The desire to let out a scream overwheld Katherine, a squeal actually managed to fall form her lips and she had to cover her mouth to hide what was bubbling beneath the surface. Not that she could hide her excitent because it was written on her face and everyone could see it.
"Yes uncle! I thought the sa thing and we all know that I have dedicated my entire life to the group. There is no better person to take on the group than ." She lifted her chin.
"Easy there Katherine, I think that your generation is not next in line for any leadership position in the family. The only people that should be excited are your father and uncle." Nini managed to say, she was old and tired most of the ti, but she could not miss this for anything.
She closed her eyes and imdiately started to snore; soone would wake her up when it was ti for important business. Her breakfast was only partially eaten, and the maids removed all the used plates, cups and cutlery in front of her quickly.
Katherine's brows danced to the music in her head, she ignored Nini's words. The positions went to the strongest, not who was born first.
"Grandma Nini is right cousin." Valerie said.
Katherine beca even more smug. "Exactly, my father is the vice president so naturally he will beco president, and he will appoint as vice president." She rubbed her hands.
David was no longer qualified and neither was Rose-bell. Ian lacked the zeal to take over and that left her as the best choice.
A loud cackle escaped Thomas' lips. "That is not how it works dear, did you know that uncle Denver was vice president when uncle Rufus was chosen as president? So, I could be chosen or any of my brothers, besides even if your father takes that hot seat, your brother Ian will likely beco Vice president not you." He's tone was sarcastic as his words.
Katherine laughed, a sound was loud as it was derisive. "Oh dear uncle truly you do not think that Ian that empty suit can lead this company soday? He is a coward, one sign of trouble and he curls into a corner and cries like a baby. I am the only Saxon from the first branch that has the balls to take over the Saxon group from my father." Her eyes didn't just roll, they revolted.
Valerie tapped Nini. The old woman opened her eyes and managed to catch Katherine's last words.
"The only person that can take over from Robert is David but he left the group, so you have him to thank just in case you beco the first female president." Nini spoke, but her voice frayed at the edges. She yawned and looked around.
A maid slipped a glass of berry bliss tonic, in front of Nini. It was a product of the Black Ghost Cafe, a health drink that was good for senior citizens.
Nodding in agreent with the old woman, Katherine smiled at her. "Nice to see you on board granny Nini. A female Saxon group president is the way to go. I will send that idiot David not just one but thousands of roses and gifts when I ascend to the throne." Her tone was more sarcastic than genuine.
In fact, if she ascended to the throne as she called it, she planned to kick out all the relatives that were not making the company money. It was best for them to stay ho than parade around in expensive suits as executives and directors.
Silence covered the room when Rufus wheeled himself in, followed by Prudence and two bodyguards. Everyone that had been sneakily snacking already stopped and kept still he sat down and greeted them.
"Thank you all for coming on short notice, we can go ahead and eat now." He gestured at Catalina to give the lawyers seats too.
Midway into the breakfast, Rufus feigned a cough. What he wanted was their attention before they got full and started using the loos or excusing themselves. Better yet, before sothing dramatic happened and cut into his plans.
He wiped his mouth with a tissue and lifted his eyes to et as many of theirs as possible. "The reason as to why I asked you all here today is because I have an announcent to make." He started to speak, cutlery stopped moving as they lent him their ears.
"As you can see, I am no longer as young and strong as I used to be. Despite that, I have taken back my positions on the founding council, the Saxon group and at the Moldove founding academy." He expelled a short chuckle. "I have co to realize that this is too much work for an old man. I cannot handle all these jobs, and my doctor says the stress will kill .
Therefore, I have decided to let go of the position where I am needed the least and that is the company. The Saxon group excelled in my absence, and it will continue to do so even after I step down as chairman." He paused because whispers erupted in the room, those that had guessed right cheered.
So cheered a little too loudly, earning themselves frowns. Like Calisto Saxon who was not cheering because of the announcent or fragility of Rufus's health. He was simply excited because he had won a bet and earned himself twenty-six million fog dollars.
"I cannot believe that it just lost twenty-six million Fog dollars." Walter Saxon grumbled, transferring the funds to Calisto's account imdiately.
Everywhere else, whispers were still ongoing,
On Katherine's end, she was chuckling victoriously. "Little Valerie, next ti listen to , my intuition is never wrong. The old man is finally handing over the reins." She crossed her legs together.
When the room settled back into a hush, Rufus began to speak again. "I know that you are all excited but save the celebrations for after I leave the room. Like I was saying earlier, I am stepping down from the position of chairman.
Mr. Cornwell is here because I am going to choose who will beco the new chairman, president and vice president." He paused because murmurs broke the silence once again and he knew why.
"That is new! Is it not the president that chooses the vice president?" Thomas spoke loudly; his sentints were shared by majority of the group.
Rufus sighed heavily. "Is that true Mr. Cornwell?" His eyes drifted to the head lawyer.
