Qian Xiue sighed, “Caihong, you should just give up that idea, he’s engaged. How could he possibly break off his engagent with a college graduate to marry you? Your second uncle will find soone else for you.”
Qian Caihong stared at Lu Yichen, who had entered the gate, thinking that even if she looked again, there would be no one better than Lu Yichen—so young and successful, and so handso too.
In her heart, she pondered over how to get Lu Yichen to marry her. Ever since she ca to her aunt’s house, she had taken a liking to Deputy Director Lu, but he always treated her with a cold face, which only made her like him more, unable to stop herself.
She thought of all sorts of thods, but eventually dismissed each one.
Back in the courtyard, she saw her second uncle had already gotten up and washed, she quickly set the breakfast table, “Second Uncle, breakfast is ready.”
She also called her cousins out of their rooms to eat, playing her part without a single slip.
Lu Yichen entered the room and saw Luo Qiao sleeping soundly, not having the heart to wake her. But she was exhausted from the night before, and couldn’t bear it if she got hungry.
So he said softly, “Qiaoqiao, darling, get up and have so breakfast before you go back to sleep.”
Luo Qiao was alert, but hearing Lu Yichen calling her “darling” gave her goosebumps all over.
Extending her arm, she wrapped it around Lu Yichen’s neck, murmuring groggily, “Where did you learn that from?”
Lu Yichen hugged her back, “I’ve been wanting to call you that.”
Luo Qiao laughed with her eyes still closed, “So cheesy.”
Seeing her laugh, Lu Yichen didn’t care what she said and cooed again, “Darling, get up; have your breakfast first and then go back to sleep.”
Luo Qiao sat up as Lu Yichen held her, and then she was cradled in his arms, “Are you awake yet, hmm?”
Luo Qiao leaned against him, “Let’s pick up Stone later, and have him join us tonight. National Day holiday is only three days long, and you are not allowed to send him back to the army again.”
Lu Yichen rubbed his chin against the top of Luo Qiao’s head, “Of course, I have no plans to send him away. That was a longer break during the last sumr vacation; I just wanted to toughen him up a bit.”
Luo Qiao said, “You still have the nerve to ntion that. You didn’t let him co back early on the last day of sumr vacation. He only got back when it was dark, and we had to part as soon as we t.”
Lu Yichen touched his nose, “You saw that day too. All those kids were sent back at that ti.”
Luo Qiao looked up at him, “Can’t I even talk about it?”
Lu Yichen kissed Luo Qiao’s forehead, “You can say whatever you want. After all, it was my fault for not discussing with you before sending Stone for training. Go ahead and eat, then sleep a bit more. I’ll go pick up Stone.”
Luo Qiao hugged Lu Yichen’s neck, “You realize your mistake?”
Lu Yichen said affectionately, “I realize it. From now on, I’ll consult you on everything.”
Luo Qiao pinched Lu Yichen’s ear, “Smooth talker.”
Lu Yichen hugged her tightly, “I only sweet-talk you.”
After their affectionate mont, they finally ca out to eat. But just after they started, soone outside called, “Is Brother Lu there?”
Lu Yichen frowned when he heard the voice, got up, and went out into the yard, and saw the person standing at the gate, “What is it?”
Qian Caihong looked demurely at Lu Yichen, “Big Brother Lu, my brother sent so seafood from the south, I’ve brought so over for you to try.”
Lu Yichen’s face darkened instantly, “Who allowed you to call Big Brother Lu? And in what capacity are you bringing things over?”
Qian Caihong felt a little hurt, “I didn’t an anything by it, I just thought the food was rare and wanted to share so with you.”
Luo Qiao, watching from inside, thought the girl’s maneuver was too cliché for words.
Lu Yichen said, “If anyone is to give, it should be your aunt and uncle. Besides, normally unless it’s my fiancée who cos over, I don’t even cook at all; everyone in this compound knows that. Please leave.”
Qian Caihong hadn’t expected her clever plan to backfire, and she was afraid she had made Deputy Director Lu dislike her even more now. If Luo Qiao knew what she was thinking, she would definitely say, “What kind of logic is that?”
Once the person had left, Lu Yichen slamd the door shut with a ‘bang’.
