"When I saw Qianqian lying in the hospital bed, it reminded of Xiao Wei lying there back then. I was busy working in the city at the ti, hardly ever at ho, and I never cared about Xiao Wei the way I should have. Then she passed away suddenly—I failed her. If Qianqian ended up like her, I’d never be able to forgive myself."
"Qianqian’s doing well now," Shui Lian reassured him. "If Xiao Wei knew how you are now, she’d rest in peace."
Xu Yiyuan feebly nodded, saying no more. Resting in peace wouldn’t change anything. During her lifeti, he hadn’t fulfilled his duties as a husband; only after her death did he regret. The hardest thing in life to obtain is a cure for regret.

Xu Yiyuan paused and gazed outside the window, lost in thought.

In the hallway, Tian Sangsang stood pressed against the wall, wiping her tear-streaked face. Quickly, she walked forward and, seeing a trash bin by the wall, tossed the al she had brought into it.
