Miranda rolled her eyes to the sky and beyond. While she was just as horrified about Ian's decision to turn down the position of president, her reaction was less about that and more about him quitting the Saxon group entirely.
She was actually torn between being excited for David or Ian. At the sa ti, she was terrified because none of them seed to want that position. However, it was not the ti to deal with her own emotions because Jasmine was still throwing a tantrum.
"We are rich enough Jasmine." Ian responded unfazed by Jasmine's shrieking and crying. "I want to focus on myself and what makes happy. Being president of the Saxon group is not everything."
Jasmine gasped. "You son of a bitch!! What about the children? What about and my happiness? I want to be the president's wife!"
"Now, now Jasmine, it will all be okay. There is no need to make a scene and embarrass yourself and just so you know I am not a bitch so next ti find better words when insulting your husband." Miranda's eyes warned her not to dare cause any commotion; she was unhappy too but at least she maintained her class and dignity.
So people were snickering. Mr. Cornwell and his lawyers were trying to maintain stoic faces. Rich families had too much drama, they all thought.
Grandpa Saxon gestured at Edgar to silence the room, which the bodyguard did and then Rufus addressed them again. "Robert, you heard the boy, he doesn't want it not that it would change anything even if he wanted it." His eyes bored into those of his son.
"But father at least Katherine is a better replacent, the group has gone to great heights because of her. She has made so few mistakes, but she has learned a lesson. She is also female, and this would make her the first Saxon woman to take that position. The PR around it will be very good. She is a strong one and will never quit unlike David!" Robert protested strongly.
All this while, Phoebe had been quiet. She finally made a sound which was a snort and yet nearly every Saxon eye rushed to look at her head.

"Thank you, father." Katherine was still looking at Robert she did not see Phoebe's thought. She was caught up in her own happiness that soone was finally seeing the light and recomnding her.
Studying her son's staunch defiance, grandma Saxon could not help but feel like this was personal. "Is this about your ego son? I was there the day David quit, rember? That boy did not throw in the towel because he wanted to but rather because you pushed him into it with your endless threats. I hoped that he would return one day, and I am glad that my husband has made it possible. I concur with him; David will take our Saxon group to greater heights and be a strong defender for the company." She tossed a warm smile in David's direction.
Robert shook his head, disapproving of his mother's words. "Mother that is unfair! I did not push him; I just wanted him to recognize his mistakes." He bristled at the accusation.
"Sit down Robert." His father commanded. "Let make this clear, if you are not ready to work with David then by all ans I am ready to give the chairman's position to soone that can do it. You have said that David quit the group, but do you know how many tis he has actually saved the company by helping the research departnt even after he left?
Ask Katherine, I dare her to deny that all the glory she has doesn't belong to David. Do you know how many tis his girlfriend Phoebe has saved the Saxon group from being robbed or taking the wrong path which would lead to major losses? Together, they have saved the group three billion this year alone." Rufus took a brief sip before continuing.
"The company has not been sailing so smoothly just because of your tough love on the employees Robert. It is because they are watching over it like guardians and the rest of you are benefiting from their work in the dark. Now you can all see why I prefer to have David in a high up administrative position; it is because he is the most suitable Saxon for the job.
If the generation gap was not a big deal, I would have made him chairman already and let be clear, he will be the next chairman of the company. If you will make it hard for him to take over in future, I can give the position to him today." He addressed them, his tone letting them know that his mind was already made up.
Collective gasps traveled around. Robert's face paled because he realized he was not the valuable one, David was. It took a while, but they started coming around, one after the other.
Majority of the Saxon's were soon nodding in agreent and praising the old patriarch for his choices. They knew he would not make such a decision carelessly.
"I knew that Katherine was stealing from outsiders, but I did not think she was doing it to family mbers too. She has been boasting around in her brother's glory! Truly shaless." Calisto whispered to Nile; however Katherine who heard his humiliating words asked him to shut up.
"This is not fair to at all." Katherine whined. "I will admit that David did help a little help with so of formulas, but I have worked hard to get to where I am. That position belongs to soone like that has sacrificed tooth and nail to make sure that the group is the undisputed leader in the country. H-how can you repay like this!" Tears welled up in her eyes.
Grandma Saxon smiled ruefully at her frustrated granddaughter. "Katherine dear, this is not personal like you are taking it to be. We have to make the best plans for the group, please think rationally. Everyone here has worked hard for the company in a different way." She pleaded with her to see reason.
"I bring in the highest volu of online custors and hundreds of millions in sales every year, but I am not trying to be president of the company." Nile bragged.
"My husband and I research and sell the highest number of herbal teas and supplents." Rose-Bell chid in.
One by one, everyone ntioned their contributions, so overlapping others but the ssage was the sa. Contributing to the company did not automatically make one qualify to be the president of the group.
"The decision has already been made, all I need is to hear what David is going to say on this matter, not that it will an anything because I am not giving him a choice either." Rufus's last words were a murmur.
Katherine threw David a piercing look, then she shifted it to Phoebe. "It is your fault that my life is over, you will surely pay for this you just wait and see." She muttered under her breath.
If only Phoebe had not co into David's life, he could have remained the useless party boy that he had been.
