In the following days, it was Godfery Shaw who took charge of Nancy Allen’s interferon injections.

He wouldn’t let her feel sad alone, nor let her imrse in that reactive pain. Whether Nancy was vomiting or feeling uncomfortable, Godfery Shaw was always by her side.

Godfery Shaw did many things personally while taking care of Nancy, and everyone saw his efforts.

Mrs. Allen watched all this and couldn’t help saying, "Godfery Shaw, thank you for your hard work."

What Godfery Shaw did exceeded what they, as parents, could do.

Godfery Shaw softly said, "I’m just saving myself..."

But no one heard this sentence.

Godfery Shaw’s life wasn’t much better than Julius Shaw’s. While Julius faced dark malice, Godfery didn’t have more than Julius.

He was rely numbly living in this world, not knowing what aning his life held.

And Nancy was the aning of his life; he couldn’t let Nancy die.

...

Over the next period, Nancy’s health seed to gradually improve. As she didn’t need chemotherapy for the ti being, and with the treatnt of various dications, her condition slowly stabilized.

It was like a transitional period before pain, providing a short ti for rest and recovery.

Since confirming her illness, Nancy seldom went out.

Each day, she would at most take a walk outside the Imperial Garden with Godfery Shaw as exercise.

Whenever she walked a bit farther, everyone would worry and accompany her.

Initially, Nancy didn’t mind this, but Basil Smith suddenly got busy.

Godfery Shaw also started receiving more frequent phone calls.

Nancy, being smart, guessed that sothing might have occurred at Godfery Shaw’s company, even though nobody told her directly.

Godfery Shaw hadn’t managed the company for a long ti. During the first three months, it was Julius Shaw who couldn’t manage due to that, and now that she’s fallen ill, Godfery Shaw completely neglected the company. While Emma Lewis could delegate so tasks to her parents, everything on Godfery Shaw’s side fell onto Basil Smith.

Basil Smith’s busyness, along with the occasional calls to Godfery Shaw’s phone, made Nancy realize that this couldn’t go on.

She couldn’t let everyone keep accompanying her.

Sophie Allen and Emily Allen had to attend school, her brother had to return to the army, and Godfery Shaw and Emma Lewis’s companies couldn’t be left unattended.

Everyone had their own lives and couldn’t just accompany her.

She cared for those around her, so she couldn’t hold them back.

Only if she had her own things to do and showed an improvent in her condition, would everyone feel at ease.

After breakfast, Nancy changed out of the ho clothes she’d worn for so long.

Seeing her change clothes, Emma Lewis, who was unsure of so docunt she was reading, naturally put it down and ca over: "Why are you wearing outdoor clothes today? Where do you want to go? I’ll accompany you."

As Emma Lewis spoke, Mr. Allen and Mrs. Allen also ca over.

It was like this before, whenever Nancy went out a bit farther, even just to the orchard or tea garden in the Imperial Garden, everyone would follow.

But Nancy pulled Godfery Shaw over and then said to everyone, "I’ve been feeling quite well lately and want to visit the flower shop. You all don’t have to follow , just take care of your own matters. Godfery Shaw accompanying is enough."

Emma Lewis was the first to refuse: "What do you need to check at the shop? I’ve assigned a talented person to your greenhouse. You don’t need to show up; you just take care of yourself."

Edward Allen also shook his head, "Sister, your only task now is to recuperate well. You don’t need to handle anything else, whatever you want to do, we can help you."

Nancy bowed her head and quietly said, "I just find it boring, staying at ho all day is too stifling, and I end up thinking only about my illness. It makes want to find sothing to do. The greenhouse has a manager, and they won’t need to do much. I’m just going to take my mind off things, you don’t need to worry."

Upon hearing this, everyone realized that their way of protecting Nancy might not be right.

Out of concern and due to her illness, they made her free to do nothing but focus on her health, without considering whether confining her within the Imperial Garden might impart so kind of pressure on her, causing her to think excessively about her condition?

Realizing this, Emma Lewis pushed aside Edward Allen and took hold of Nancy’s hand, feeling tender: "Alright, you go visit the flower shop. I’ll give you another task: observe Nora, whom I assigned there. She’s a prospective candidate we might promote in the future, test her character for ."

Nancy understood Emma Lewis’s intention, it was just to find sothing for her to do. Such a recomnded employee surely wouldn’t need to be tested.

But she still obediently replied, "Okay, I’ll evaluate her character for you."

This was the first ti since getting sick that Nancy left without everyone tagging along until she left.

Everyone looked at each other.

Robert Reed spoke, "You all better take care of your own stuff. We’re here in the Imperial Garden to accompany Nancy, not to do nothing, which only confines her and makes her feel uncomfortable."

Edward Allen said wearily, "My leave is almost up, I need to return to the army. If my sister faces any special situation, make sure to inform promptly."

Emily Allen held on to Sophie Allen’s hand: "I’ll take my sister to school."

Emma Lewis also nodded and went to the company.

Everyone left, leaving Mr. Allen, Mrs. Allen, and Robert Reed, the three older folks.

Mr. Allen said seriously, "I have retired."

Robert Reed proudly raised his chin slightly, "As if I haven’t retired either!"

Then they each snorted and turned around, heading back.

After all, these old guys didn’t have much else to do, so staying close to Nancy was better than worrying from afar.

Nancy and Godfery Shaw went to the greenhouse together.

This ti, Nancy almost didn’t recognize her greenhouse. The entire layout was rearranged. Previously, fewer flowers were displayed, adding a sense of ssiness, but now, there were even more varieties than before. Yet, with the proper layout, the whole greenhouse appeared much more spacious.

Inside the greenhouse was a woman wearing a professional skirt, soone Nancy t for the first ti—her store manager.

Manager Vance, upon seeing Nancy, greeted her with a smile: "Hello, Miss Allen."

"Do you know ?"

"Yes, when Mr. Lewis sent here, he showed your photo. Soone like Miss Allen, once seen in photos, isn’t easily forgotten. Our Mr. Lewis said everything should follow Miss Allen’s preferences first."

Nancy smiled, as this was indeed Emma’s style.

She glanced around the greenhouse and wondered, "Where’s Ruby Carter?"
