Seeing Luo Honglan had agreed, Fang Pingying left the courtyard.

When Zhou Yuni saw her leaving, she asked, "We’re about to start cooking. Where are you going?"

Fang Pingying didn’t say that she was going out to call Luo Zhiming and the others to co back, she just said, "I’ll be right back. I’ve already told Honglan to cook. Once the rice is done, I’ll co back to stir-fry the dishes."

Back at her family ho, only Fang Ping’an was there, Li Yuchun was chatting with soone at the village head and hadn’t returned, and neither Luo Zhiming nor Fang Xiu was seen.

Fang Pingying called out to Fang Ping’an and asked him, "Dad, lunch hasn’t been cooked yet at ho."

Fang Ping’an was also surprised to see Fang Pingying return. He stood up, smiled, and waved his hand, "It’s still early. Let’s wait for your mom to co back before preparing. I don’t know how."

Fang Pingying saw that things at ho were in disarray, even the bowls from breakfast hadn’t been washed.

These tasks used to be hers, now that she has left, Li Yuchun would probably do them if she felt like it, if not, she’d just leave them as they were.

She shook her head and swiftly helped tidy up the courtyard.

When Fang Ping’an saw this, he called out to her, "Stop it. Let your mom handle it when she’s back. Co and rest for a bit."

"No rest needed, I ca to call Zhiming and Xiu’er back for lunch. I need to hurry back to cook soon," Fang Pingying said, and then cleaned up the bowls piled on the small table in the courtyard, taking them to the kitchen to wash.

After sitting outside for a while, Fang Ping’an saw that Fang Pingying hadn’t co out and followed her inside, sitting on a stool by the fire. With a concerned tone, he asked her, "Since you married into the Luo Family, you haven’t been back since; I don’t even know how you are getting on over there?"

Although Fang Ping’an was sowhat nicer to her than Li Yuchun, he was still most fond of Fang Xiu; their father-daughter relationship wasn’t very affectionate either.

Fang Pingying wouldn’t reveal her deepest feelings to him, just smiling and saying, "Dad, it’s alright. I’m doing well in the Luo Family. Zhiyong and the Luo Family treat well. Recently, I’ve been doing so small trading to keep busy. Also, with Zhiyong’s leg being inconvenient, I haven’t been able to co back. We will visit you during the Mid-Autumn Festival."

Speaking of trading, Fang Ping’an’s eyes lit up, and he asked, "You’ve been trading by yourself? Are you selling hawthorn? I heard from village folks recently that you set up a stall in town whenever there’s a market."

"Yes, just those things. Thinking there’s nothing much to do at ho, Honglan and I started doing it for fun. It’s better than sitting idle at ho every day," Fang Pingying explained.

Fang Ping’an nodded, "That’s true. With Zhiyong’s leg still unhealed, it’s good you can earn so money yourself lest your mother-in-law talks idle, she’s a tough one to deal with."

Fang Pingying knew that Fang Xiu often ca back and must have talked quite a bit about ho.

She smiled at Fang Ping’an, "Don’t worry, Dad. Zhiyong is ho, and he mostly sides with . My mother-in-law isn’t too bad either."

"That’s good, as long as you are doing well there. It was tough for you back at our ho, and I always hoped you’d have a better life after marrying into the Luo Family." Fang Ping’an paused slightly, then smiled slightly and said to Fang Pingying,

"Also, Pingying, your sister Fang Xiu is a bit naive, having been spoiled by our family from a young age. If there’s anything not right in her marital ho, you should educate her if necessary, but still help her; after all, she’s your sister and closer to you than her sisters-in-law."

Fang Pingying understood the implication in Fang Ping’an’s words, probably because Fang Xiu had also told him about the Luo Family during her visits. His words seed to be scolding Fang Xiu for being naive, but he was actually reminding her not to differentiate too much between closeness and distance.

Delving deeper, Fang Ping’an probably ant that if there was a real way to make money, let Fang Pingying take Fang Xiu along. Fang Xiu was closer to him than Luo Honglan after all.

Although Fang Ping’an didn’t always treat her well, he wasn’t too harsh either, and had raised her, so she still respected him.

So, she didn’t say much, just pretended not to understand and acknowledged it.

Afterwards, Fang Pingying asked Fang Ping’an, "Dad, haven’t Zhiming and Xiu’er co back? They said this morning that they would co here for lunch today. Didn’t they tell you?"

"No, I all..."

Just as Fang Ping’an was speaking, the sound of a man and woman laughing in the backyard could be heard. Fang Pingying knew that Fang Xiu and the others had returned, so she remained silent and waited in the front yard.

When Luo Zhiming and the others got to the front yard and saw Fang Pingying there, they were a bit surprised.

Luo Zhiming smiled and asked, "Sister-in-law, didn’t you say you weren’t coming this morning?"

In front of Fang Ping’an, Fang Pingying didn’t want to ntion Luo Cuilan’s situation, so she deliberately found an excuse, "I ca to call you, our parents want you to co ho for lunch, there is sothing happening at ho this afternoon, they are waiting for you."

Upon hearing this, Fang Xiu was displeased and muttered to Luo Zhiming, "Why does your mom have to be so difficult? We’ve only been out since this morning, and she specifically asked my sister to call us back to work. Does she dislike seeing us happy, or what? If she loves working she can do it by herself, why must she drag us into it?"

The two had just co back from the mountain, and Luo Zhiming’s patience was naturally good.

He patiently coaxed Fang Xiu, "Alright, alright, since big sister has co to call us, let’s go back. Mom isn’t back yet anyway, we wouldn’t have lunch here either."

"Yes, Xiu’er, since your sister ca to call you, let’s go back and co back so other ti for the al," Fang Ping’an also said.

Fang Xiu was sowhat afraid of Fang Ping’an, and seeing that he said so, though she was reluctant, she still followed them back.

On the way, Fang Xiu asked Fang Pingying, "Sister, what needs to be done at ho this afternoon? Is it plowing the field or planting beans or sothing?"

Returning was also to discuss Cuilan’s matter, so Fang Ping-ing straightforwardly told her, "No, it’s Cuilan getting married. Mom and Dad called you all back to discuss with the Zhang family about setting the wedding date this afternoon."

Luo Zhiming was puzzled upon hearing this, "Older sister getting married now? Wasn’t it supposed to wait until the end of the year?"

Fang Xiu, however, pondered more deeply than Luo Zhiming. Her eyes darting around, she suddenly pulled Fang Pingying aside, blinking as she asked in a low voice, "Big sister, don’t tell older sister is like last ti, pregnant again, that’s why she is rushing to get married?"

Fang Pingying had no choice but to deny it, but actually, Fang Xiu was quick-witted indeed, guessing right on the mark.

Seeing Fang Pingying not speaking, Fang Xiu imdiately confird it was that matter.

She sarcastically curled her lip, "Your older sister really is brainless, getting into these sorts of situations once or twice before marriage. She doesn’t think about how her in-laws will treat her in the future, Zhang family will definitely say that she insisted on marrying into their family, making us all lose face."

"What are you talking about, you co to my house and don’t see my mom treating you poorly." As it was his own older sister, Luo Zhiming did not like Fang Xiu speaking in such an unpleasant manner, and unhappily retorted,

"Besides, my sister and Jianguo were already engaged, now that she’s pregnant, they’ll just get married. There’s no need to speak so harshly." (To be continued.
