Chapter 478: Chapter 477: Establishing a Classic (Part 2)

Blood sausage, dense, and soft.

The middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes swallowed it and his eyes incredibly bulged in amazent.

With a bite, the fresh juice exploded in his mouth. It was just a piece of boiled blood sausage, yet the juice that splashed out was so abundant. A single drop seed like an ocean, rumbling, and the middle-aged man heard the surging sound of tidal waves.

Keep eating!

“Boom!”

His scalp tingled, and tears slid down from the corners of his eyes; delicious, moved to emotion.

“Truly, an indescribable flavor! Why can blood sausage reach such a level, wait, where’s the ‘blood of cow, pig, and bird’? The fishiness? It’s unbelievable, not even a hint of fishiness… Oh, here it cos again, the ejected juice is such bliss, paired with mysterious spices!”

The first judge, a hunched and frail old man, seed to convulse in ecstasy, his whole body quivering, yet he clenly clenched the fork, rapidly consuming slice after slice of the blood sausage.

“Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, pepper powder, Sichuan pepper powder… and the fresh flavors of ginger and scallion, what kind of spice blend is this?”

The fork in the hunched old man’s hands suddenly fell as he stared blankly up at the lights above the venue.

A lody from heaven echoed in the ears of the five judges.

The audience covered their mouths, the venue fell silent.

lissa was the first to leave her seat, absentmindedly chewing the food, and started to dance a French court ballet in front of the judges’ bench. Her flaxen hair billowed with her dance moves, and her red high heels tapped on the stage floor, emitting a clear clicking sound.

Tap tap tap…

So graceful.

The middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes cleared his throat and sang a North Arican folk song with a deep, emotional voice:

“Just one last dance, oh baby…”

“Last dance, oh baby…”

The remaining three judges, perhaps more reserved, stayed seated in their chairs.

The first judge, the hunched old man, put a piece of pan-seared blood sausage into his mouth, took a bite, and swayed even more violently. Chiyoda Aichi watched in bewildernt, truly wondering if the old judge had so hidden illness, and even thought about asking the staff for a bottle of ergency heart pills.

Quickly, all five stared at their now empty white ceramic plates.

“Gone!”

“All eaten up!”

lissa returned to her seat, dancing up a sweat, openly unbuttoning a few of the top buttons of her white shirt in full view. The fabric gave way under the strain of her full bosom, revealing a plunging cleavage. Even a corner of her black lace bra was visible. Truly a glamour star, incredibly sultry.

The judges sighed.

After a while, the hunched old man cald down and stared at Xia Yu as if looking at a bizarre creature.

“Why is the flavor of the blood sausage so rich?”

Before Xia Yu could speak, the second judge, a middle-aged man from the United States, couldn’t help but interject, “Yes, exactly, the flavor is incredibly rich, not only perfectly preserving the essence of ‘the blood of cow, pig, and bird’ but also completely eliminating any gaminess. How did you do it? Is it the spice blend?”

The judges farther back also stared at him, many questions bottled up inside them, their gazes fervent.

“I say…”

lissa fanned her neckline and, seeing Xia Yu’s glance, deliberately straightened her back, proudly displaying her feminine cleavage and even throwing the young man a seductive wink. Her attitude had shifted from skeptical and questioning to warm enthusiasm in just a few short minutes.

“This is definitely not the classic French boudin noir! I guarantee it!” lissa giggled, “But, it’s great, classics are ant to be broken, and from now on, your black sausage, that’s my classic, darling—”

Saying so, she blew a kiss through the air.

Xia Yu was really unable to cope with this female judge’s enthusiasm, especially the ‘darling’ which left him feeling a chill.

“However, I have so questions.”

lissa stared at him intently and asked, “While removing the gay taste is one aspect, could you also tell which spices you added when you mixed the blood, pork skin, and pork?”

“Cinnamon, cardamom, Shan Nai, grains of paradise, cloves, star anise, cassia bark, pepper, pollen, and fennel seeds. Note, all these spices were ground into powder,”

Xia Yu said.

“Just these?”

lissa didn’t believe him and frowned slightly, “Then why do the spices I tasted seem so exquisite?”

Hearing this, Xia Yu chuckled.

“In fact, it’s all about the combination. Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, Shan Nai, and grains of paradise make up a classic ‘five-spice powder.’ Similarly, Sichuan pepper, star anise, cassia bark, cloves, and fennel seeds can also form a ‘five-spice powder.’ After that, there’s…”

He listed several combinations of ‘five-spice powder’ in one breath.

“Is that so!”

The hump-backed old man at the front lit up, slapped the table, and exclaid, “Incredible!”

“Is this self-combining, self-ordering of spices in a dish? A single recipe achieving the layering of multiple recipes—no wonder it perfectly masters the ‘blood of beef, pork, and poultry,’ making this delicious ingredient devoid of any gay taste!”

He exclaid in amazent, studying Xia Yu’s youthful face intently,

“Do you know? This is the first ti I’ve tasted ‘blood of beef, pork, and poultry’ without a hint of gaminess. I’ve always enjoyed blood sausages made primarily from ‘blood of beef, pork, and poultry,’ but the persistent gay taste has been troubling for a long ti!”

“For our top-notch and sensitive taste buds, even the slightest flaw is so hard to tolerate!”

“Thank you!”

The hump-backed old man suddenly stood up and bowed to Xia Yu.

“You’ve shown that ‘blood of beef, pork, and poultry’ can be perfectly mastered!”

The scene fell silent.

Probably even the audience watching the live broadcast was speechless.

The second judge, a middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes, suddenly stared at Xia Yu and asked, “Are you, are you really only 16 years old?”

“Yes.”

“Here’s my business card, please be sure to take it!”

The middle-aged man hurriedly pulled a business card from his pocket and handed it over with both hands.

Xia Yu took the business card and stepped back.

The third, seemingly an Old Lady from India who was a judge, frowned in dissatisfaction and said, “Contestant Xia Yu, you must have left out at least one spice! I’m certain, other blood sausages made from ‘blood of beef, pork, and poultry’ don’t have the profound flavor you’ve created!”

As she spoke, the female judge picked up her fork again, glanced towards Bernard’s dish, set her fork down, then picked up a piece of the sautéed blood sausage and took a bite, ticulously chewing before coldly putting the fork down.

“Exactly!”

She sighed and then, with eyes full of inquiry, stared fixedly at Xia Yu, almost pleadingly said, “Tell us! The real secret of your dish!”

“I want to know the answer now!”

The other four judges all turned their gazes toward him at once, and Xia Yu found himself in a tight spot.

The eyes of the audience were all focused on him.

“Er, how should I put this…”

“Actually, that’s not a spice…”
