Alia happily chatted with Grayson.

As she talked to him, sharing various things and funny monts in his life, she finally realised what it felt like to have an elder’s affection and attention.

A smile appeared on her face as she sat there, hearing his chit-chat.

His face was expressive for a forr king.

His expression would change with each mont, whether it was funny, sad, or serious, and she placed her chin on her hand as she looked at him.

Grayson equally enjoyed talking to Alia. Though he was a forr king and held the world’s power, he yearned for soone to sit and chat with.

Amora was here for him as his partner, but she was busy tending to their kids and grandkids most of the ti, making things for them, or just spending more ti with them, and because of his power and ruthless, impartial decisions, they didn’t like spending as much ti with him.

While describing an incident from his past, his gaze suddenly fell on the way she was sitting, and it almost appeared that he was seeing a spitting image of Gloria.

The way she sat, the way she smiled, her naive and kind eyes full of happiness while she listened to him...

This was the first ti he strongly missed his daughter-in-law.

Was that why Cyrus was lenient towards Alia, even though she was a healer? Because deep down, he yearned for her affection, and Alia was providing him with that?

The thought alone made him appreciate and love Alia even more.

"Why did you stop?" Alia suddenly asked.

Grayson narrowed his brows.

"If I tell you all the incidents today, what will I tell you when we et next ti?" He asked.

Alia chuckled at his words and told him he had a lifeti of experience to share with her.

"Can I ask you sothing?" Alia asked as she gazed at the flowers outside.

Grayson popped a potato fritter in his mouth before nodding.

"I heard that there would be queen trials after the king trials, and even though I have married him, I will have to show my strength as a queen. Amidst those alpha daughters, I might not appear the strongest physically. Besides, King Cyrus hates healers and would choose anyone over . In that case, can I still see you?" Alia looked up at the man.

Her eyes were glossy, as if she considered him a vital part of her family, an important mber close to her heart.

Grayson sighed. He looked at the girl and shook his head.

It was clear she didn’t see what the rest of them saw. The way Cyrus is protective of her...

"He won’t abandon you so easily. I know my grandson. It’s a promise he made to you when he married you. So until you betray him, he won’t abandon you. Besides, his hatred for healers... it has a reason and we all respect that," Grayson said.

Alia nodded in understanding.

She has heard countless tis, not from outsiders but even Cyrus, that he hated healers. According to him, they took sothing precious from him.

But she was yet to find out what that was.

"If you don’t mind asking, why does King Cyrus hate our community like that? I know we are weak and unlikable because most of us don’t have a wolf, still..." Alia let the sentence trail off.

Grayson raised his brows.

He hadn’t expected the girl not to know the truth behind his hatred. It was a big matter and nearly everyone knew about it.

"There are two reasons for his hatred towards healers. First, it was believed that a healer helped Gloria leave the kingdom because a group of healers had arrived for her delivery. That was forgivable...but the second one..." Grayson took a deep breath.

Alia read his expression. His lips were pursed, and his eyes held a new wave of sadness, regret, and resentnt toward her community. She could already see that she wouldn’t like whatever it was.

"Is it that bad?" Alia asked, and Grayson nodded.

"I can only brief you a little. When Cyrus was ten years old, he got lost. A healer got him, and he did things to him after knowing his identity. For a year until we rescued him," Grayson said.

Alia’s heart clenched painfully at his words.

He was kidnapped and saved by a healer. He must’ve thought that he t his savior, but instead, he t his worst nightmare at such a young age.

Bearing any torture for a year...

Even the thought was unbearable to her. His hatred towards her community suddenly made sense, and if possible, she wanted to kill the person who did it to him herself.

"What happened to that person who kidnapped him? Why is there no news about him? I don’t think I heard any healer or a family being boycotted," Alia said.

Grayson nodded.

"A person needs to stay alive to get boycotted, Princess Alia. It took Cyrus two years to beco invincible. By thirteen, he was more than capable of wiping out a diocre pack alone. He hunted that healer and his family. It was what he had requested. That he shall be the only one to punish him," Grayson said.

Grayson shifted the plate of new snacks towards Alia, and the girl chuckled at him.

"I won’t be able to have breakfast if I keep eating, grandpa," Alia said.

Grayson raised his brows at her.

"Were you thinking of having breakfast?" Grayson asked, feigning surprise.

Seeing the girl’s embarrassed expression, the old man chuckled at her before shaking his head.

"It’s ti for breakfast already. I am glad you reminded that I would’ve spent the entire morning chatting, and your husband wouldn’t have liked that at all," Grayson mused.

Alia stood and followed the man out, smiling at his secretary, who smiled and bowed to her.

"This reminds , why is Cyrus not awake yet? He is always the first one to co down to train. I haven’t seen him co down. Did he go out before I was here?" Grayson muttered the last sentence.

Alia blushed when the image of sleeping Cyrus on his stomach popped into her head, but she said nothing.

"Alia, do you know sothing?" Grayson asked her.

Alia nodded and was about to answer when they heard an earth-piercing growl.

"Alia Everleigh!!"

Alia turned in the direction and looked at the top of the stairs where the man was standing, glaring at her murderously.

He was angry. It was almost as if he wanted to eat her raw, and definitely not in a romantic manner.

Her body shook at the anger in his eyes, and she instinctively stepped back.

That was a bad move.

She knew it, but everything in her body scread for her to run, and that is what she did.

He was probably angry about what happened last night and embarrassed that she left early without waking him up, but it didn’t matter to her. All she knew was that she needed to run.

Alia could only run a few tres when the man used his supernatural power and lifted her off the ground, making her flail her legs like a duckling trying to run.

Cyrus looked into her Hazel eyes with his cold, blue ones.

"Cyrus, what is this? Put her down this instant! This is my order! Is this how you treat your wife?" Grayson intervened, not wanting the girl to get scared.

"It’s the right way to treat a woman who only knows how to be sneaky!" Cyrus spat before he threw her over his shoulders and ran straight towards the forest, leaving everyone flabbergasted.
