386: Chapter 385: Exam Ti 386: Chapter 385: Exam Ti On the expressway from Kanagawa to Tokyo.
Tires screeched violently against the pavent, leaving a black streak.
Inside the car.
The woman driver, who had stomped on the ergency brake, now had a sowhat pale face reflected in the rearview mirror.
“…You plan to head back to Tokyo early with your ‘finishing move’ recipe still incomplete?” Her eyes shifted as she tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
“What else?”
Xia Yu, thrown off balance by the sudden braking and fearing a crash, instinctively looked back to see that the straight road behind was clear of vehicle shadows, thus preventing a terrible rear-ending accident; she could not help but sigh with relief and laugh, “Hey Reiko, did you forget sothing?”
“I’m a high school student, aren’t I?
If I don’t return to Tokyo early to take my final exams, what will happen to my studies?”
Upon hearing this, the woman in the rearview mirror wore a shocked expression, at a loss for words for quite so ti.
The next day.
White Seagull High School.
Today, the atmosphere in class 1-2 was tense; the students who rushed to the classroom were not in the mood for chitchat and each took out their textbooks or class notes to cram.
A similar scene unfolded not just in the first year, but also among sophomores and seniors.
Starting today, nearly all middle school students in Neon are undergoing final exams that will last from two to three days.
Even though students begin specializing in the arts or sciences from their first year, Neon High School still had too many subjects requiring exams, from physical education to ho economics—don’t think these minor subjects would be easy.
“Hey, Nishimura, good morning!” Several boys waved to Nishimura Eiki as he yawned and entered the classroom.
“You didn’t study last night, did you?
Were you too busy playing gas?” A boy teased with a wink and a sly question.
The spring term was about to end, and Nishimura Eiki had finally integrated into the group, his friends no longer limited to Xia Yu, who sat next to him.
“That’s right, the first subject today is national language, right?
Modern texts?
Shoot!”
A boy rubbed his head in distress.
Bang!
Nishimura Eiki dropped his backpack onto the desk, his face tense as he thought, “I just hope I won’t be at the bottom on the first term exams!”
This high school student, recently consud by online gaming, didn’t have high expectations for his grades.
“This guy hasn’t been to school for half a term!”
Following that, Nishimura Eiki glanced at the empty desk beside him, which was next to the window, the chair tucked under the desk, fortunately, classroom cleanliness was well-maintained, so there was no dust on top.
Prepared for an advanced assessnt for a month.
Then spent another month preparing for a cooking competition.
Carefully calculating, Nishimura Eiki realized that his friend was indeed impressive.
“The youngest top-grade chef in Neon’s history…” he scratched his head and unconsciously blurted out the nickna, silencing the already quiet classroom.
“After our exams are over, in 3 days, it’ll be the end of July.
The cooking competition will start the day after exams end, right?” Nishimura Eiki muttered as he sat down.
The first subject, national language, modern texts.
Soon, the teacher walked up to the podium with the test papers, and when the bell rang, even the unoccupied desk in the corner was covered with a white sheet of paper.
At this ti.
The principal of White Seagull High School, at the shoe cabinet in the main hall of the teaching building, was receiving a first-year student who had just arrived at school dressed in uniform.
“Chef Xia!”
Chiyoda Naoto called out respectfully, watching the boy change into the school’s uniform shoes.
“Shh!”
“Let’s keep it quiet!”
Xia Yu raised a finger with a smile, grabbed his backpack, and headed toward the classroom.
He didn’t go through the front door.
Pointing at the front entrance, he gave a suggestive glance to the principal of White Seagull High School.
The middle-aged man imdiately grasped sothing, coughed, adjusted his tie, and stood with his hands behind him at the door.
The proctoring teacher in the classroom imdiately went to the door to bow, causing many students to look up and have their attention diverted.
Quietly, the back door of the classroom was pulled open, and Xia Yu slipped inside.
He tiptoed to his seat, which he hadn’t visited in two months, took out his pens, erasers, and other exam materials, and instantly entered the state of taking the test.
Beside him, Nishimura Eiki finally heard the noise and looked up.
His eyes widened in shock.
Xia Yu paid him no mind; he had arrived late and needed to focus on answering the questions.
The curriculum at Neon High School was not difficult; there were many subjects, but none were particularly deep.
For him, the three main subjects—Chinese, mathematics, and English—were like giving away points.
Especially mathematics; after mastering “The Spice Inequality” and going through inhumanly intense calculations, high school math was child’s play.
Moreover, with a comprehensive improvent in physical condition, and now at level 35, his study abilities had surpassed the realm of a top student by far, thanks to the boost from his spiritual power.
He was practically a human learning machine.
If all else failed, he could always resort to so special ans…
While answering questions, Xia Yu glanced up at the desks in front of his row.
Boss Sakamoto was still the sa Boss Sakamoto.
His figure was so conspicuous in the classroom.
However, Xia Yu’s focus wasn’t on that.
His gaze settled on the corner of a pristine white test paper sticking out and activated “Insightful Eyes,” causing rows of text to beco clearly imprinted on his retina.
“Hey!”
He hadn’t expected it to actually work.
Xia Yu had only been trying, and then he continued to lower his head and work on his test.
For almost the entire day, Xia Yu spent his ti taking exams at school.
Of course, he wasn’t without being surrounded by a crowd.
His thod of coping was simple: he hid in his private kitchen.
Sitting on a small stool in the kitchen, Xia Yu took a phone call.
“When did you co back to Tokyo?”
Tiqie Helinai asked from the other end.
She had sohow got the news.
“Yesterday…”
“Why is there so much noise on your side?
Aren’t you in the kitchen?” Helinai was probably frowning.
Xia Yu could only shrug in response.
His eyes went past the wide-open window, where the gate of White Seagull High School was visible.
The midday sun was blazing overhead.
Yet, the gate was packed with vehicles, and a sea of journalists with long and short caras were camped out.
The crowd had even disturbed Taido Police Station.
The brightly lit police cars were squeezed to the side of the road, and officers ford a human wall to staunchly guard the gate of White Seagull High School.
The grand scene drew onlookers from amongst the students, and whispers sneaked into the kitchen.
He glanced out of the corner of his eye.
Over by the old school building was a group of girls gathered, pointing and gesturing toward the kitchen with excitent and agitation on their faces, an expression only a fan girl could have.
It was the lunch break, a rare breather for students during final exams, and unsurprisingly, the voracious journalists, as if sniffing blood, had torn the peace to shreds.
“Knock!
Knock!”
Hearing the knock at the door, Xia Yu went to open it to find the principal, Chiyoda Naoto, bowing at a right angle.
Liangzi Lina removed her sunglasses, saying, “There are journalists all around the school now.
Don’t show your face; otherwise, that crowd would surely crash through the police line.
The director has called the Tokyo tropolitan Police Departnt to send more personnel.
We must ensure that White Seagull High School’s final exams proceed normally!”
Xia Yu cast an apologetic look at Chiyoda Naoto.
“Sorry, Principal.
I didn’t expect the dia to be so ferocious,” Xia Yu apologized.
Chiyoda Naoto wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, his heart full of unspeakable troubles.
It wasn’t just outside.
After hearing the news of the young chef’s return to high school for the final exams, the students were going mad too.
Fortunately, Chiyoda Naoto was prepared.
He convened an ergency eting with the teachers and, by keeping the students in their classes, they managed to barely maintain order within the school.
