiyi felt a chill down her spine as she looked through the docunts.
She could hardly believe that such a dangerous person had been lurking around her for over three years.
The thought of Xingxing made her imdiately say, “I’ll take Xingxing and stay away from him.”
Chen Jin shook his head. “I’m afraid that won’t work. On the surface, he seems mild-mannered, but in reality, he’s extre. The most concerning thing is that he hasn’t left any evidence so far. He’s not likely to let you go so easily. Plus, you’ve been in contact with him for three years now. We don’t know what leverage he might have over you.”
Lin Zhiyi’s face turned grim. She couldn’t think of what else Du Qian might have done in these three years.
What’s more, Xingxing trusted Du Qian deeply and told him everything. There was no way to know exactly what had been said.
To her, Du Qian now seed like a ticking ti bomb.
Gong Chen walked up to her and said in a low voice, “He won’t dare co here. You and Xingxing are safe.”
Lin Zhiyi caught a strange undertone in his voice.
“You don’t seem worried at all. Is there sothing else you know?”
“I left my phone at the couple’s hotel not just to prove he planted a tracker in your phone, but also to test another theory.”
