Luo Zhiyong glanced at her and said, "If you’re not extorting, Luo Zhiming you’d better get discharged from the hospital fast. Then I’ll go buy tickets for you. You should head back tomorrow, and recover at ho properly."
After a pause, Luo Zhiyong continued, "Anyway, during the months Luo Zhiming is healing, the boss has been paying your salary. Even if you lie at ho for two months, you still get paid. After you’ve healed, then think carefully about whether you want to co back to the provincial city and continue working."
Hearing Luo Zhiyong making it sound so simple, Zhou Yuni discontentedly shouted at Luo Zhiyong, "What kind of brother are you? Is this a ti to talk about money? We’re talking about your younger brother being infertile, such a serious matter, and you as his brother won’t even ask?"
"I asked, but does that an he can have children?" Luo Zhiyong was already annoyed because he had heard at ho that Luo Dashan wanted to swindle the boss’s money, so when he heard Zhou Yuni yelling, he ran out of patience too and shouted back at her,
"The doctor said that this kind of condition could be congenital, a hereditary family trait, or it could be acquired, maybe due to Luo Zhiming fooling around with too many won in the past, leading to this disease."
"Isn’t that nonsense? Hereditary, inherited from whom? Your father and I have four children." Zhou Yuni was shouted down by Luo Zhiyong, and she quieted down, "As for acquired, where is that clear?"
Luo Zhiyong didn’t want to argue with Zhou Yuni anymore, as it was also not clear, so he turned to Luo Zhiming and asked him, "Luo Zhiming, what do you have to say?"
Luo Zhiming glanced at Zhou Yuni, and she nodded at him. Then he sat up straight and said to Luo Zhiyong assertively, "Big brother, help make a phone call to my boss. I have sothing to say to him."
Luo Zhiyong, who clearly saw the looks they exchanged, asked flatly, "What do you want to say?"
After a mont of silence, Luo Zhiming spoke up, "If, as the doctor really said, my condition can be determined, then I wouldn’t ask for another examination. But I feel this condition of my body is related to the injury I received this ti."
"This incident?" Luo Zhiyong was confused at first.
Luo Zhiming simply made it clear, "I was hurt in the lower half of my body this ti, it’s possible that the injury caused this disease."
Luo Zhiyong understood so of it and was so angry that he couldn’t speak for a while.
After huffing and puffing for a while, he pointed at Luo Zhiming, "Luo Zhiming, if you truly lack education, go ask the doctor and clear things up. Don’t go making statents that turn us into a laughingstock."
Luo Zhiming didn’t respond, but Zhou Yuni ca over and pushed his hand away, speaking coldly, "A laughingstock? Your brother has always been in good health ever since he was little, no sickness or pain, and even has a few children already. Suddenly, he ends up with this condition, and how can you be so sure it’s unrelated to the incident at the timber factory?"
"The doctor said that such things should have nothing to do with physical injuries." Luo Zhiyong had made a point of asking the doctor before coming to the ward.
Zhou Yuni snorted coldly, pointing towards the door, "Then call the doctor over. If the doctor can state with hundred percent certainty, even as a witness if we sue at the Police Station later, then I will believe what he says."
"That’s correct." Luo Zhiming imdiately followed Zhou Yuni’s lead and accused Luo Zhiyong, "Big brother, whenever sothing happens, you always favor outsiders rather than your family. I’m your biological brother, and you don’t have any relation to the boss of that timber factory."
After pausing, he muttered under his breath, "If I really receive compensation, you won’t lose anything, and you’ll benefit from it sohow."
Luo Zhiyong pieced everything together, naturally understanding the ultimate goal of Zhou Yuni and her son. He shook his head and chuckled, never having imagined his family’s brains could be so sharp when needed.
He looked at Luo Zhiming with a mocking smile, "I get it now, is this the scam you and Mom ca up with together at the hospital, to extort others?"
"Don’t put it so crudely. If I do have health issues, they are related to the timber factory incident," Luo Zhiming said, sowhat guiltily, to Luo Zhiyong. "Otherwise, why would Fang Xiu be pregnant, and wasn’t that other woman pregnant too?"
"As for Fang Xiu..." Luo Zhiyong, after all, was her brother-in-law and didn’t feel it was right to talk about her. He simply frowned at Luo Zhiming, "Have you two already agreed on this? Planning to use this to extort others, aren’t you?"
After thinking for a mont, Luo Zhiming conceded, "If you insist on seeing it that way, then sure, think of it like that."
Luo Zhiyong gave Luo Zhiming and Zhou Yuni a cold look and shook his head, his tone gaining a hint of distance, "Luo Zhiming, Mom, if you really proceed with this, I’ll have no part in it. Don’t co to for anything in the future. After you leave the hospital, check into the guesthouse; don’t co back to my place. I’ll have Hong Lan send your stuff."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yuni furrowed her brows and demanded, "What are you implying? It’s not often I co to the provincial city, you have a place for us to stay, and yet you want us at a guesthouse?"
"I told you before—if you behaved properly, you’d stay at my place without question. But now that you’ve decided to pull a fast one, go ahead and sche on your own." Luo Zhiyong looked at her and Luo Zhiming with a cold laugh, "Going by what you two are saying, you’re probably planning to swindle a hefty sum. Surely, you wouldn’t fuss over the cost of a guesthouse stay then."
After speaking, Luo Zhiyong was about to turn and leave, but was stopped by Luo Dashan.
Luo Dashan also tried to persuade Zhou Yuni, "Yuni, I think Zhiyong’s words are reasonable. Luo Zhiming’s boss has already agreed to cover all expenses; perhaps we should just let this go and find a solution for Luo Zhiming’s illness after we go back."
Zhou Yuni glared at Luo Dashan and muttered angrily, "What do you know? If there was a way, I wouldn’t have suggested this in the first place."
"Then do as you please," Luo Zhiyong didn’t want to continue with the conversation. Such family mbers were no use reasoning with. "But let remind you—there’s a saying that even a strong dragon cannot suppress a local snake, and you guys aren’t even the strong dragon, so know your limits."
"Moreover, I still want to remind you; the guy is a boss after all, a local of the provincial city with more connections and knowledge than you. He won’t let himself be extorted so easily. If you really make him angry, you’re only asking for trouble."
"I’m leaving." Having said that, Luo Zhiyong stepped towards the exit.
Seeing him about to leave for real, Zhou Yuni raised her voice again, "Zhiyong, you..."
Luo Zhiyong stopped, turning to look at Zhou Yuni with an indifferent expression, "Don’t start with that talk about my lack of filial piety or neglect of family. I’m a soldier, and every cent I make is earned fair and square. I can’t stand to see my family extorting others, spewing lies with eyes wide open."
"Now, I’m advising you not to do this. If you don’t listen, don’t bla for being harsh. If this blows up and creates a scene with others, I’ll sever ties with you. Otherwise, you’ll end up dragging down even in the military."
After finishing his piece, Luo Zhiyong walked away. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welco to vote for it with your recomndation and monthly tickets at Qidian (qidian). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read at m.qidian.)
