The attic of the mountaintop villa had been cleaned thoroughly.
Under my threats, Damien had converted the attic into a sterile ward, equipped with all sorts of dical equipnt.
Dexter had yet to regain consciousness. He had to stay in a sterile environnt in order to prevent his wounds from getting infected.
He had been living in the basent for so long. Now, he could feel the sun’s warmth
Dexter slept for a whole 12 hours before slowly waking up. When he did, he looked at the sunlight outside the window. He probably thought he was still dreaming.
I continue to sit beside the bed watching him.
He wasn’t at all shocked when he first saw . Instead, he smiled and said, ’This dream is wonderful, Sophia." It was a wonderful dream, with sunlight and around.
I just stared at him, my mood looking glum.
It took Dexter so ti to realize that he wasn’t dreaming. He imdiately shot up, his expression started changing. "Sophia..."
He had a nervous expression as he looked around anxiously. There wasn’t any hint of color on his face due to his severe injuries.
The chain on his neck clinked loudly. Dexter looked down in shock, gripping the tal chain that stretched all the way to the corner of the room.
"Sophia." He started to look anxious.
I looked at him coldly as I slowly made my way over. He had clearly realized that I had regained all my mories.
"You’re angry with , aren’t you, Sophia?" Dexter looked nervous, staring down like a guilty puppy.
He thought I would bla him for taking matters into his own hands, for ssing with my mories, and for planning all of this.
"Who do you think you are?" I reached out to pull at the chain around his neck, forcing him to look at . How dare you be so presumptuous to think that what you’re doing is for my own good, Dexter?"
Dexter’s eyes reddened as he looked away, unable to et my eyes.
"You brought back repeatedly and erased my mories, only to push to soone else?" I chuckled coldly. "How dare you, Dexter?’
He nervously clenched his fists. "Sophia..."
He couldn’t say anything else other than my na.
"He’s awake," Damien said, standing begrudgingly at the door. He looked at Dexter and started to explain, "It’s got nothing to do with . I didn’t say anything, she..."
"Leave!" I yelled, looking at him angrily.
Damien swiftly turned around and fled. It was as if he knew that I might kill him if he didn’t leave fast enough. "Sophia," Dexter carefully called for .
My eyes were red, and my body trembled with anger.
He looked down diffidently, unable to et my gaze. Under the sterile bedding was his leg, which wasn’t fully healed.
"Dexter," I called out, cruelly pressing my hand against the wound on his leg. "Does it hurt?"
My tears flowed uncontrollably.
Dexter frowned and trembled in pain, yet his gaze remained downcast.
"How dare you hurt your body? You’re mine-every inch of your body is mine. Did you get my permission to do this?’ I asked, choked with emotions.
He did not reply to .
"If you dare to ss with my mories again, I’ll kill you first before committing suicide, Dexter." I pulled at the chain, forcing Dexter to face once again.
His eyes were red as he looked at , and he only spoke after a while, "Sophia."
He wanted to tell sothing but seed too afraid to speak.
"Let leave, Sophia." Dexter wanted to leave to continue with his plan.
"Dream on." I pulled at his chain. "I’ve thrown the key away. No one will be able to let you out."
"Sophia," he pleaded.
"Tell who exactly is the mastermind behind Geno Society." I grabbed his neck.
Dexter was taken aback. He then averted his gaze, seemingly fearful. "I’ve not seen them."
"You never lie to my face, Dexter." I slowly tightened my grip around his neck.
He frowned, keeping his lips sealed tight.
"It’s soone you know or are familiar with, right? Otherwise, why wouldn’t you dare to tell ?" I made a guess.
Dexter continued to remain silent.
"I’m not in a hurry. I’ll see how long you can keep this up." I let go of Dexter and walked over to get so water for him.
He was rather stubborn, even defiantly refusing to drink water. It was as if he would do anything just to leave .
"Aren’t you going to drink?" I asked with a frown. He remained mum.
I took a sip of water before grabbing his head and kissing him.
Dexter was taken aback, coughing after choking from the water I had passed him. I continued to drink water and force-fed it to him.
He remained stunned for the longest ti. He probably did not expect to force-feed him water after I regained my mories.
"Are you still not going to drink it?" I asked him with a frown. He huffed and still refused to drink the water. I continued to feed him by mouth. He did not resist it, making wonder if he was doing it on purpose.
I ended up getting frustrated instead and pushed the cup of water aside. ’If you don’t want to drink it, so be it!" Sure enough, it seed like I always made a mistake when it ca to Dexter. Just as I turned to leave, he suddenly reached out to carefully hold onto my finger.
I turned to look at him with tears welling up in my eyes once again. ’Apologize to , Dexter."
Dexter’s eyes were red as well. He was as pale as a sheet and looked extrely fragile.
"I’m sorry." He was always so obedient despite hurting badly.
"What did you do wrong?" I asked, pushing his hand away.
"I shouldn’t have ssed with your mories without asking for your permission, Dexter replied like a misbehaved child.
But what I wanted him to reflect on was the fact that he shouldn’t have hard himself. He had done it during the fire back then, and now, it happened again with his leg.
"Will you do it again next ti?" I asked hoarsely.
Dexter stopped replying, which felt like an admission.
"Think about what you’ve done. I won’t let you leave until you understand your mistakes. As for Geno Society’s mastermind, I’ve already had my return announced. I don’t need you to tell their identity. They’ll co to instead,’ I said quietly before walking away.
Dexter sat in shock. He hurried to get down from the bed, yet he fell onto the ground. ’Sophia!"
I stood outside the door and closed my eyes, feeling a pang of hurt.
He would never tell the identity of the mastermind of Geno Society if I didn’t push him like this. He would just keep it a secret to himself and try to deal with it by himself.
Dexter had always faced everything on his own
"Sophia!" He crawled toward the entrance, yet was held back by the chain.
He wasn’t surprised that I would resort to forced confinent-because I had done it before. Thinking that we could escape Geno Society’s surveillance and control, I had locked both of us up.
"Sophia!" Dexter kept calling my na in a choked voice.
I hid outside the door and slowly closed my eyes as tears stread down my face. I felt a painful ache in my chest.
I had to admit that emotions truly were a person’s Achilles’ heel-but they could also beco a shield.
Dexter had used this emotional strength to carry him through. He survived the fire from before and the recent explosion.
"Please don’t go, Sophia!" he cried out my na in choked sobs, struggling and tugging against the chain. I eventually gave in. I had to admit that he was now my Achilles’ heel.
I turned and walked back into the room, seeing Dexter sprawled out on the floor in a sorry state. I slowly crouched down and choked out the words, "Do you really think that I’m heartless and won’t love you back, Dexter? Was that why you would recklessly harm yourself?"
He was stunned in place, looking at while trembling. He was probably ignoring all his pain at that mont. I said, ’You’ve won, Dexter, just as you wished. I love you, more than you think."
