As they watched the mysterious professor out of the house, the three of them quickly rushed over to Katherine with an intrigued look.

"Mom, why is the professor fully covered like that?" Nami curiously asked.

"She got into so bad accident... Stop being so noisy and go do your howork."

"We don't have howork. Did you forget it's about to be our final week?" Sophia asked.

"Even more of a reason for you guys. Go back to your room and start studying. I don't want to hear my kids failing the test."

Katherine quickly got up from the sofa, shoving the three towards their room, much to their disappointnt.

---

After studying for a bit in the room, Alex was a little bored as he had already rembered most of the material from the textbook.

Every ti he took out the notebook, it gave him a small headache, but he started to hate the amount of reading he needed to do.

It was almost as if he were going through college—at least, that's what he imagined it would be like if he was back on Earth.

Reflecting inside his mind, he was surprised that he even lasted that long studying every day without finding the mundane class boring.

The peer pressure of seeing others studying so hard had made him change. He had gone from soone who didn't really care about the grades to being super competitive.

Things like reading a book on his own would never happen. Well, for books that were purely educational with no entertainnt value.

"I really did change so much... But that's for the better, right?" Alex thought to himself as he opened up the notebook again.

Just as he was about to start studying again, the door was suddenly opened.

"Sorry to interrupt. I completely forgot I needed to bring you guys to your grandma's birthday."

"I was wondering when you're going to bring that up."

Alex quickly followed Katherine back into the living room, only to see Sophia and Mary already there.

"Get ready..."

As the three of them stood next to her, she took out so sort of scroll from her pocket dinsion.

Light imdiately appeared below them, along with the scroll lit up, forcing all four of them to close their eyes.

By the ti it disappeared, they were all the way back to the castle in Regina.

"Mom, are iya and Luqing not coming with us?" Mary asked curiously, quickly noticing what was missing.

"They have their own stuff to do... Anyway, let's go find your grandma."

As Katherine led the three of them around the castle, they could feel the emptiness as they hadn't encountered a single person.

Not even a single maid as they walked past the hallway and into the living room.

"Where is everyone?" Katherine muttered as she started to be weirded out by the empty room.

After walking through most of the castle, they finally found two guards standing at the front entrance.

"You two, do you know where is my mom?" Katherine asked.

The guard flinched for a second before turning back around, saluting toward Katherine before telling their answer.

"Lady Ava hasn't been at the castle for the past three days."

"How about Alia?"

"She ca back ho yesterday... We didn't see her leave the castle through the front door."

"Thank you... Wait, what happened to all the maids?" Katherine asked just as she was about to leave.

"Today is their day off, Duchess Reid."

"I see."

As Katherine walked back to her kids, the worry on her face was fully visible for the three of them to tell.

Not to ntion, they have already overheard the conversation between her and the guards.

"Mom, are grandma and auntie okay?" Sophia worryingly asked.

"They are just probably leaving sowhere to do sothing. Let's head back to the living room and wait."

Despite the worried face vanishing on Katherine, they could still tell she was a little concerned as they sat on the sofa.

"Mom, you can leave us here. We will just wait in the living room if you want to go look for them."

Alex suggested, with the other two nodding in support as they bunkered down onto the sofa.

"I... Stay here, okay?"

Katherine quickly touched each of their foreheads, chanting sothing under her breath as a light appeared.

"If I don't co back, go ask the guards to bring you back to the capital."

"Okay."

As she vanished before their eyes, the three of them imdiately huddled into a circle.

"Alex, what do you think has happened?" Sophia curiously asked.

"No clue... But I doubt we can do anything about it."

The answer disappointed Sophia a little, as she was hoping that Alex would offer so actionable plan.

"Sophia, when will Mom co back?" Mary curiously asked as she had already started to get bored of waiting.

"I don't know exactly... But it shouldn't be that long. Probably like an hour or so would be my guess."

As the three of them continued waiting on the sofa, they could see the ti going slowly as the clock ticked.

"Alex, is there really nothing we can do?" Sophia asked again.

"Mom said we should stay here. I'm not going to move until she cos back."

"Fine... Mary, let's go play so cards."

"Sure!"

The two of them quickly ran over to the shelf, only to realize the cards had been moved out of their reach.

"Let get a chair."

Sophia quickly ran over to the dining table, carrying the chair all the way to the shelf before stepping up to take the cards down.

With the cards in hand, the two quickly went back to the sofa before shuffling it.

"What should we play... Mary, what do you want to play?"

"Um... I don't know. How about you pick?"

After a short thought, Sophia eventually decided on their favorite childhood card ga.

"How about Spades Run?"

"Sure... Best of three?"

"Best of three."

Sophia quickly passed ten cards to Mary before taking ten cards from the deck to herself.

"Oo, this is a perfect hand. You want to reshuffle or not?" Sophia asked as she read her cards.

"I'm good. Let's start then."

Both quickly took a card out of their hands and put it face down on the sofa.

"Ready... Flip!"

As they flipped their cards over, Sophia's was a 10 of Spade, while Mary's was a 9 of Diamond.

"Dang it," Mary murmured as Sophia gathered the two cards to her side.

"Not off to a great start, huh?" Sophia said out loud as she put a card from her hand face down.

"You're just burning your good cards way too early," Mary argued as she put another card down.

"Ready... Flip!"

As they flipped their cards over again, Sophia's was a 5 of Diamond, while Mary's was a 9 of Spade.

"Hehe, my cards." Mary happily takes the two cards before putting them next to her.

Sophia didn't react back to Mary's taunt as she had already put another card face down.

Mary also quickly puts a card down before saying ready flip this ti, only to have her 2 Clubs lose to 2 of Spades.

After they exchanged cards back and forth, Sophia won the ga, as she had fourteen cards compared to Mary's six.

"You got lucky this ti. The next round isn't going to be so easy."

"Uh-huh. Sure."

As they drew their cards from the deck and put one of the cards face down on the sofa, they both flipped at once again.

Soon, the second round ended in Mary's victory, as she managed to have twelve cards compared to Sophia's ten.

With the match decided, the two picked their car much slower this ti, trying to gather information on each other through their faces.

anwhile, Alex had been sitting on the side, occasionally checking the two of them before looking out the window.

"Ha! I got this one. One more, and it's over for you!" Mary excitedly bragged as she held eight cards on the side.

"Don't get so excited."

As they flipped their cards, Mary fell into an even bigger excitent as she won the trade.

"Goodbye, sis. You lost, " Mary said as she gathered the two cards into her stockpile.

"Not yet. You only have ten cards. I can still tie this."

Seeing Sophia's stubbornness to refuse to surrender, Mary picked the highest value onto the sofa and flipped.

To Mary's surprise, the card was just the sa tier but just one number lower.

"I still have four chances. You aren't going to win all four." Mary confidently pointed out as she put a card down.

Sophia didn't say anything, putting a card down before saying flip.

Once again, Sophia wins the round, taking the card to the side as Mary's chances of winning start to slip.

"Crap. You got lucky this ti. You aren't going to win this one."

With two cards in hand, Mary's heart was starting to race as she held a 2 of heart and 10 of the club.

The first one was absolute garbage, while the other was only the middle of the pack for being club.

"Screw it, how about we just do both at once?" Mary suggested as she put both of them face down.

"Sure."

Sophia quickly matches Mary, putting one on the left and one on the right to face the opponent.

"Flip!"
