The pain of losing her grandson compounded with Xu He’s abuse towards Zhou Yuni was driving Zhou Yuni to the brink of insanity. Without any care for the consequences, she stord over and grabbed Xu He by the hair, then started slamming her head against the wall like a relentless engine.
With such force, Xu He saw stars the mont her head hit the wall, and she nearly passed out.
Seeing Zhou Yuni’s ferocious stance, it really seed as if she was intent on taking Xu He’s life. Xu He was terrified she would die right there and then, so with all the strength akin to that of nine oxen and two tigers, she pushed Zhou Yuni away and ran towards the door.
However, she forgot that with the recent events, the Luo family mother and son were completely broken down. They no longer cared about their future lives and were solely focused on torturing Xu He to death. It was as though Xu He’s death was the only remaining purpose in their lives, so naturally, they wouldn’t let her escape easily.
The mont Xu He reached the door, she collided with Luo Zhiming, who was standing guard with a knife. Seeing Xu He still daring to fight back at such a mont, he was so livid that his eyes were blood-red. When Xu He approached, he unhesitatingly swung the knife directly at her without any thought for the consequences.
In the face of death, many people find boundless potential. Xu He was no exception, and although Luo Zhiming’s strike looked inescapable, sohow she managed to step back just in ti; but she was not entirely unscathed, and Luo Zhiming’s knife still struck her back.
Imdiately, blood gushed from Xu He’s back.
That vivid red blood seed to stimulate Luo Zhiming even further. Excitedly, he yelled, "Great, Xu He, I’m going to kill you today, kill you!"
Frightened, Xu He desperately tried to hide anywhere she could in the already cramped house, all the while trying to dissuade Luo Zhiming, who was on the verge of madness, "Stop, if you kill , you won’t get away with it either, you’ll spend your life in prison."
Luo Zhiming was completely unmoved and with a bloodthirsty smile, retorted, "I never intended to keep living. What do I have to fear about prison?"
Seeing that she couldn’t persuade Luo Zhiming, Xu He imdiately sought refuge behind Zhou Yuni, grabbing her and pleading earnestly, "Zhou Yuni, are you really prepared to watch your son spend the rest of his life in jail?"
Although Zhou Yuni was so angry upon learning that her grandson was not her biological grandchild that she wanted to kill Xu He right away, she was still more rational compared to Luo Zhiming. After hearing Xu He’s words, she completely understood the stakes.
While she did not oppose giving Xu He a beating or torturing her to near death, the idea of committing murder was too daunting for her, and she couldn’t let her son do it either.
She swiftly stood up and took hold of Luo Zhiming, urgently persuading him, "Zhiming, stop, don’t do anything stupid, your mother still relies on you to provide for her when she’s old."
Luo Zhiming, being blocked by Zhou Yuni and unable to vent his anger, yet unable to hurt Zhou Yuni, could only exclaim in extre frustration, "Mother, I have nothing, my life is as good as over."
"Nothing left?" Zhou Yuni repeated, looking around, hoping to find sothing to reignite her son’s will to fight. Eventually, her eyes stopped on the bankbook Luo Zhiming had thrown on the bed earlier. Rembering the money in that bankbook, an idea suddenly sprang to Zhou Yuni’s mind.
Her eyes instantly widened with a shimr of bright light. She walked over, grabbed the passbook, pointed at the numbers, and shouted at Luo Zhiming, "No, no, you still have money, so much money. It’s enough for anything, and besides, you do have a son, you have Haohao."
Seeing Zhou Yuni’s reaction, Xu He imdiately understood what Zhou Yuni was up to. She instinctively wanted to object, "That money..."
Zhou Yuni, every bit as fixated on money as Xu He, cut her off loudly and uncompromisingly, "Xu He, two options, you give us all this money and you leave—no more ties between us—or you die here today."
Faced with life or money, Xu He naturally chose her life, and she could only nod in agreent, "Fine, the money is yours, I don’t want it."
At this mont, Xu He was consud with regret. If only she had known this would be the outco, she should have fled far away with Shuanzi’s money right from the start. Why did she still covet the Luo Family’s support and a stable ho?
Seeing Xu He willing to leave the money behind, Zhou Yuni already started planning how she would spend it.
With this money, she could buy a small house in the city, even if it was sowhat old or closer to the suburbs was fine. As long as they had a house in the city, she and Zhiming would be city dwellers. With city residency, Luo Zhiming wouldn’t fear not finding a bride.
As for a grandson, to be honest, if there really wasn’t one, Zhou Yuni once again set her sights on Haohao.
Although still frustrated, Zhou Yuni knew what mattered more. She nodded at Xu He, "Alright..."
However, Luo Zhiming refused to let Xu He off so easily. He suddenly rushed over, grabbed the passbook from Zhou Yuni’s hands, stomped on it several tis on the ground, and shouted loudly, "No, I want nothing, I only want her dead, I want her dead!"
After he spoke, Luo Zhiming raised the knife again to strike down at Xu He.
But before he could strike, the door suddenly burst open, and several people walked in. The one leading the group wrapped an arm around Luo Zhiming and tried to calm him, "Stop, she’s right. If you kill her, you won’t gain anything. Why ruin your life over such a woman?"
Looking at these people who seed as if sent from heaven, the three people in the room were stunned. After a mont, they ca to their senses, and Luo Zhiming asked blankly, "Who are you?"
"We were sent by your sister-in-law to watch over you, fearing you’d do sothing foolish." Along with the voice, Luo Zhiyong’s tall figure erged at the door.
Seeing Luo Zhiyong, Luo Zhiming suddenly felt as if all strength had drained from his body, and he began to sob uncontrollably. Then he fell to his knees in front of Luo Zhiyong, crying out, "Big brother... I was wrong, so terribly wrong. My mistake was letting desire blind , seeing that this witch was pretty and mindlessly doing everything to be with her, even ignoring my own family, I..."
Luo Zhiyong looked down at Luo Zhiming, crying at his feet like a child, and he, too, heaved a long sigh. If only the old Luo Zhiming had realized and reflected earlier, he would never have ended up in such a state.
People always seem to only learn what they shouldn’t have done after making mistakes or losing sothing.
