"et here at the sa ti every day. This is my number," Alia whispered.
The man looked at her in surprise. She just got ready to help him without wanting anything? It was too good to be true. Did she have any hidden intentions?
Alia noticed the doubt on his face and smiled.
"You are thinking wrong, sir. All I want from you is loyalty. I have been surrounded by people who can sell my soul for so extra money and recognition, and amidst this unfair world, I want people whom I can rely on. Who will co to save if it cos to that?" Alia explained.
As much as she wished to spend her entire life with Cyrus, she didn’t want to rely too much on him. He was strong and a king, but he had his share of enemies, and it was high ti she stopped bothering him about every small thing.
"If I help you, will you fight beside ? Fight for ? Can you treat like your daughter, too? I promise that once you heal, we will get your daughter out of that hell," Alia whispered.
The man’s eyes brimd with tears of emotion, and he nodded.
"You have it, little girl. I an, Madam. No. Daughter..." the man stuttered, and Alia smiled at his confusion.
"Call , Ever," She whispered.
The man nodded.
"You have it, Ever. My na is Kael, and I swear on everything I have lost that I will stand by your side through thick or thin, and my unwavering loyalty will be yours till I take the last breath of my life," the man said.
The resolution in his eyes filled Alia’s heart with pride, and for once, she was starting to think that being born as the healer prodigy wasn’t a curse but a boon bestowed on her by the moon goddess.
The sun was setting, and she knew she needed to leave or the King would get suspicious.
She helped Kael to his feet before calling Uncle Harrison, who was nearby. That day, she went to the royal palace with a large smile.
~~~~
At the royal palace, she found King Cyrus sitting in the hall, probably waiting for her.
"Alia, co here," He said as soon as he saw her entering the large doors.
Alia furrowed her brows.
She looked at Miss Quinn and Fabian for help, hoping they would signal her about what was happening. Could it be that he was angry because she was a tad bit late?
The girl walked to the man in slow strides, nervousness oozing from her every step.
Cyrus raised his brows when he saw her walking like a kid, but didn’t comnt.
He sat there with a file in his hands, and Alia licked her bottom lip when she finally reached him.
Seeing him raise his hand, she flinched a little.
The man froze. He didn’t expect her to flinch like that, then again, what could he expect from a girl who was bullied so much at her ho and whose father talked with his hands more than his mouth.
"Did you talk to your father after returning from the healers’ community?" Cyrus asked to start the casual talk.
Alia shook her head.
"We... we don’t talk." She didn’t explain further.
Cyrus looked at the girl’s face before sighing and placing the file aside.
"Why are you still wary of ? Didn’t I make it obvious that I would never lay my hand on you?" He asked.
"Never?" Alia asked, her eyes hopeful.
Cyrus looked into her hazel eyes for a second before smirking.
"I can’t promise that. Who will take off your clothes?" he started, and the girl widened her eyes before she leaned forward and placed her hand on his mouth quickly.
"Now you are not scared of ?" He asked.
Alia’s pupils dilated, and she was about to pull back when Cyrus placed his hand on her waist.
"You made a marvelous decision last ti, and Grandpa Grayson wanted to know if you would like to start participating in the royal council sitting. The family mbers can join it," Cyrus said.
He grabbed the file from the side and placed it before Alia, with her still sitting on his lap.
"These are the rules that you would need to abide by and –"
"Can I not do it?" Alia interrupted Cyrus.
Cyrus raised his brows. Was she denying such an aweso opportunity to be close to the royal decision-making committee? Besides, it would be a chance for her to learn so many things, even if she wasn’t a pawn for the healers.
"I want to concentrate on what I am good at," Alia whispered shyly.
Cyrus understood the aning behind her words and sighed.
"I will tell grandpa about it," He said before dialing Grayson’s number.
"Hello?" Grayson’s gruff voice ca from the other side.
"She said no," Cyrus said straightforwardly.
Grayson didn’t say anything for a few seconds.
"Brat. I am sure you had sothing to do with it. Your grandmother wants to et her. We will arrive soon. You better not try anything," Grayson said before ending the call.
Cyrus shrugged before throwing the phone away.
He was about to ask her how her practice was going when Alia rembered sothing.
"Is there a library in the royal palace, Mr. Valentino?" She asked.
"Honey," He said.
"Hmm?" Alia asked, confused.
"Call honey and I will tell you," He said shalessly.
Miss Quinn and Fabian smiled at their King’s attempt to get close to Alia and wondered if he was going a bit too fast.
It was what they decided a couple of days ago. Their King was still a little suspicious that Alia was hiding sothing from him, even if it wasn’t about healers, it was sothing, and he wanted to know what it was.
At that ti, they suggested that he should get close to her to gain her trust, and then she would open up to him slowly.
In their eyes, that was what their King was doing.
What they didn’t know was that in Cyrus’s head, his wolf was working more than usual to send dopamine and a good signal whenever he was with Alia so that Cyrus could beco addicted to her.
Why? Because he wondered if the reason he couldn’t change was that he hadn’t had sex yet. And as a supernatural creature who fed on sex and power, he wanted to try it too.
Of course, he wouldn’t tell Cyrus about it, or the man might freak out and send Alia away.
The wolf was letting Cyrus fall for Alia because, so far, she was the only girl who didn’t make him repulsed by her presence, and because she was their wife.
