Originally, she wasn’t pleased with his background, but Ye Binyi felt a little better after hearing Wenxiu say that he was a novelist. Influenced by her upbringing, she had a particular fondness for people who worked in the cultural field. After chatting for a while longer, Jia Wenxiu promised, "I’ll bring him to et you one of these days. Let’s not talk about this now; let’s go out for a walk."

Ye Binyi smiled, "Yes, let’s go watch a movie. I haven’t seen a movie in ages."

Jia Wenxiu lowered her eyes, a troubled look flashing across her gentle, sweet face. She pulled Ye Binyi closer and said, "Mom, actually, I’ve heard my classmates talk about the plot of that movie. How about we don’t bring Yanyan along? It’s a love story, after all. Yanyan is still young; watching it might influence him."

Ye Binyi exclaid in surprise, "I know it’s a love story, but it’s not like it’ll have such a huge impact. Yanyan’s too young to really understand it anyway; taking him is just for the novelty of it." Just hearing the title of the movie, one could tell that it was about romance. But the thing about love stories is that they tend to be subtle, neither fully expressed nor articulated—hesitant and ambiguous.

This kind of restrained storytelling is hard for a child to pick up on.

Jia Wenxiu bit her lower lip uneasily and glanced at her mother. "But this movie is different. My classmates said it’s quite open. In any case, it’s not good for kids to watch. Mom, you don’t know—ever since the policies were relaxed, society has beco more and more open. That’s why Beijing recently started taking actions to curb those who are excessively liberal."

Ye Binyi remained silent for a mont. Seeing her daughter’s unnatural expression only deepened her suspicions. An open movie? That boy Zhao Chun always seed so refined and cultured—how could he be involved with sothing like an open movie? To prevent her grandson from being influenced, Ye Binyi left ng Shuyan with the Jiang Family patriarch and went to the cinema with Wenxiu.

On the way, Ye Binyi couldn’t help but feel curious. What exactly constitutes an open movie?

The two of them bought tickets and entered the cinema. The movie hadn’t started yet, and the lights were still on in the theater. They found their seats and sat down. Looking around at the others in the hall, they saw that everyone’s faces were brimming with happiness—it was all n and won, clearly couples.

"Looks like these people are mostly couples. The audience for this movie doesn’t seem very broad," said Ye Binyi, dressed in an unmistakably elegant, bourgeois style but now entirely out of place here. Everyone else was with a man, while she had brought her daughter along.

Jia Wenxiu, holding a freshly bought bag of popcorn, replied cheerfully, "It’s a love story, after all. Of course, the audience is mostly young couples or married pairs. Today, though, my mom and I are sothing of an oddity."

Ye Binyi gave a conditioned smile, "That’s not necessarily the case. A few years ago, books that were previously banned ca back into circulation, including *City of Love*. Later, they even made it into a movie—I went out of my way to see it."

"Mom, that’s literary romance. Of course, it’s in a league of its own," Jia Wenxiu chid in, pointing ahead. "It’s about to start."

The lights in the theater went out, plunging it into darkness, with only the glow of the projection screen illuminating the space.

"This is my second ti watching it. Zhou Yun is so beautiful—I like her so much."

"Yeah, Geng Hua is quite good-looking too. The two of them are so perfect together."

"This is your second ti watching it? Have you counted how many outfits Zhou Yun changes into? Every ti I try, I lose count halfway through."

"Let’s count together this ti. We have to get it right."

The chatter of young people drifted into Ye Binyi’s ears from the row in front of her.

Ye Binyi looked up, her eyes fixed on the screen. So ti ago, a few professors in her departnt had also discussed *Lushan Love*. They seed to grow younger and younger with age. But her? These past few years, she felt increasingly out of touch with the world.

The opening song of the movie played—a familiar tune, perford by a renowned soprano in the country.

After the bold title *Lushan Love* appeared on the screen, the picturesque Lushan scenery took over—lush mountains and pristine waters, as though sculpted by nature itself.

Starring: Tian Sangsang, Zhao Chun, He Saifei

...

The sound of clear, endearing laughter filled the air as the screen showed a stunningly beautiful woman. She was in a pavilion, shrouded by a swirling white mist, as the orange-red rays of dawn gently bathed the land. Spinning round and round, her skirt flared up with her lodious giggles, making her look like a celestial being—pure, radiant, and too exquisite for words.

Jia Wenxiu turned her head slightly to look at her mother and said with a smile, "Zhou Yun really is gorgeous. All my classmates like her, especially the boys. I used to find it hard to accept, but seeing her today—I have to admit she’s truly a gem."

A flash of unease streaked through Ye Binyi’s heart. Whatever Jia Wenxiu was saying faded into nothingness in her ears. Her mind and eyes were consud by one detail: Tian Sangsang. That was strange—she had the sa na as her daughter-in-law. She looked closer. The woman onscreen, the protagonist, bore her daughter-in-law’s face.

A na in common, and now a face?

Ye Binyi stared at the screen with a severe expression, her gaze fixed. Ti flowed with the rhythm of the movie, the rest of the audience drowning in blackness until it felt like only she remained, her world bound to the film.

She didn’t follow the plot at all. Her eyes were locked on the woman onscreen. The earlier scenes were fairly ta, though the woman’s clothes were stunning beyond words. Despite coming from a distinguished family herself, Ye Binyi conceded her own wardrobe wasn’t as fashionable by comparison.

Then ca a scene where the male and female leads reunited after years apart and went swimming together in Lushan. The female lead wore a swimsuit, revealing nearly everything, her pale skin dazzling in full display.

Not to ntion, the male lead was also in a swimsuit. The two of them leaned against each other, laughing and chatting with ease.

Ye Binyi’s conservative nature caused her face to darken with fury, her hands curling into tight fists.

Still, this wasn’t enough to cause her to explode—until—

The female lead kissed the male lead’s cheek and, hugging him with a radiant smile, said, "There’s no one else—just us."

Ye Binyi pressed a hand to her chest and shot up from her seat. "Shaless! Absolutely disgraceful!"

Her sudden movent blocked the view of those sitting behind her, and discontented murmurs erupted.

Jia Wenxiu cast a furtive glance at her enraged mother, a gleeful satisfaction flickering in her eyes.

"Mom, what’s wrong?"

"We’re leaving!"

Ye Binyi turned and strode toward the theater exit. Even under the blazing lights outside, her anger hadn’t dissipated. She clutched her chest in pain, struggling to breathe.

"Mom! Mom!" Jia Wenxiu cried out in alarm, supporting her mother as she dug into her bag for a bottle of dication. She shook out a pill and helped Ye Binyi take it. After swallowing the pill, Ye Binyi seed briefly removed from reality, her face pale but slightly less ghastly.

"Mom, what happened? Your face looks terrible. Let’s find sowhere to sit down," Jia Wenxiu suggested.

Ye Binyi gritted her teeth and nodded. Following Wenxiu, they ended up in a small restaurant. Even after taking a sip of water, Ye Binyi’s emotions refused to settle. "That actress just now—that was your sister-in-law, Tian Sangsang."

Jia Wenxiu frowned but remained silent, rely staring at her mother.

"I’ve been far too courteous with her recently. If I had seen this movie earlier, I would have kicked her out the mont Jinghuai brought her ho. What does she think my son is? Now look, everyone across the entire country who’s seen the movie knows what she’s been doing behind my son’s back. If this had been done before marriage, maybe I could forgive it, but I can tell this was shot after they were married. That woman—she’s treating our Jiang Family like so kind of public market!!!" Ye Binyi fud on behalf of her son. What kind of woman had he married? Boldly and openly cozying up with another man!
