268: Chapter 267 268: Chapter 267 So both of them fell silent.

In the end, it was Xu Niannian who broke the silence first, “Do you have sothing you want to tell ?”

Jin Yu pursed his lips and suddenly turned his head, pulling Xu Niannian close, so near that the two of them sat in the car’s driver and passenger seats, respectively.

“Niannian, I have sothing I want to tell you.

You can object, but could you please let finish speaking?

Even if you oppose it, it doesn’t matter, but you mustn’t get angry.”

As he spoke to Xu Niannian, Jin Yu was sowhat nervous.

He was afraid that Xu Niannian would get angry.

After all, Niannian had already said that the wedding should be simple, and he had agreed to it.

Now, to go back on his word, it seed utterly improper.

Xu Niannian, influenced by his nervous tone, beca nervous as well.

“You’re not going to tell you don’t want to get married at this point, are you?”

Both of them were getting married for the first ti; Xu Niannian wasn’t as calm as she appeared on the surface, quite nervous in fact.

“How could that be?” Jin Yu sounded as if he’d heard a wild fantasy: “I can’t wait to get married; why would I back out now?

That’s not what I want to discuss.”

“Then what is it?”

Upon hearing it wasn’t Jin Yu having second thoughts about their marriage, Xu Niannian inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief; when she realized what she had been fretting over, she wished she could slap her own forehead.

“I think…

the wedding can’t be simple…” Jin Yu finished his sentence and imdiately held his breath, looking seriously at Xu Niannian.

He remained on edge, ready to change his mind at any hint of discontent from Xu Niannian.

Xu Niannian blinked, sowhat uncertain, “Is that what you wanted to talk about?”

“You’re not angry?” asked Jin Yu.

Xu Niannian was just about to bring up this very topic with him; she hadn’t expected he’d already thought of this.

Yet she was curious as to why Jin Yu had suddenly thought to have a more lavish wedding.

Jin Yu simply shared the sa reasonings his mother had told him with Xu Niannian, and upon hearing them, Xu Niannian was torn between laughter and tears.

“My mom said the sa thing, so…

let’s have a grand wedding, huh?”

“Really, you agree?” Jin Yu’s eyes shone brightly with joy.

Xu Niannian smiled and nodded, “Mhm.”

Looking at her radiant smile, Jin Yu’s gaze suddenly beca as foolish as a simpleton’s; she agreed to have a big wedding, agreed to let everyone know they were getting married.

Xu Niannian noticed that Jin Yu always acted rather silly in front of her, completely different from when he was around others.

She squinted her eyes, smiling gently as she said to him, “Please give your guidance for the rest of our lives.”

“No guidance needed, it’s you who’ll be giving it to .

From now on, your wish is my command,” Jin Yu’s voice was filled with excitent.

His Niannian, the girl he had thought about for so long, was finally going to beco his wife.

Jin Yu was so excited that words couldn’t convey the urgency and fervor in his heart.

He wished only to be with her till the end of ti, until death did them part.

Xu Niannian held Jin Yu’s hand and said to him, “Jin Yu, it’s ti for us to get our marriage certificate.”

Jin Yu touched his wildly beating heart, “Listen, it’s thumping; let it thump for a little longer.”

Xu Niannian was speechless, his words didn’t quite sound right to her.

It was a long ti before the two got out of the car.

Getting a marriage certificate didn’t take very long; Xu Niannian felt as if she were simply completing a straightforward administrative procedure, listening to the staff’s instructions throughout the process.

When asked to sign, they signed.

When asked to take photos, they took photos.

At that mont, Xu Niannian felt no sense of getting married at all, and many of the staff in the Civil Affairs Bureau stared at her and Jin Yu, making her feel quite embarrassed.

Xu Niannian was led by Jin Yu throughout the whole process, dazed; other than feeling Jin Yu’s broad and large hands, she had no other sensations—not even the excitent people talk about when getting married.

It wasn’t until the two small red books were in her hands that she belatedly felt that marvelous sensation.

The photograph was of her and Jin Yu together.

Even though it was a black and white photo, Jin Yu’s handsoness was still vividly discernible.

With her hair hanging down, she stood shoulder to shoulder with Jin Yu; their heads extrely close together, and on the left side of the photo were their nas.

Jin Yu…

Xu Niannian!

The two nas were very close together.

From now on, she and Jin Yu were husband and wife.

A legally recognized husband and wife.

Her heart thumped, not from excitent, but an indescribable feeling of wonder.

It was as if at that mont, she finally found her place of belonging.

Unaware, Xu Niannian gazed at the two photographs with a foolish smile; no sound ca out, but the corners of her mouth remained uplifted in a high arc.

Jin Yu wasn’t much better off than Xu Niannian; in fact, he seed to be far more excited than she was.

The hand holding the little red book clenched unconsciously, almost crushing it out of shape.

As they exited the Civil Affairs Bureau, they still held hands, each carrying a little red book in their other hand.

“Niannian, are we really married?” Jin Yu asked foolishly.

His slightly husky voice sounded in Xu Niannian’s ear, pulling her thoughts back to the present.

She turned to look at Jin Yu and found that he was smiling even more foolishly than she was, his eyes shining as he stared at the little red book in his hand.

His questioning seed not so much directed at her as at the photograph of her in the little red book.

At that mont, Xu Niannian suddenly felt as if her heart had been gently nudged and had beco very tender.

Her fondness for Jin Yu seed to deepen just a bit more.

“Mhm, we are married now, and from now on, you can only look at , one woman.”

Xu Niannian had originally intended that remark just to tease him a little, but as soon as she said it, Jin Yu suddenly embraced her like a madman and spun her around on the spot.

His handso face was brimming with excited joy, the happiness and the smile in his eyes seed like they could drown Xu Niannian.

Jin Yu laughed very happily, his normally stern facial lines softened greatly.

In broad daylight, with many people coming and going, in an era where even holding hands with soone risked gossip, Jin Yu kept hugging her and spinning on the spot and shouting excitedly,

“Xu Niannian, from today onwards, you are my wife, Jin Yu’s wife.

I will treat you well, only you well.”

The smile on his face was so radiant, and in his bright yet profound eyes lay endless joy.

Being suddenly embraced in front of so many people, Xu Niannian initially felt very embarrassed; after all, this was not the open-minded future.

However, seeing the joyful smile on his face, Xu Niannian couldn’t help but be affected by it; Jin Yu’s presence made her heart uncontrollably speed up.

To hell with constraints, to hell with other people’s stares, to hell with gossip, Xu Niannian didn’t care anymore, at that mont, all she wanted was to respond to Jin Yu’s enthusiasm.

Therefore, Xu Niannian did sothing very bold under the surprised and astonished gazes of the onlookers; she quickly bowed her head.
