Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Encounter With an Intellectual Disability Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Encounter With an Intellectual Disability Luo Qiao grabbed a towel, turned around, and left the ward. She washed her face at the water room, tied her hair into a ponytail, and made herself presentable before returning to the ward. She asked Qiao Yu if he needed soone to assist him to the bathroom.

Seeing him shake his head, her heart galloped wildly, but she maintained a composed expression as she picked up the bamboo container from yesterday that she had used to serve porridge and left the ward.

She first went to a public phone not far from the hospital to call Qiao Yu’s cousin, Song Wenbin, and inford him of Qiao Yu’s condition.

Only then did she find a place to have a simple breakfast, filling the bamboo container with a portion of porridge, a boiled egg, and four buns before heading back to the hospital. Now, the little food coupons she had were used up completely.

The porridge she gave Qiao Yu last night was taken from her space, and it was boiled with the water from her space’s well. She couldn’t let him eat too much of that to avoid any trouble for herself in the future.

Back in the ward, she asked a male companion from the next bed to help lift the patient. After expressing her thanks, she turned to Qiao Yu and asked, “Can you eat by yourself, or shall I feed you?”

Don’t get the wrong idea, because Comrade Qiao Yu’s right arm was also injured. Lifting it up and down might cause the wound to split open.

Luo Qiao couldn’t help but be amazed at herself for saving people with such dedication: “Forget it, forget it, I’ll feed you to save you from further injury.”

Qiao Yu rembered how, before he fainted yesterday, this young girl had anxiously pleaded with him not to fall asleep, probably scared out of her wits the day before.

She placed a bun in Qiao Yu’s left hand and said, “Eat the bun yourself; I’ll feed you the porridge.”

Qiao Yu replied, “Then thank you.”

Once a bamboo container of porridge was finished and the buns were eaten, Luo Qiao returned to the ward after washing the container in the water room. She then saw a young man standing in front of Qiao Yu’s bed.

When Qiao Yu saw Luo Qiao approaching, he recounted to the young man how Luo Qiao had saved him. Yet to her surprise, Song Wenbin looked at Luo Qiao with disdain and remarked, “Isn’t this just another one trying to climb the social ladder?”

His voice wasn’t very loud, but Luo Qiao and the mother and son in the next bed heard him clearly.

Luo Qiao laughed with a hint of mockery and said as if looking at soone ignorant, “Comrade Qiao, since your relative is here, it’s ti for to leave. But before I do, shouldn’t you reimburse for the dical expenses I covered for you?”

As she spoke, she took out the receipt for the money paid the day before and handed it over.

Then she added, “As for the als last night and this morning, let’s forget about it. After all, you are a hero who sacrificed himself for others. Consider it my treat.”

She then placed the bamboo container and spoon on the table and continued, “You can keep these, as there are no cups to drink from here. Rest assured, these were unused before, so you can throw them away once you get a cup.”

Having already used these items for Qiao Yu, Luo Qiao had no intentions of taking them back. If Qiao Yu didn’t want them, she would dispose of them herself.

Before Qiao Yu could respond, Song Wenbin interjected, “You should take your things with you. It seems like you’re trying to leave sothing behind to rember you by.”

Upon hearing his cousin speak out of line, Qiao Yu grew angry and admonished, “Shut up! What kind of attitude is that?”

Song Wenbin was about to retort when the police officers who had handled the case the day before entered. The female officer said, “Xiao Luo, we really owe you our thanks for taking the ti to help.”

Luo Qiao replied, “It’s no trouble at all. This gentleman woke up in the middle of the night, and I was just about to go find you.”

The police officers once again recounted the previous day’s events to Qiao Yu, who then pulled out an identification card and flashed it briefly.
