The weather was on the verge of turning cold and Stone had grown quite a bit, so she thought about buying him so new clothes and shoes.
Stone walked silently for a while before looking at Luo Qiao, “Sister, are you angry at brother?”
Luo Qiao turned to Stone with a light smile, “Why should I be angry with him?”
Stone suddenly laughed, “So, it ans sister is not angry, just disgusted by those two dirtying the newly furnished house brother worked so hard on.”
Luo Qiao patted Stone, “Smart boy. It’s just a pity how all that hard work cleaning up the house went to waste.”
Stone bead, “I was afraid you were mad at brother.”
Luo Qiao looked at the departnt store across the street, “He didn’t do anything wrong. I’d be foolish to take it out on him. Why should he be punished for soone else’s mistake?”
The siblings entered the departnt store in high spirits, and after a round of shopping, Luo Qiao bought Stone two pairs of shoes. Although she was capable of making them, crafting shoes was truly too much trouble.
She picked out several pieces of fabric suitable for sports clothing, planning to make Stone two sportswear sets herself. Seeing the deep blue fabric, she took extra, and noticing colors that would suit grandma, she also thought of dad and her several brothers. The salesperson saw Luo Qiao’s generosity and couldn’t stop beaming with joy.
She also selected so accessories, and then she took Stone back to the second courtyard.
After arriving, Stone helped Luo Qiao put away the fabrics and rushed to the garden at the back. He wanted to check on the strawberries in the heated shed; last ti, his sister ntioned that the shed was already set up and the seedlings had been transplanted.
Rong Daniang saw a boy running toward the backyard and was about to follow when she heard Luo Qiao say, “Elder Rong, it’s okay, that’s my brother.”
Rong Daniang was sowhat puzzled but didn’t ask out loud, “What would you like for lunch?”
Luo Qiao thought for a mont, “Elder Rong, how about we have hot oil noodles for lunch, with plenty of chili.”
Rong Daniang smiled, “Alright, I’ll go prepare that.”
After sorting out the fabrics, Luo Qiao saw Stone run back in, “Sister, the strawberry plants already have fruit on them.”
“In a few days, there will be so to eat. I’ll bring you so then.”
“Okay, thank you, Sister.”
“Stone, co here. Let take your asurents so I can make your clothes when I have ti in the next few days.”
“Sister, make them a little larger when you do. I’m growing fast, and constantly making new clothes is too wasteful.”
“Wow, our Stone knows so much now.”
“Many of my classmates are the sa; a lot of them haven’t worn new clothes more than a few tis–always just hand--downs from older siblings. Among my classmates, there are so who get new clothes every season, but they are few. It’s enough if you make mine a bit larger, Sister.”
“Don’t worry about that; just focus on your studies. When I have ti, I’ll take you to visit my master, and you can pick out so clothes that are too small for you. We’ll give them to a little brother who is having a tough ti, so it won’t be a waste.”
“Okay, I’ll sort them out when I get ho.”
After taking asurents inside the house, they ca out where Rong Daniang had nearly finished preparing the al. Along with hot oil noodles, she made stewed chicken and a mixed cold vegetable dish.
Elder Rong ca back from the backyard and Luo Qiao called out, “Elder Rong, wash your hands. It’s ti to eat.”
Luo Qiao introduced them, and they all took their seats.
Slling the delicious scent of the chicken soup, Luo Qiao said, “Stone, you should have a bowl of chicken first. This chicken soup was simred slowly over low heat, it slls so good.”
With Stone’s addition, the dining table was livelier than ever.
After lunch, Elder Rong spoke, “Qiaoqiao, in a few days, your elder Rong and I need to head back to our hotown.”
Luo Qiao asked, “Is sothing the matter?”
Rong Daniang spoke with a grave tone, “My elder cousin sister is likely not doing well. Regardless of any past grudges, it’s ti to let them go. We want to be there to see her off on her final journey.”
Luo Qiao nodded in understanding, “When do you plan to go back? I’ll have soone reserve tickets for you.”
Rong Daniang replied, “The day after tomorrow.”
Luo Qiao nodded, “Okay, I’ll make a call and have the tickets reserved soon. But I’m a bit worried about you two going back alone.”
