The closer they got to their destination, the less she dared to sleep. Tian Sangsang spent the whole night in light sleep. By the next day, before eight o’clock, the train had arrived at the station. In the early morning, the weather was very cold, with light snow falling from the sky.
Tian Sangsang first put a hat on ng Shuyan, then a little blue cotton jacket, wrapped a yellow scarf around him, and only stopped when he was bundled up like a dumpling.
At first glance, he looked like a freshly stead bun in winter.
ng Shuyan’s eyes curved as he giggled, "Mom, I feel like a little duck." As he spoke, warm breath drifted into the air.
"In winter, ducks are too frozen to walk." Tian Sangsang said, "You’re a little penguin." She also gave him a milk candy to slowly chew on.
ng Shuyan was very satisfied, smacking his lips without saying another word, savoring the milk candy, and curiously scanning his surroundings with sparkling eyes.
Everyone here was wearing hats. It was cold in winter, so Tian Sangsang didn’t tie up her hair, just put on a hat, and wore an old white down jacket she had prepared long ago. Down jackets weren’t very popular at this ti, but they weren’t unseen. She wasn’t afraid that Jiang Jinghuai would beco suspicious; she would just say it was a piece she picked up during a trip to Hong Kong for a shoot.
Standing confused among the crowd, looking around for a long ti without spotting Jiang Jinghuai.
"Hey, where’s your dad?" Holding their luggage, a hint of confusion flickered in Tian Sangsang’s eyes.
"Right, where’s dad?" ng Shuyan’s heart felt a chill.
The mother and son stood dumbfounded in the crowd, cold wind whipping past them, creating a chilly feeling. Tian Sangsang finally realized the fact that Jiang Jinghuai hadn’t co to pick them up.
However, a young soldier in a military uniform quickly approached them, with a hint of probing in his words: "Ma’am, are you the wife of our Camp Commander Jiang?"
Tian Sangsang imdiately looked at him: "Your commander is Jiang Jinghuai?" She hadn’t expected him to be transferred here as a camp commander, although it was still a formality.
"Yes! Yes!" The soldier’s eyes imdiately beca respectful, taking her luggage enthusiastically, "Ma’am, let carry that for you!" He said, taking all the big bags by himself.
"Our commander is busy and couldn’t make it, so he specifically sent to fetch you and the little nephew." This newly transferred commander was quite strict. The young soldier was nothing but respectful towards the commander’s woman.
"How did you recognize ?" Tian Sangsang was grateful for his help with the luggage and curiously asked.
"Our commander said, among the crowd, she’s the most beautiful one and would be with a little boy." The young soldier chuckled, not daring to look directly at Tian Sangsang: "I’ve been waiting here for quite a while, and when the people got off the train, the most beautiful one was obviously you, ma’am. I recognized you at once." He wouldn’t forget the unintended gentleness in their commander’s eyes when he said those words, which was truly startling.
How lucky the commander is, not only handso but his wife is so beautiful!
Hearing these words, Tian Sangsang felt a bit sweet inside. She didn’t expect Jiang Jinghuai, who usually didn’t give complints, to sound like he’d sared honey when he did complint soone. She liked this kind of praise~
Unfamiliar with the surroundings, Tian Sangsang held ng Shuyan’s hand following the young soldier while familiarizing herself with the terrain, realizing she still didn’t know what to call this young soldier.
Outside the platform, a green military vehicle was parked. The young soldier loaded their belongings onto the vehicle and said, "Ma’am, you may get in."
"Thank you, comrade," Tian Sangsang sincerely expressed her gratitude.
"Thank you, Uncle," ng Shuyan solemnly saluted.
This made the young soldier’s heart burst with joy. The little guy resembled their commander quite a bit; his smile was truly adorable. Embarrassedly touching his hat, he said, "Ma’am, I’m one of our commander’s soldiers, you can just call Xiao Yang. If you need anything in the future, feel free to call on ."
Xiao Yang felt honored to be sent to pick up the commander’s wife. Everyone was curious to see what she was like. Upon eting her, he found her to be elegantly urban, yet approachable without airs. Most importantly, she was beautiful!
For soone like that to co to this remote mountainous area, it must definitely be true love! Xiao Yang silently contemplated, feeling deeply touched. When might he find soone like that too, not asking for soone more beautiful than their lady, just hoping for soone as good in character.
Had Tian Sangsang known his thoughts, she would’ve been overjoyed. Everyone forgot what she used to be like, assuming she couldn’t handle hardship. In truth, she wasn’t afraid of hardship and had endured it before; as long as the family stayed together happily, any place was sweet, wasn’t it? Sotis it’s just about whether there’s soone you’re willing to suffer for.
The vehicle moved at a slow pace, as the roads were snowy. Snow blanketed the ground, stretching out, surrounded by the high and low undulating mountains, invoking awe for the grandeur of nature.
"Mom, there’s so much snow here." Having never seen such a magnificent snowy scene, ng Shuyan was stunned, feeling a surge of reverence in his small heart. This world was indeed vast; the place he’d been before seed tiny in comparison.
"Yeah, do you like snow?"
"I like it!" ng Shuyan vigorously nodded, suddenly widening his eyes, exclaiming in a low voice, "Look, mom!"
Tian Sangsang rubbed his head, "That’s a cal." Gosh, she used to dream of traveling to X Province in her past life, but with tight finances, it wasn’t possible! Unexpectedly, now she was finally here!
Ti slipped away amidst the mother and son’s cheerful laughter, while Xiao Yang driving the car listened to their conversation with amusent.
"We’re here, ma’am."
Tian Sangsang carried ng Shuyan out of the car, observing the rows of family quarters, all single-storied, unlike the convenience of the city.
Outside the room, Xiao Yang took out a key for her, arranged by Jiang Jinghuai. After they went inside, Xiao Yang left. He had to quickly return and report back to the commander.
Once Tian Sangsang regained her composure, wanting to thank him again, he was already out of sight.
The room was clean, showing signs of having been tidied. Tian Sangsang placed their luggage down and looked around. There was one East Room and one West Room, with the central room serving as both living room and kitchen, plus a storage room, and nothing else.
"Yanyan, are you hungry? Have a little sothing first." Tian Sangsang, well-prepared, took out so homade sweet treats for him to snack on. Hearing sounds from outside, thinking it might be the military wives, it was ti to et her neighbors.
The people here were more enthusiastic than Tian Sangsang expected. She had thought it would be like the last ti, under scrutiny again. But the won here looked at her with kindness. Happily, Tian Sangsang shared so Southern specialties she had prepared, as well as homade cakes, sweets, specialty dishes, and jars of goodies.
They gave her return gifts, mostly cured ats, beef, mutton, and others, which greatly intrigued Tian Sangsang, who gladly accepted them.
