Chapter 310: Chapter 310 Zhiyi, I’m Sorry Chapter 310: Chapter 310 Zhiyi, I’m Sorry In a daze, a tissue appeared before Lin Zhiyi.

Just as she was about to refuse, a drop of moisture fell onto the back of her hand.

“Thank you,” she said in a subdued voice.

“He’s fine. Let’s go outside first,” Li Huan reassured.

Lin Zhiyi responded with a grunt, turned around, hastily wiped her cheeks, and briskly left the bedroom.

Chen Jin also ca out with Li Huan.

Chen Jin’s complexion looked off, but his professionalism remained intact.

He walked up to Lin Zhiyi and, expressing his regret, said, “Miss Lin, I apologize. I should not have acted so impulsively.”

Lin Zhiyi shook her head and retorted, “Have I always been surrounded by people like this?”

“Yes,” Chen Jin explained. “It’s easy to enter the ga, but hard to leave. There are no threats in this world from the dead.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Zhiyi’s face turned ashen.

She thought that as long as she stayed away from Gong Chen, everything would return to peace.

It turned out her life was so valuable, a thought that was laughable in itself.

They belittled her on the one hand while spending a fortune to eliminate her on the other.

A heavy silence fell over the spacious living room.

Li Huan nudged Chen Jin to ease the mood, saying, “Okay, stop scaring her. After today’s events, there should be so peace for a while.”

Chen Jin nodded and glanced at his watch, “I have to go out for a bit; I’ll leave this place in your hands.”

Lin Zhiyi looked at Chen Jin curiously. With Gong Chen still in bed, it didn’t make sense for Chen Jin to leave.

“Assistant Chen, where are you going?”

“To deliver sothing.”

Without further explanation, Chen Jin left the house directly.

Lin Zhiyi frowned, her body pressed down by Li Huan as she was seated.

“Rest for a bit; I’ll make so tea.”

“Okay.”

Lin Zhiyi rubbed her muddled head.

Li Huan seed to notice her agitation and, while searching for tea, attempted to divert her attention.

“Don’t think too much about it. Didn’t the Third Young Master say he wanted you to go and study further? When that happens, you’ll be far from the mountains and the Emperor; they won’t be able to control you.”

Lin Zhiyi didn’t respond.

For so reason, whenever further studies were ntioned, she felt a heaviness in her heart, but she couldn’t pinpoint why.

At that mont, Li Huan let out a curious sound.

“Why is there a tea canister here? I’ve never seen him drink this kind before.”

Lin Zhiyi got up and approached, and when she saw the tea canister in Li Huan’s hand, she thought of the collection of tea canisters in her own cabinet.

They were identical, even down to the seal.

Li Huan leaned in to examine the seal more closely, “This year the tea shop sent it over, it’s a not-for-sale version, doesn’t he like to take out the tea and store it in ceramic canisters?”

Lin Zhiyi was startled, casting a glance at the cabinet, which was adorned with various traditional ceramic canisters, yet this particular box had not been unsealed.

Certain things began to clarify in her mind.

She pursed her lips, intentionally ignoring, “Just plain water is fine, his tea looks quite precious.”

“No problem, he won’t mind such things. I’ll just make so at random,” said Li Huan.

Li Huan prepared the tea that Gong Chen often drank.

After brewing the tea, they sat down together.

Lin Zhiyi took a few sips of tea, feeling more settled.

“Feeling better?” Li Huan asked.

Lin Zhiyi clenched the tea cup and said faintly, “What do you want to say?”

Li Huan smiled, “What could I possibly say to you? We have no misunderstandings between us. I hope you could give soone else a chance.”

“Misunderstanding? Is what I’ve been through rely a misunderstanding?” Lin Zhiyi said with a cold laugh.

“Lin Zhiyi, it’s not so easy to have it all. Besides, you need to be alive to get there,” said Li Huan.

Lin Zhiyi understood Li Huan’s point.

But how could she convey the grievances of her past and present life?

The words reached her lips but ultimately transford into a wry, faint smile.

“Li Huan, even if I endure, I might still end up dead.”

“But…”

Lin Zhiyi interrupted, “After all, it would have been better if nothing had happened that night.”

Finishing her statent, she put down her teacup, stood up, and grabbed her bag.

“It’s too late. It’s not appropriate for to stay here. I’ll head back first.”

Not giving Li Huan a chance to speak, Lin Zhiyi walked straight to the entrance to change her shoes.

Unexpectedly, Li Huan followed her out.

“Lin Zhiyi, if he hadn’t been willing that night, do you really think you could have touched him? If that were the case, Song Wanqiu had three whole years of opportunity, yet she never succeeded even once.”

Lin Zhiyi paused in the act of changing her shoes, then resud as if nothing was amiss, bowing her head to put on her footwear.

“It’s all in the past.”

“Lin Zhiyi!” Li Huan raised his voice, “Then, for his sake in saving you tonight, wait until he wakes up before leaving.”

“I…”

Just as Lin Zhiyi was about to refuse, Li Huan took out a dicine box.

“He still has injuries on his hand that I forgot to take care of. Help him out.”

Lin Zhiyi hesitated for a few seconds but finally reached out to take the dicine box: “Alright.”

Lin Zhiyi entered the bedroom, where only the lamp on the bedside was lit.

The soft halo cast a faint golden glow on the man’s sleeping face, a tranquility she had never seen before.

She lingered at the door for a long while, making sure Gong Chen was still sound asleep before she sat down beside the bed.

His hand lay powerlessly atop the snow-white quilt, blood traces prominent on his knuckles.

Lin Zhiyi opened the dicine box, took out a cotton swab, and disinfectant.

Worried that the disinfectant might sting, she blew on it while dabbing it on Gong Chen’s wound.

In truth, she was afraid he would wake up; she didn’t know how to face this man.

Should she thank him or say she hates him?

Reconciling both was truly difficult.

He made her suffer so much, yet it was he that allowed her to survive the overt and covert battles.

But still, the outco remained unchangeable.

Lin Zhiyi finished treating Gong Chen’s wound and was about to get up when her hand was grasped by his.

She moved her wrist, but he held it tighter, even causing her hand to ache.

She imdiately lifted her other hand and was about to swing it down when the man on the bed called out in a daze.

“Zhiyi.”

Thinking he was awake, Lin Zhiyi said angrily, “Let go.”

“Zhiyi, I’m sorry,” he murmured with eyes closed, his voice weak.

“…”

Lin Zhiyi’s hand froze, and tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes.

She was angrier than before, her hand flying towards Gong Chen with force.

But in the end, she stopped re centiters away, and her clenched fist forced itself down anyway.

What’s the point?

What good is an apology now!

Lin Zhiyi leaned back slightly, trying hard to regulate her breathing, attempting to suppress the grievances and pain deep inside.

Once everything cald down, she didn’t dwell on it any longer and just rested her head, waiting for Gong Chen to let go of her hand.

Unknowingly, she fell asleep beside the bed.

Deep into the night, Gong Chen opened his eyes amidst a cold sweat and turned to look at the woman beside the bed.

Her long hair spread across her back; her fair, tranquil face was exquisitely delicate, with raven-like eyelashes casting a soft shadow and her lips a rosy hue.

To Gong Chen, it was like a fatal attraction.

He slowly leaned in towards Lin Zhiyi’s lips, but she suddenly furrowed her brows.

He stopped his motion, his eyes cold, and couldn’t help a self-deprecating laugh.

Does she even hate him in her dreams?

But Lin Zhiyi… letting you go really isn’t that easy.

Gong Chen lifted their interlocked hands to his lips, lightly touching them, then carefully tucked the strands of hair on Lin Zhiyi’s cheek behind her ear.

“Sleep. When you wake up, you’ll hate again.”
