Joel sat in the passenger seat while Dexter and I sat at the back.

I couldn’t tell how long we had been on the road or how many turns we had taken. All I knew was that all the cars started splitting up after we left the mountain road.

It was a diversion in hopes of shaking off Geno Society’s surveillance.

But it wasn’t hard for Geno Society to find out the Rebels’ base. They just hadn’t had the ti to deal with them for now.

Carol might have thought that she was smart, yet she clearly couldn’t hold a candle compared to the mastermind of Geno Society.

The fact that Geno Society managed to survive despite being outsmarted by her suggested that the mastermind was smarter than her.

Besides, the mastermind had clearly given up resisting, deliberately exposing many of their laboratories I figured that not everyone within Geno Society was united. I even suspected that the mastermind was using the Rebels under Carol’s control and the police to clean up their own ss.

After all, the laboratory administrators who were exposed were ambitious individuals like Daisy and Nancy. They were vying to take control of the entire Geno Society in order to rise up to the pinnacle of wealth and power.

"There’ll be a huge war between the Geno Society and the Rebels. We might not be safe staying here." Dexter held my hand before we got out of the car.

He was well aware that I had deliberately co with him to the Rebels. I wanted to escalate the conflict between Geno Society and the Rebels so that the mastermind would lose their cool.

"As long as I’m with you, it doesn’t matter where I am or if we’re safe or otherwise," I whispered while looking at him.

"Do the two of you really think nobody can see through your act? Stop your lovey-dovey act. Even if others can’t tell what you’re up to, I can." Joel got out of the car and opened the door for us smugly.

He then looked at warily, only continuing when the driver got out of the car, ’I know what you’re planning to do."

He knew I was about to use Carol.

"Are you going to stop ?’ I asked, looking at Joel coldly.

He looked at cryptically. After a while, he smiled and reached out his hand. "What are you talking about? I look forward to working with you!"

Dexter’s expression darkened as he slapped Joel’s hand away. ’Don’t touch my wife."

Joel rolled his eyes and said, "You’ve been repeating the sa thing since we were younger!"

I laughed. It did seem like the case.

Sion was very attached to Dexter when he was younger and would always glue himself to him.

My appearance later on caused him to "lose" Dexter’s favoritism for him. As such, he was rather hostile to in the beginning.

It was only after he was beaten up by that our relationship started to get better.

But Sion would still get jealous of both and Dexter. He would complain about favoring Dexter while also grumbling that Dexter only had eyes for .

"You’ve always favored him, even before you understood what feelings were," Joel said with a tinge of jealousy as he leaned against the car door.

He continued, "He would beat up whenever I insisted on clinging to you while sleeping, and you never stopped him. But you would be against it whenever I tried to retaliate."

I got out of the car and reached out to Dexter. He grabbed my hand and slowly got out of the car before taking his crutches from Joel

I recalled that the three of us were once healthy and running freely here.

"Carol must’ve deliberately made the old orphanage building as the Rebels’ temporary base. It was also the place where she killed

Having been abandoned, this place was looking rather desolated.

Even if the most dangerous place could be the safest, it was clear that Carol had no intentions of hiding from the start.

She was also foolishly waiting for the mastermind behind Geno Society.

Carol had had it easy all these years-hiding her identity, planning everything, and thinking that she had gradually managed to push Geno Society into a corner.

She was starting to get a little full of herself.

She couldn’t even tell who her true enemy was, nor did she know their abilities.

"If you don’t talk to her, she might really end up causing her own downfall and dragging the Rebels down with her," I said, having an ominous feeling about it.

I had a feeling that things weren’t as simple as it seed. Geno Society had been planning for years, and they wouldn’t be easily thrown off course.

Perhaps the exposure of the few laboratories was really just the mastermind trying to clean up their ss, and we had been used all along.

I even had a terrifying thought that the Rebels might just be sothing that was deliberately created and " nurtured" by Geno Society.

However, I had no evidence and dared not say anything that might cause panic and suspicion among

everyone. I anxiously looked toward Dexter, wanting to find resonance from him. He was the only one who could understand .

He glanced over and shook his head at . He knew what I was thinking and fearing, signaling for to keep quiet. At this point, we could only take one step at a ti.

Joel brought us to what used to be the orphanage’s hall. From there, he found a chanism that opened the passage to a secret room. As we walked down, we arrived at the current base of the Rebels.

"Welco to the Rebels." Carol had finally stopped pretending. She was laughing maniacally in a red dress. It was the sa dress I had on when I was lying dead in the glass display. She truly was trying to compete with in everything. I was not the reason she was dressed and dolled up so exquisitely today. Clearly, she was aiming for Dexter.

I huffed as jealousy washed over instantly. Carol was truly obsessive about him.

"You’re really casually using what you’ve taken from others, aren’t you?" I asked her coldly.

The Rebels was founded by my parents and Andy. The organization should have belonged to after they passed away, but it had fallen into Carol’s hands.

She smiled and said, "Whoever has the power gets to keep it. That’s just how the world works, and it’s the way of humanity."

She wanted to tell that she was capable of taking everything away from .

"The Rebels is just the beginning. I still want to take more from you,’ Carol said, looking at provocatively before landing her gaze on Dexter.

She was hinting that she would take Dexter away from .

"You can try," I replied with a sneer

I might not be confident about anything else, but I was more confident in his love for than in myself.

Carol’s gaze fell on Dexter’s leg. A pained look flashed in her eyes before it was replaced with sothing sinister. "She’ll only hurt you"

He looked at her coldly before reaching out to pull behind him. "I’ll gladly let her do it."

Carol tightened her fists. Before she could continue, Joel interrupted her and said, "Oh, don’t just stand there! Co and take a seat!"

After that, he told Ewan, "Go get a wheelchair, Dad."

Ewan looked at Dexter and aningfully before turning away to get a wheelchair.

"You’d better not be too arrogant. You’ll lose the entirety of the Rebels if Geno Society decides to co after you," I said, glaring angrily at Carol.

"Geno Society?" She laughed, overly confident. "They’re in a ss right now, and they can barely keep themselves together. Do they really have the energy to co after us? Even if I bring the Rebels into the open, they can only watch us helplessly.
