Alia, who was about to sit in her previous seat, suddenly felt a dull ache in her hand and knew she needed to get out.
It was happening again.
Her attention snapped to her mark starting to glow, and she stiffened in her place, which didn’t go unnoticed by Cassius, observing the girl.
Alia looked at her grandpa’s happy face and then at Cyrus, unsure how to excuse herself.
"Ummm... I need to use the washroom quickly," Alia said. Panic engulfed her heart.
Cyrus looked at her with raised brows. He was sure she had bathed and used the washroom before coming down for dinner.
What was going on with her?
"Do you want to send soone with you—"
"No!" Alia said instinctively before realising how defensive she sounded.
"It’s fine. Please enjoy yourselves. I’ll be back soon," She didn’t give him the ti to say anything and dashed out of the dining hall.
Slamming the door behind herself, ensuring it was locked, Alia pulled up her sleeve and looked at the glaring, glowing mark on her throbbing skin.
Her nerves pulsated against her skin, and if she didn’t know any better, she would’ve definitely thought it was a living being under her skin that cos to life from ti to ti.
Alia rushed to the bathroom and washed the mark, hoping it would cool underwater, but nothing helped.
It burned like soone had placed a hot iron on her skin, and a whimper left her mouth.
As if heaven didn’t want to lend her any rcy, the pain in her wrist was joined by a sharp cutting pain in her jaws, and she nearly gagged at it.
Her hands flew to her mouth before she walked out and grabbed a clean piece of cloth.
She bit into the cloth as the pain in her mouth intensified.
"Mm!" She suppressed the urge to scream, tears welling in her eyes.
Like a daunting realisation, she noticed that it wasn’t particularly her jaws that were hurting.
It was her canines. But how was this possible? She was neither a vampire nor a pure werewolf, as a matter of fact.
She was a healer who didn’t have a wolf. She never felt any other presence in her head, always the emptiness.
Nothing made sense, not after the ache was primal and pointed towards one thing only.
Alia scrunched her nose when she slled her blood.
Taking the cloth out of her mouth, she saw the cloth soaked in blood, and her gaze deepened.
Across the world, in a realm untouched by humans, the sa mysterious hooded figures gathered around the ancient rock that spoke about ancient cultures and dynasties.
Must swirled around them as they checked around an orb, emanating pale blue light.
It was the sa light that reflected the increasing pain in Alia’s wrist as they continued chanting so foreign forbidden language.
"Are we sure about it? Royals surround her," One of the hooded figures asked.
"No ti is a better ti. She swore herself to the bright light. This opportunity wasn’t hers, but one bestowed upon her for one reason: the unlocking of an ancient mage’s power," Another hooded figure said.
People nodded in agreent.
"She was born with a purpose. Whether surrounded or not, she must rember. Rember what she promised," the hooded figure said.
Back in chambers, Alia gasped as her vision blurred and she saw sothing bright, almost blinding her with its light.
It looked familiar, sothing she had seen before.
Alia tried to rack her mories of her last life to rember if she had encountered sothing like that, but she couldn’t.
She moved her tongue against her swollen gums, tasting more blood, and rushed to the bathroom to rinse her mouth.
A knock on the door snapped her attention, and she froze montarily.
"Alia? Are you alright?" Cyrus asked, his voice not laced with concern but suspicion, and Alia nodded before rembering he couldn’t see her.
"I’m alright, Mr. Valentino. I just slipped and got my dress wet. Once I’m dressed, give five minutes to open the door," Alia said.
Cyrus lingered montarily before his dominating presence faded, indicating he had left.
Alia breathed a sigh of relief.
She washed her face when the pain subsided before wiping her face.
However, she froze when she saw her reflection in the mirror.
Her eyes, once a deeper shade of hazel, almost brown, looked a little lighter.
A pale golden-like ring circled her iris, and she stumbled back.
"What am I becoming?" She asked herself in shock.
The pain was dull, but the feeling of sothing changing inside her remained.
The glow went back to nothing. Her eyes turned normal again, and she changed into a new dress before opening the door.
Sowhere behind the veils, people watched her. She had been reborn, for sothing she didn’t know, but for sothing they were waiting for.
Alia walked back to the dining hall and plastered a slight smile on her face.
"You took your ti," Soone said, and her attention snapped to the man she had yet to et.
She looked at her husband for help.
However, Cyrus was in no mood for introductions and just sat there leisurely, making Cassius smile awkwardly while Grayson glared at his grandson.
"Cassius Evercrest, Cyrus’s aunt’s son," the man said, walking to her and extending his hand.
Alia shook his hand with grace before nodding at him.
"Alia Everleigh," She said softly.
"Not a Cooper?" Cassius remarked.
Cyrus raised his gaze at the man’s boldness. Was he trying to put her down?
However, before he could intervene, Alia smiled.
"I took my mother’s surna. Just like you," she said.
Cassius paused in his steps while Cyrus’s lips twitched, and he covered quickly while Grayson chuckled.
"I heard about the attack, Alia. How are you feeling now?" He asked.
Alia smiled.
"I fought back, Grandpa. I wasn’t going to let anything happen," she said.
Cyrus looked at the girl, a proud look taking over his face at her curt answer.
For so reason, she was becoming more likable.
"Her kiss is effective. Uhh...I can’t wait for this old man to leave so we can take her to the bedroom and remove that lace from her body. Rember how that covered pussy felt on us? Imagine how it would feel without any clothes. Let her impregnate us," Sylas’s unfiltered, vulgar thoughts entered Cyrus’s head, and he coughed loudly.
Everyone’s attention snapped to him, and he quickly downed the water.
Seriously, if it were possible, he would’ve pulled his wolf out by its throat and bashed it for giving him such thoughts.
Cyrus’s gaze darkened as his attention snapped to Alia, his gaze lingering on her breasts longer than it should’ve.
