Chapter 379: Chapter 379 Lacks Any Cultural Background

"Such a sweet talker." Wen Yun laughed at her daughter’s words and her mood instantly brightened. She spoke with heavy-heartedness, "Your father and I are getting old and won’t be able to help you for long. When you and Xiaochen have a child, we will focus on taking care of your child, and you two can concentrate on your careers."

Tong Yaohui nodded, echoing in a serious tone, "Xiaochen is destined to achieve great success in the field of dicine. As his wife, you must not hold him back. Once our suburban house is built, the rent alone would be enough to support us all. We should fully support Xiaochen’s career."

In Tong Yaohui’s eyes, Si Chen’s potential achievents in dicine were truly admirable, and no amount of money could compare.

Since he has the ability in this field, they must fully support him.

Tong Yao objected with a hint of disappointnt, "Dad, that’s a little biased. You’re only supporting Ahchen’s career and ask

to make sacrifices for it. But I also have career aspirations! What if one of us is working in dicine and the other striving to make money? We could have both fa and fortune in the future!"

At least until she was 35, Tong Yao hadn’t considered being a stay-at-ho wife. Even if they were not short of money, she also had career aspirations and wanted to see how successful she could be on her own.

As for after the age of 35, no matter how much money she earned, she intended to focus on maintaining her beauty, spending her afternoons drinking tea with friends and taking the kids around to enjoy gourt food and life.

Tong Yaohui countered, "If you want to work, your mother and I will help you with the children. Xiaochen’s job is quite demanding, and that’s inevitable. I won’t stop you from having a career. However, you cannot ignore the children by devoting all your energy to your career. The children need their parents’ company."

Even though he had been busy with work when he was young, whenever he had ti, he would spend it with Tong Yao. When it ca to his daughter, he hoped she wouldn’t neglect her family due to being too engrossed in her career.

If Tong Yao knew his thoughts, she would definitely roll her eyes. When she was young, she didn’t like Tong Yaohui’s company at all because he always lectured her with a lot of wisdom and advice.

Wen Yun, however, shot Tong Yaohui a look. She complained, "We don’t even have children yet, and you’re already talking to Yaoyao about this. Isn’t this pressuring her? You should stop worrying about it. We can talk about it when Yaoyao really has a child."

Tong Yaohui was quite helpless and showed a gloomy expression, "Look at you, we just casually ntioned the topic and you flipped out."

Tong Yao hadn’t expected that her parents would take her casual remark seriously. She couldn’t help laughing, wondering if she and Si Chen would do the sa when they grew old.

Seeing that the two were about to argue, Tong Yao quickly intervened, "Dad, Mom, rest assured. If I really have a child in the future, no matter how busy I am, I will take care of the child. I also want to develop my career. However, in the future, I am more inclined to invest but not to participate directly in projects."

Tong Yaohui nodded in satisfaction, while Wen Yun said, "You do whatever you want to do. Your mother is always behind you to support you. If n can be ambitious, so can won. Don’t listen to your dad."

These words were for Tong Yao, but also for Tong Yaohui. She couldn’t bear to see her daughter suffer. As long as she was happy and on the right path, she would support her regardless of her endeavors.

Upon hearing his wife’s words, Tong Yaohui was about to say that their daughter was spoiled by her, but seeing her obedient look, he swallowed his words imdiately.

Never mind. His wife was going through nopause. If he made her angry, it would be him who would suffer in the end.

After lunch, Tong Yao took a break and was about to check out the milk tea shop across from the school. Tong Yaohui gave her so roasted chestnuts for the staff at the shop and complained to her daughter in passing.

"Recently, I don’t know what happened, but there are fewer beggars in the street. Your mother usually likes to buy extra buns for the beggars near the door when she buys breakfast. She can’t give them out anymore. To avoid waste, your mother asked

to eat them instead."

"Mom is just afraid you’d go hungry. She wants you to eat more. Dad, since it’s getting colder, you should close the shop earlier in the evening. I’ll go first."

Tong Yao hadn’t paid much attention to these matters at first. But after hearing what Tong Yaohui said, she took extra notice on her way to the shop. It was indeed strange; she did not see a single beggar on the street.

Normally, there were quite a few beggars on the street; so were professional beggars, while others were genuinely too poor to afford a al. Those too poor would accept food from others, while the professional beggars only wanted money.

Now, however, neither kind were around. Could it be that the city managent thought they were a blight on the cityscape and drove them all away?

Though puzzled, Tong Yao didn’t think too much of it. But when she returned to the shop, she found it packed. Si Xiaohui sat inside the shop with a heavily made-up friend, acting as though she were royalty.

Wang Chun was also in the shop, sitting next to Si Xiaohui’s table. With no other custors in the store, Deng Wenwen was chatting with Wang Chun.

As Tong Yao walked in, she just happened to hear Si Xiaohui boasting about the shop being owned by her brother. With her back to the entrance, Si Xiaohui didn’t notice Tong Yao coming in and continued speaking in a supercilious tone.

"Yuyu, in the future, if you want to drink milk tea, you can co to Koukou Milk Tea. As long as you go to a shop with that na, you can drink whatever you want without paying. If anyone asks for money, just tell them that you’re a friend of the boss’s sister. The cost of milk tea is very low. After the New Year, my uncle said he would open a milk tea shop for . Then, I will be the boss. You can co and work at my shop, I’ll pay you a higher salary."

"So you’re also opening a milk tea shop with this brand?" Wang Yuyu had always seen Si Xiaohui spending money lavishly, and knowing that her brother and sister-in-law owned a chain store, she thought Si Xiaohui must be a privileged daughter from a wealthy family. She looked at Si Xiaohui with envy.

She was prudent to curry favour with Si Xiaohui. Once Si Xiaohui becos her boss, she wouldn’t have to work at the lingerie store and be stared at by so sleazy old n.

"The taste will be the sa, but the na won’t be this one," Si Xiaohui retorted while drinking the shop’s milk tea, "This na is too unpleasant. It has no cultural depth."

In reality, Si Xiaohui would have liked to use the sa na, but she knew that Tong Yao wouldn’t let her.

Her uncle treated her like his own daughter now and their lives were comfortable. She didn’t want to curry favour with Tong Yao.

Just wait and see!

Her life would definitely be better than Tong Yao’s. Tong Yao looked down upon her now, but she knew a ti would co when Tong Yao would regret it.

Wang Chun glanced at Deng Wenwen with a shocked expression, finding it hard to believe that Si Chen, who was so outstanding, could have such a repulsive sister.

Deng Wenwen was fuming, but since Si Xiaohui was Tong Yao’s sister-in-law, and with Tong Yao not around, she didn’t say anything. If Si Xiaohui were not Tong Yao’s sister-in-law, she would have driven her away a long ti ago.

She couldn’t figure out how such a great man like Si Chen could have such an annoying little sister.
