Chapter 74: Chapter 74 Sending Letters, Returning to the Village Chapter 74: Chapter 74 Sending Letters, Returning to the Village Luo Qiao said, “Auntie, I am definitely going to continue my studies. I’ve enrolled in school and will be taking the entrance exam with this year’s students, so don’t worry.

Don’t forget I’ve been studying traditional Chinese dicine with Professor Yang, and I’ve collected quite a few herbs on the mountain and sold them for so money. So, you really don’t have to worry about my living expenses; on the contrary, I’m actually living better since leaving the Luo Family.”

As soon as the Luo Family was ntioned, Auntie Yao beca enraged again: “I always wondered why the Luo family treated you the way they did, but now I see that those so-called parents are not even your biological ones. For the sake of their own son, they’ve done such shaless deeds.

If I see them again, I’ll give them a piece of my mind. They are both so shaless! They’re too cruel-hearted, how could they do such things?”

Once Auntie Yao had cald down, Luo Qiao said she needed to leave. Auntie Yao insisted she stay the night and leave the next day, since it was only right to see her when she visited.

But Luo Qiao ntioned she had left her team yesterday, and if she didn’t return soon, it would be hard to explain to the villagers. Auntie Yao originally wanted to give Luo Qiao so food and other necessities, but since Luo Qiao also had bedding to carry back, it was too much to take.

So she packed all the leftover buns from lunch for Luo Qiao instead, saying it would save her from having to cook after getting ho in the evening.

Luo Qiao took only one set of her bedding, but Auntie Yao insisted that she take the two pieces of cloth as well, saying she needed to dress well for school and wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

Thus, Luo Qiao ended up taking the two pieces of fabric with her, leaving about two pounds of red dates for Auntie Yao, and once again bringing tears to her aunt’s eyes. In her heart, she thought, ‘How could such a good child have such a hard life?’

Auntie Yao walked with Luo Qiao all the way out of the family courtyard before Luo Qiao stopped her from going any further, promising to visit when she had ti and to write if anything ca up. She then hurried toward the bus station.

Passing by the post office, she mailed letters to Grandpa Yuan and Professor Yang’s parents, sending along about two pounds of red dates to each household as well.

Her spirits lifted after taking care of the tasks, Luo Qiao walked joyously towards the bus station, thinking to herself that she’d buy a watch when she could afford it because it was too inconvenient to tell ti without one.

The bus had already arrived at the station and was just waiting for its departure ti. Luo Qiao purchased her ticket, placed her luggage on the engine hood in front of the bus, and took a seat in the front, to avoid the crowded back.

Close to departure ti, the driver and the ticket collector boarded. The bus left the station at exactly five o’clock. After a bumpy ride, Luo Qiao finally arrived at the commune junction and took a mont to compose herself before getting off the bus and starting her walk back.

It was really the sll inside the bus that was too overpowering. Luckily it was still light outside, and she encountered a few villagers who had been to the commune for errands along the way.

One of them was Gao Shunyi from the Li Xiulan family. Seeing Luo Qiao returning with a backpack, he couldn’t help but look a few extra tis, thinking to himself how capable Luo Qiao was and wondering what she had brought back this ti.

A village woman asked, “Luo Qiao girl, where have you been?”

Knowing she couldn’t hide the truth, Luo Qiao replied openly, “I went to fetch a quilt.” She didn’t ntion going to the city, only fetching the quilt.

She was thankful to have reached the village entrance so she wouldn’t have to answer any more questions. She quickly greeted them and turned onto the path leading ho.

After a short walk, she saw Lu Yichen shaking dust off his clothes at his house’s front gate. Luo Qiao thought to herself how early he finished work today.

Lu Yichen furrowed his brow and asked, “You didn’t co back yesterday?”

After saying that, he looked at Luo Qiao, waiting for her response.
