Damien suddenly beca incredibly resolute. He refused to answer no matter how much I threatened him.

It seed like Dexter was well-prepared. He must have blackmailed Damien using sothing he was even fearful of

Since Damien wasn’t planning to talk for now, I wasn’t planning to kill him off either.

I contemplated for a bit after releasing him. "Do you think that I wouldn’t be able to find him just because you refused to talk?"

I chuckled coldly. It seed like Damien and Dexter had underestimated .

Damien brought Ms. Ewing back from the sanatorium. She was to take care of and the children.

"Now that the police have taken Carol away, it’s the best ti to reclaim control of the Rebels, miss. Why would you..." she asked, perplexed. She couldn’t understand why I was holding back.

"The mbers of the Rebels have long been purged and replaced by Carol. You’re too naive if you really think that they were still the sa group of people who were left by my parents back then." I coldly chuckled.

"Besides, her ultimate goal is also to eliminate Geno Society. Why not take advantage of her to get things done?"

Ms. Ewing was taken aback. She said nervously, ’But Carol is cruel and bloodthirsty, miss. Your parents didn’t establish the Rebels to promote violence. She’s tainting their original intent!"

After a mont of silence, I said, ’She’ll be dealt with by the law since she’s committed cris. What we need to do now is to find Dexter.’

Ms. Ewing looked at in shock. "You want to find Dexter? Isn’t he already dead? He..

"He wouldn’t have died," I interrupted her.

Ms. Ewing looked at for the longest ti. "Have you truly fallen for him, miss? But this man is dangerous. He has tried to obstruct your plans countless tis.

"Our plan might’ve succeeded long ago if it weren’t for him. You wouldn’t have lost your mories and remained trapped with the Coleman family, becoming a completely different person’

She was still wary of Dexter.

"Dexter was the only one who had t the mastermind of Geno Society. We have to find him if we want to uncover everything," I said.

Had I fallen for him?

I couldn’t describe what I was feeling at that mont, nor did I know how to describe what I felt for Dexter. All I knew was that it had to be him.

After a while, Ms. Ewing said softly, "Dexter went to et Damien the night before his accident."

They must have conspired sothing. I was aware that Damien might be the only person who knew where Dexter was currently, but I couldn’t do anything for the ti being if he refused to talk.

"You used to take care of Sarah, didn’t you, Ms. Ewing?" I asked, looking at Ms. Ewing.

She was stunned before giving a nod. ’I was originally with Geno Society. As they needed the sponsorship of the elite families in Huma, I was assigned to the Coleman family and worked under Mr. Miguel Coleman’

"I was considered a long-ti mber of the Coleman family. That was why when Sarah ca to the Coleman residence, Mr. Coleman assigned to care for her."

I asked, "Miguel had been the one protecting Sarah all these while, yet she has always believed that it was Andy?’

Ms. Ewing nodded and said, "Mr. Coleman has excellent penmanship. To spare Sarah’s feelings, he mimicked Andy’s tone and handwriting to exchange letters with her."

I nodded. It wasn’t easy for Miguel to love soone to that point. After all, the Coleman family was one of the top elite families in the Huma business circle.

Ms. Ewing continued, "Mr. Coleman ntioned that Sarah must never leave the villa. There would be no room for negotiation if she was found by Andy’s n.

"But one day, she uncovered the secret. She realized the letters she had been receiving weren’t from Andy, but from soone else. She went mad, thinking that Mr. Coleman had deliberately imprisoned her. She attacked him before disappearing altogether.’

After Sarah left the villa, she must have been found by Andy’s n and was offered to Geno Society.

The success rate in using her perfect genes for cloning and genetic experints would be higher, and the quality of the experintal subjects would be better.

I said, ’You ntioned that the Rebels were founded by my parents and Andy. But considering Andy’s willingness to sacrifice his loved one, he didn’t look like he had a falling out with the Geno Society."

I wondered what caused the rift between Andy and Geno Society back then.

"To be exact, the Rebels were founded with the investnts of your parents, Andy, and also Mr. Coleman. He had always been supporting your parents from behind the scenes."

Inodded. The financial power of Geno Society was not easily shaken. Similarly, substantial funding is needed to support the Rebels.

"Go tell the Rebels that I’m back, Ms. Ewing. The faster the news spread, the better," I looked at Ms. Ewing and said after a mont of silence.

She felt perplexed. ’Didn’t you say that the Rebels are all Carol’s n now, miss?’

"Carol wants dead, and Geno Society wants to capture for research. The more dangerous my situation, the higher the chance he’ll expose himself." I got up and looked out the window.

Since Dexter had cared for so much and wanted to live my life in hiding, then I’d announce to everyone that I was back.

Didn’t he arrogantly want to hide away and sacrifice himself in order to complete my plan for ? I’d like to see how long he could keep it up.

Ms. Ewing nodded before turning to leave.

I stood by the window and frowned when I saw Damien driving back. Why did he co back?

Why was he back despite knowing that "Sophia" was dead? Was he looking for trouble? I felt annoyed seeing him now.

"We’re done acting now. You don’t have to co back here after work." I walked over to the entrance, reminding him to leave.

Damien wasn’t looking good either when he snorted. ’I won’t go back on my words when I’ve promised Dexter to protect the three of you.

"I’ve always maintained that I live here, and everyone knows my fiancée lives here. Geno Society will start suspecting sothing if I suddenly stop coming back."

He was worried that I might be found out by Geno Society.

I chuckled. "You’re overthinking it. Geno Society will find out that I’m Sophia soon. I’m back now!"

Damien’s expression changed. He looked at anxiously and yelled, "You’re crazy, Sophia! Dexter went to such lengths to keep everything under wraps, yet you..."

His voice trembled, perhaps out of anger at .

"You’re really..." He felt like what Dexter had done was in vain. "He sacrificed so much just to protect you. Do you know that he’s now..

I clenched my fists subconsciously and looked at Damien coldly. "I’ve given you a chance to tell where he

"He’s dead!" he yelled, losing control of his emotions.

My eyes reddened as I grabbed at Damien’s collar. ’He can’t be dead!"

"I’m not lying to you. He wouldn’t be able to deceive Geno Society if he didn’t die. The police have also collected residual DNA from his body at the scene,’ he said hoarsely, lowering his head.

I pushed him away, refusing to believe him. "I don’t believe you."

Surely, Dexter wouldn’t die.

"You’re thinking that he would eventually show up if you continue to expose yourself to danger, right?’ Damien chuckled bitterly. "We’re the sa, Sophia. We only realized how precious sothing is after we lost it.’

What I was doing was similar to how he tried to lure out by getting engaged to Juliet back then. What was the point of realizing sothing’s value only after you had lost it?
