Luo Zhiyong, though not as ticulous in his thoughts as Fang Pingying, latched onto her detailed explanations coupled with the undercurrent of suspicion in her speech. He easily grasped what she was hinting at. His expression darkened, and he agreed, "Alright, I’ll go over there."
Due to Luo Cuilan’s disappearance, Fang Pingying had lost the mood to take the kids out for fun. She directly took them to the shop instead, letting the little ones play in the back while she tidied up in the front, waiting for Luo Zhiyong to return.
Luo Zhiyong had initially intended to go straight to Luo Zhiming’s place, but he wasn’t sure of the exact location. After leaving the downstairs of his ho, he gave it so thought and decided to visit Luo Dashan to ask where Luo Zhiming was living.
When Luo Dashan and Luo Honglan heard that Luo Cuilan had suddenly gone missing, they were so anxious they insisted on joining the search.
Luo Zhiyong had initially agreed, but recalling the words Fang Pingying had emphasized, he thought if there was indeed a conspiracy or if Luo Cuilan really had encountered foul play, it would be better to keep the matter among as few people as possible for now.
Hence, he stopped Luo Dashan from going, saying he would only take Luo Honglan with him.
In his heart, he reasoned that if there was any insider information, Luo Honglan might ask more precise questions. Given the current state of his relationship with Zhou Yuni, they had no words left for each other.
Upon arriving at the Luo family’s place, Zhou Yuni and Xu He were in the midst of an argunt due to the situation.
Zhou Yuni also grew anxious when she learned from the Fang family that Luo Cuilan was missing. So, as soon as she got ho, she told Xu He to call Luo Zhiming back, as they needed to search for Luo Cuilan.
Xu He thought that Luo Cuilan had been killed by Shuanzi and was naturally unwilling to let Zhou Yuni investigate the matter. She intended to hide it for as long as possible, and after so ti, she even planned to move away for a while to let the incident with Luo Cuilan blow over.
Now the matter was being pursued, and it would inevitably lead back to her, so she made up excuses to prevent Zhou Yuni from calling Luo Zhiming back.
She even resorted to using the child as leverage, threatening that if Zhou Yuni dared to find and bring back Luo Cuilan, she would take the child and leave.
Of course, her excuse was the sa reason Luo Zhiming had previously driven away Luo Cuilan—that Luo Cuilan had wronged her.
Zhou Yuni felt Xu He’s reaction was too extre, and after a brief argunt, the importance of her eldest grandson outweighed everything else. Despite the quarrel, she refrained from insisting on searching for Luo Cuilan.
Luo Zhiyong and Luo Honglan listened outside for a while before entering the yard, but Luo Zhiyong had already made so considerations before stepping in.
After they entered the room, Zhou Yuni and Xu He were taken aback to see them, particularly upon seeing Luo Zhiyong. A flicker of excitent crossed Zhou Yuni’s heart.
She had forgotten exactly when it started, but Luo Zhiyong had ceased to approach her on his own, even refusing to converse with her beyond the necessary.
Now, Luo Zhiyong had actually taken the initiative to visit, and regardless of the reason, she felt hopeful that perhaps Luo Zhiyong had softened a bit.
In Zhou Yuni’s heart, she still wanted to reconcile with Luo Zhiyong; after all, she wouldn’t lose out by doing so.
After a mont of stunned silence, a smile appeared on Zhou Yuni’s face. Then, looking at Luo Zhiyong almost tentatively, she asked, "Zhiyong, how co you’re here?"
"We ca..."
Just as Luo Honglan was about to respond, Luo Zhiyong tily cut in, then continued saying, "It’s nothing, I just heard from Pingying that Zhiming had a child, so we ca over to have a look."
Seeing the look of astonishnt on both Zhou Yuni and Xu He, Luo Zhiyong seed to explain, "It was Dad who sent us over. Originally, he wanted to co too, but he wasn’t feeling well. I thought, after all, Zhiming’s child is also my nephew, right?"
"That’s right, that’s right, he is a nephew, a relative." Upon hearing Luo Zhiyong say this, Zhou Yuni was convinced that Luo Zhiyong had softened and was willing to forgive them. Overjoyed, she imdiately said with a smile, "It’s good that you’re here, let’s have lunch together. Have a seat first, I’ll go buy so groceries."
However, Xu He was not happy to see this scene. She wouldn’t let Zhou Yuni, Luo Zhiming, and Luo Zhiyong reconcile. Right away, she pulled a long face and said without good humor, "What groceries? There isn’t any money left to buy food for so irrelevant people."
After saying this, she thrust the child in her arms towards Luo Zhiyong and Luo Honglan, only to snatch it back imdiately and shouted, "Aren’t you here to see your nephew? Go ahead, look, and leave right away. Zhiming and I are poor folks, certainly not your match, esteed uncle and aunt with your high statuses."
"You..."
Luo Honglan hadn’t finished her sentence when Luo Zhiyong raised his hand to stop her. Then, watching Xu He for a mont, he spoke lightly but firmly, "Xu He, don’t be too arrogant. Just because no one is speaking out about the things you’ve done now, doesn’t an no one knows. The truth will always remain the truth, and it will inevitably co to light one day."
"Exactly, do you really think you’re sothing special just because you’ve had a child? This child of yours, I think..." Luo Honglan, also furious, was about to spill the child’s secret.
But she was blocked by Luo Zhiyong. If it weren’t for the matter with Luo Cuilan hanging in the balance, Luo Zhiyong would not hold back today; getting everything out in the open would be better. No matter what, Luo Zhiming was his own brother, Zhou Yuni was his mother. He didn’t want them to be deceived for a lifeti, but now they had to find Luo Cuilan first.
He simply shook his head at Luo Honglan and then called out to her, "Honglan, since she doesn’t welco us to see the child, let’s just leave."
After he spoke, Luo Zhiyong also looked at Zhou Yuni and said, "We’re leaving now."
Zhou Yuni was actually a bit confused by what Luo Zhiyong and the others had said, along with their expressions. Her heart began to suspect that these people were hiding sothing from her. However, in front of everyone, she didn’t inquire.
She just nodded at Luo Zhiyong, "I’ll walk you out."
Luo Zhiyong didn’t refuse, since he had originally hoped to have a word in private with Zhou Yuni.
So, when the three of them had walked about a few dozen ters out of the house, far enough that Xu He inside would definitely not be able to hear them, Luo Zhiyong stopped and looked at Zhou Yuni with a serious expression, asking, "Tell carefully, exactly which day did Cuilan disappear, What happened here at that ti, did Cuilan say anything to you, and where do you think Cuilan might have gone?"
After hearing this, Zhou Yuni nodded, then carefully recalled the scene of that day, and eventually didn’t keep anything back, telling Luo Zhiyong about the events that had occurred in the days leading up to and after Luo Cuilan’s departure.
