Reborn in another world as a Hermaphrodite Chapter 144: Three Days Before Final Exam
After staring at his paper for almost a minute, he finally began to move his pencil as he wrote his first sentence.
"There are many favorite spells that a mage can 'use'... no, no, no, use isn't supposed to be spelled this way."
With the constant squeaking sound from the erasing, it quickly caught the girl's attention.
"Alex, you okay?" Mary asked, noticing his face looking a little frustrated.
"I'm fine."
Seeing Alex still writing on his paper, the other girls shifted their attention back to their paper.
"With the use of the fireball in a triangular shape, the wind blade opted to use a rectangular shape composed of pure wind elents..."
The essay started to co together as Alex wrote down his ideas about spell structure. Although it was much slower than before, there was no longer a mix-up.
An hour later...
As all seven of them finished writing, they quickly passed their paper to the person on the right.
Looking down, Alex had gotten Mary's paper. Right at the very beginning, he was taken aback by the first word in the essay.
---
Periods.
Every woman experiences this multiple tis in life. I was no exception.
My older sister had experienced it a few years before . It was the first ti I had seen my sister in pain.
She was surprisingly tougher than , able to stand through it without crying. Or maybe mine was just more painful.
I couldn't resist the urge to cry at all.
The pain was greater than the limit of the sky, more than the first ti I fell onto my knees on those rocky roads of the wilderness.
All of the blood, the redness that had flooded my body. A stain that remained on my soul that I thought I could never cleanse.
Fortunately, Mom told I was just overreacting. With a single wipe of the towel, all of the stains went away.
But the pain lingered.
The end of my life that I couldn't escape from. The all-ending darkness that surrounds .
I couldn't see the light. The hope faded. The will that pushes our hearts, ups and downs, was gone.
Until the darkness dared .
They thought I couldn't read while in pain, but I proved them wrong. I was able to recall every word, sentence, and period.
Gone were the days of darkness. I stood proud, knowing I had triumphed over the two devils whispering in my ears.
But it wasn't because of the dare—it was because of what my Mom said right after I regained the light.
"Congratulations! You're now a woman."
----
"Nice essay." Alex complinted as he handed the paper back to Mary.
"Thank you."
"Alex, your essay seed a little wrong. I'm pretty sure a pyramid can't be more stable than a rectangle.
Isn't the rectangle more stable since it has four sides and four lines support it rather than three?"
As Luna pointed out the differences, Alex didn't answer them right away. Rather, he started ripping out a blanket piece of paper.
With one folding right into half, he cleanly cuts it equally before folding one of them into a simple rectangular box.
While the other gets cut in half again, forming two pyramids shaped leaning to the sides.
"Look, if I put my pencil on this paper, which one do you think will collapse?"
"The pyramid?" Luna questioned as she looked towards the two separate pyramids over the long rectangle.
Alex puts his pencil into the box, which instantly collapses as the pencil falls through the top.
Next, he puts the pencil on top of the two pyramids, which surprisingly remain on top until they roll down to the table.
"Just because it has more sides and more lines, it doesn't necessarily an stronger."
"But fireball isn't as stable as windblade."
Sophia's point caught Alex a little off guard with the real-life example. But his mind quickly ca up with an answer that satisfied his idea.
"That's because the fireball uses fire and earth elents. Fire is inherently more unstable than wind and water.
The earth is used to stabilize the fire elent, not because of its shape. It doesn't disprove my argunt that a triangle is more stable."
"Alex is right. I rember the textbook did ntion it in the second chapter." Chloe chid in.
"I guess..."
"Ahem, let's go back to studying yesterday's note. We can study math later." Evelyn spoke out to alleviate his sister's awkwardness.
---
As the study continued, the day soon beca the afternoon as the sun began to set toward the horizon.
The seven of them were starting to get a little hungry, with Camille's stomach being the first one to growl.
"Let's take a little break for now," Sophia murmured as she closed her notebook.
"Finally... I'm going to get so water." Mary murmured as she got up from her seat.
"Wait for ! I want to get so water, too."
" too..."
With Luna and Chloe both following Mary out of the living room, Camille shyly scratched her hair as she turned over to Alex.
"Hey Alex, do you guys have snacks here? I-I can give you so snack next ti you guys co to our dorm——"
"Follow ."
With two more gone towards the kitchen, only Sophia and Evelyn remained as they both stretched out their elbows.
"Hey Sophia, where's Miss Luqing and Miss iya? Are they on the sa business trip with Miss Katherine?" Evelyn suddenly asked.
"I don't think so. At least they didn't tell about it. They probably just——"
Before Sophia could finish responding, the doorbell interrupted her with a sudden ring.
"I'll go answer it."
After walking over to the door, Sophia finally let out a sigh of relief after seeing through the peephole.
"Hey, Sophia! You miss us?"
As iya reached down for a hug, Luqing quickly closed the door behind her before noticing all the backpacks in the living room.
More importantly, Evelyn was sitting right at the dining table with a notebook in each of the seats.
"Hello, Evelyn." Luqing waved.
"Hello Miss Luqing."
"Oh, what brought you guys here? You all studying today?" iya curiously asked as the three of them walked over to the table.
"We are just taking a break after studying for a few hours——"
"Sister iya!"
As Mary excitedly ran over to iya, the cup filled with water fell straight from her hand.
Within a snap of a second, Luqing disappeared out of sight before reappearing as she caught the cup of water in her hand.
"Be careful. Don't be so clumsy," iya lectured as Luqing handed the cup of water back to Mary.
"Oops."
Mary awkwardly scratched her head as she quickly put the cup of water back down on the table.
"Good evening, Miss Luqing, Miss iya." Chloe and Luna both said at the sa ti as they walked out of the kitchen.
"Good evening... Where's Alex?" iya curiously asked, noticing him to be missing.
"Inside the storage room——"
"Mom, we need to head back first. Ti is going to be running out," Luqing interrupted before Sophia could finish answering.
"Oh, right. Let's talk later. We'll be right back!"
As the two of them disappeared into the storage room, everyone was already seated back at the table.
Except for Alex and Camille, who seed to be taking forever to get snacks.
"I'll go check up on them."
Just as Sophia got up from her seat, the two finally appeared by the doorway with a box in their hands.
"Here's a whole box of candies. Just eat as many as you want. Don't worry about saving it later."
Alex and Camille both softly put down their boxes, opening them to reveal candies filled to the brim of the box.
"Where did you get this from?" Sophia curiously asked as she took one of the blue candies from the box.
"Mom brought them like a few weeks ago... Did Luqing and iya co back ho already?"
Alex curiously asked, noticing the two new pairs of outdoor shoes sitting right at the doorstep.
"Yeah... Camille, what do you think of the candies?" Sophia asked as she shifted the topic.
"They taste great! It kind of reminds of those sweet cakes!" Camille excitedly replied as she grabbed a handful of the candies.
"That's good... What do you three think?"
"Taste very sweet. I like it," Luna replied as she grabbed another one from the box.
Seeing Evelyn and Chloe both nodding, Sophia started unwrapping the candy in her hand and started eating it.
"Hmm... This is so sweet." Sophia comnted.
"Told you," Mary murmured as she grabbed another one from the box.
"Careful. Don't eat so much of it unless you want a stomach ache."
Camille's face imdiately started to blush, putting the handful of candies she had just grabbed into just taking a single one.
"Ahem, let's get back to studying... We still haven't studied the math part yet."
"Ugh. Stupid math..."
As Sophia opened up her notebook again, Evelyn suddenly flicked her index finger onto Camille's forehead.
"Co on, just one final stretch before we finish studying. Don't cut yourself slack now."
"Fine, fine."
