That night, Cyrus didn’t contact Alia. Even when she kept calling him to know if he was doing alright, he didn’t pick up. Fabian did.

He told her that their boss was alright, but he had a little jiffy with the rogues, which caused his wolf to co out, and he is resting.

Alia understood how painful it must’ve been for him. After all, his wolf didn’t co out often, and his body must’ve taken a trendous toll and must be aching.

She asked Fabian if there was a way he could arrange a eting for her with Cyrus. She wanted to give her golden blood to Cyrus and help him heal faster. It was powerful and had magical properties. Not only will it aid in healing, but it will also strengthen his body to contain Sylas.

However, Fabian denied the request, saying that if Amora found out about it, they wouldn’t hear the end of it, and judging from how they caused problems with Dominic and Lilithia, she wasn’t exactly favoring them.

Alia nodded in understanding.

Her heart felt numb. She just wanted to hear Cyrus’s voice to calm her aching chest. Just hear his voice, and listen to him say that he loved her and that he would understand her decision, whatever it was. That he would support her, no matter what.

She wanted to hear all of it because she knew that her actions could backfire, and things might turn ugly for all of them.

Kyle had called her in the middle of the night, telling her everything was under control. He had managed to get ahold of Cyrus, but he was a bit out of control due to his wolf, and since he was so dominating, he couldn’t et her to ease her nerves.

Kyle inford her that Alia’s phone was being tapped, and no one was allowed to call her from outside. Additionally, every call from outside was likely being monitored.

Alia didn’t believe any of it. If they were tapping her phone, they would’ve known Dominic called her and...

Alia froze in realization. Dominic had called her from an unknown number, and not once did he ntion his na. He had the resources to call from a security guard’s number from the participants’ chambers themselves.

"I understand." She ended the call after saying that.

Alia lay in the bed for a long ti, unable to sleep, thinking about everything that could’ve gone right if Dominic hadn’t interrupted.

The last trial test was loyalty. She was ready to kill herself to prove her loyalty to the royalty and win.

Once she had won the title, she would’ve stood on that stage, before the entire world, hand-in-hand with Cyrus, earning a position that was always hers.

She imagined Cyrus kissing her before everyone and announcing that she was his mate to the entire world, that she was his rightful wife, the Luna to his wolf, and the Queen to the King.

Alia’s eyes brimd with tears for the second ti. After all, everything she was thinking about was just wishful thinking.

She wouldn’t participate because she couldn’t, and thus, she wouldn’t win or stand beside him.

It was seven in the morning when she finally decided that lying in bed wasn’t going to do her any good.

As a participant who wasn’t allowed to step out, she knew she would need to leave as soon as they were called for the third and final trial.

No one was responsible for taking them to the Palace’s throne room. Most Lunas were allowed to et their family briefly in that little ti. That was her ti too.

Alia wiped the corner of her eyes and stood from the bed, quickly grabbing the phone.

She had received the location where she was supposed to et Dominic. That man thought he was slick, but he wasn’t. He underestimated her once again by giving her the location two hours earlier.

Alia knew the man would be monitoring the royal army, Cyrus’s people, and anyone around her to ensure she wasn’t calling forces when going to that place. She wasn’t going to make the sa mistake of underestimating him like he did.

She dialed a number and waited for the person to pick up her call.

"Boss—" The man started, but Alia cleared her throat, a clear indication that they needed to keep the identity hidden or they were being monitored.

The man stopped whatever he was about to say and waited for Alia to speak.

"Troops. Things are ugly. 200." Alia said, concealing as much as she could while trying her best to make the man understand what she wanted.

The man on the other side humd.

"Done," he said.

Alia took a deep breath before hanging up the call. She quickly sent two locations to the man.

Dominic thought that Cyrus and his people were the only backup she could have. But he didn’t know that after being reborn, the first thing she did in the first two months was start to collect her people she could rely on during the hard tis. And today they were going to help her.

Alia took a bath and got ready for the day. She was heartbroken about what couldn’t happen and how disappointed Cyrus would be when he found out she wasn’t at the trials.

However, she was hoping that this sacrifice would at least save Cyrus’s mother. Even if Dominic decided to betray her, she had sent the two locations to the man for this purpose only.

The first location was where Dominic had called her, saying he would show her Cyrus’s mother. The second location was the Bentley Estate, where he had kept Cyrus’s mother chained for so long.

Alia was about to eat the breakfast that was sent to her room when she heard a slight tapping on the window and turned to see who it was.

Her pupils dilated when she saw Kyle standing there.

She quickly rushed to the window and opened it for him to enter. Quickly drawing the blinds, she looked at him with raised brows.

"Seriously? In broad daylight?" She asked.

Kyle chuckled.

He bent and placed a soft, lingering kiss on her forehead before handing the plastic flowers to her.

"Plastic?" Alia asked.

Kyle humd.

"If I had brought real flowers, the scent would’ve alerted the guards. Thus, I had to bring sothing as scentless as ," Kyle said.

Alia smiled at his thoughtfulness before shaking her head and pulling him to the chair where her breakfast was.

"So what compelled you to risk everything and co here at this ti?" she asked before taking a bite of the toast.

She offered the toast to him, but Kyle shook his head.

"I just wanted to see my mate before the last trial. Today, after winning, you’ll stand by Cyrus’s side and claim the throne of the queen that always belonged to you. And once Grayson is alright, my identity will be announced to the world, making you my queen too," Kyle said.

His eyes bead with excitent at the last sentence, and Alia’s smile faltered a bit.

She quickly looked down at the breakfast plate to conceal her emotions and blinked her eyes furiously to keep the tears away.

"It sounds exciting," Alia tried to play along.

Kyle nodded.

"I know, right? I was against the idea of the trials at the beginning when I saw how much you’d need to risk and struggle when you are rightfully a queen, but seeing how we are at the last phase and how you’ll be recognized worldwide, I just can’t help but feel happy," Kyle said with an enchanting smile.

He didn’t need to tell how happy and excited he was through words; his expression said it all.

Alia looked into his eyes, her heart breaking even more. She thought she would only be breaking Cyrus’s heart by being absent for the last phase, but she didn’t know Kyle also wanted to see her win so badly.

"I love you, Alia," Kyle whispered, holding her hands, and Alia couldn’t help herself as a rogue tear rolled down her cheeks.

Kyle’s expression shifted.

"Hey, what’s wrong? Is sothing bothering you? What happened?" Kyle pulled her close, on his lap, half hugging her.

Alia shook her head before placing her head on his chest, suppressing the urge to cry.

"It’s nothing. You blurted it out so suddenly, and I couldn’t help but feel emotional. What did I do to have such loving mates?" Alia twisted the facts.

Kyle chuckled at her words before pulling her head up to make her look at him.

"What did you do? You have such a beautiful soul. We are lucky to have you. Not the other way around," Kyle pecked her lips before he stood.

He didn’t want to take too much of her ti or delay her. He kissed her one last ti to wish her good luck before he left.

Alia’s smile vanished as soon as she saw Kyle leaving, her gaze shifting to the plastic flower bouquet he brought for her.

She took a deep breath before closing her eyes, cursing her luck for whatever was happening, and apologized to her mates in her heart for what she was going to do next.
