Max smiled coldly. "As you wish." His next attack ca from an unexpected angle, his rapier sweeping low before suddenly changing direction. "Radiant Dawn: Containnt Field!"

Golden light erupted from the arena floor in a circular pattern around Grim, forming a barrier that restricted his movent. The technique wasn’t directly damaging, but it limited Grim’s ability to maneuver, forcing him to expend more energy to break free.

Trapped within the containnt field, Grim assessed his options. Breaking the field would drain his mana, but remaining inside would leave him vulnerable to Max’s next attack. He closed his eyes briefly, centering himself.

"Celestial Mist: Serenity’s Ascension!"

The technique worked, but Grim could feel the cost. He began feeling light headed.

Max didn’t wait for him to recover. "Radiant Dawn: Solar Binding!"

Tendrils of golden light shot from Max’s rapier, seeking to entangle Grim’s limbs.

Grim sliced through the first tendril, but two more wrapped around his left arm and leg. The bindings tightened, restricting his movent and slowly sapping his strength. He felt Luna respond to his predicant, the sword humming with energy as it drew deeper on his reserves.

[Careful,] the voice warned.

Grim gritted his teeth. He needed to break free without depleting himself further. With a sudden twist, he drove Luna into the arena floor.

"Celestial Mist: Thousand Paths!"

The technique had freed Grim, but at significant cost. His breathing was now labored, sweat beading on his forehead. His blade felt heavier and the edges of his vision had begun to blur.

Max recognized his opponent’s condition and pressed his advantage. "You’re finished, Ambrose. House Luminaris will prevail, as it always has."

"Radiant Dawn: Solar Flare!"

"Celestial Mist: Ethereal Mist"

As Max committed to his attack, Grim seed to fade like morning mist, his form becoming montarily insubstantial. Max’s blazing rapier passed through the space where Grim had been, finding no resistance.

Before Max could recover his balance, Grim solidified behind him. "Celestial Mist: Serenity’s Fall."

The blade caught Max across the back, not deep enough to cause serious injury but sufficient to draw blood and send him staggering forward. The crowd gasped as crimson stained his outfit and tore his outfit so his back was showing.

Max whirled, his face a mask of shock and rage. For the first ti, doubt flickered in his eyes.

The answer ca swiftly. As Max recovered and prepared to attack again, Grim swayed slightly, Luna’s tip dipping toward the arena floor. The silver mist that had surrounded his blade thinned visibly, its glow dimming.

Mana exhaustion had finally caught up with him.

Max saw the weakness and his confidence returned. "Not so strong now, are you?" He circled, rapier at the ready. "I’m going to enjoy this."

Grim straightened with visible effort. His blade felt like lead weight in his hands, each movent requiring conscious effort.

In the stands, Julius Luminaris smiled coldly. "It’s over. House Ambrose falls again."

Lianna watched in tense silence, hands clasped together in silent prayer.

Max approached cautiously, having learned from his earlier mistake. His rapier began to glow once more, but this ti the light was more controlled, more focused. "Radiant Dawn: Light’s Prison."

Golden light erupted from the ground around Grim, forming a do-like structure that began to contract. Unlike the earlier containnt field, this technique was designed to crush soone.

The voice in his mind was silent now, which Grim knew was a bad sign.

The do continued to contract. In the imperial box, Archmage Marcus rose slightly from his seat, his eyes fixed on the struggling figure of Grim.

"It appears this match is nearing its conclusion," the Empress remarked.

"Perhaps," Marcus replied softly. "But I wouldn’t count out House Ambrose just yet."

Inside the golden prison, Grim felt the pressure increasing, forcing him to his knees. Max watched from outside, satisfaction evident in his expression. The crowd had gone silent, sensing the impending end of the match.

"Yield, Ambrose," Max called. "Save whatever dignity you have left."

Grim raised his head, eting Max’s gaze through the golden barrier. "House Ambrose does not yield to House Luminaris." With trendous effort, he lifted Luna once more.

"Celestial Mist: Thousand Paths."

For a mont, nothing happened. Then the light prison shattered. The golden do fractured and crumbled.

Grim rose to his feet.

Max recovered quickly, preparing to counter this unexpected resurgence. "Impressive, but futile. You can barely stand."

The two opponents faced each other across the arena, one surrounded by golden light, the other by mist.

In the stands, Julius leaned forward, tension evident in his posture. Lianna watched with bated breath. The Empress and her entourage observed in silence, awaiting the next exchange.

The silver mist around Grim began to condense, gathering around his blade. Max’s golden light intensified in response. The crowd held its breath, sensing the decisive mont approaching.

The two opponents charged simultaneously, their blades leaving trails of light across the arena.

"Radiant Dawn: Sunburst Strike!"

"Celestial Mist: Seven Sword Strike!"

Their techniques collided in the center of the arena in an explosion of golden and blue energy that forced spectators to shield their eyes. When the light faded and vision returned, both fighters stood frozen in their final positions, backs to each other, the outco of their clash not imdiately apparent.

Then Max staggered, crimson blooming across his pristine white uniform in seven distinct spots. He turned slowly, disbelief etched on his face.

Behind him, Grim collapsed to one knee, Echo’s tip embedded in the arena floor as he used the sword to support himself. His technique had connected, but the cost had been enormous.

Max straightened, his pride overcoming his pain. "This isn’t over," he declared, turning to face his kneeling opponent.

The rapier in his hand began to glow once more, but the light was fainter now. "Radiant Dawn: Final Illumination!"

As Max raised his rapier for what might be the decisive strike, the air in the arena seed to still. Grim remained on one knee, his strength almost spent but his resolve unbroken.
