The hospital got busier next as many people were transferred from other departnts to the Respiratory and Infectious Diseases departnts.
Due to the shortage of staff in other departnts, they stopped the three-shift rotations and moved to two shifts, with everyone working a full twelve hours each day, busy from dawn to dusk.
Not long after, doctors from various departnts were required to transfer to the isolation area. Luo Qiao was the first to volunteer and was notified to enter the isolation area the following day. Entering the isolation area ant accepting uniform arrangents and being unable to see family mbers temporarily.
The hospital notified those who were going to enter the isolation area the next day that they could leave work early today. Luo Qiao went ho early and, with Rong Daniang’s help, cooked a table of dishes for her family.
At the dinner table, she announced that she would be entering the isolation area the next day and wouldn’t be able to co ho for a while. However, she reassured everyone that she would be cautious and urged them to wait at ho without worry.
The children were sowhat anxious, afraid that sothing might happen to her. Luo Qiao made repeated assurances until the children’s nerves finally settled.
Luo Qiao also had a private talk with her daughter, who was taking the college entrance exam this year, hoping they wouldn’t be affected and encouraging them to do well in their respective roles.
That evening, Lu Yichen held Luo Qiao and fussed over her with instructions, as if they were parting forever.
Luo Qiao gave several reassurances to ease his mind and later used her charms to help him sleep peacefully. They had a night of intimacy, exhausting themselves before falling asleep in each other’s arms.
The next day, Luo Qiao took her change of clothes, said goodbye to her family, and Lu Yichen personally drove her to the hospital.
As Luo Qiao was about to get off the car, Lu Yichen held her hand: "Take good care of yourself, co ho safe and sound. The kids and I will be waiting for you at ho."
Both had tears in their eyes. Luo Qiao said, "I’ll call you every day after work to let you know I’m safe. You need to stay safe too."
Watching Luo Qiao’s figure disappear into the clinic doors, Lu Yichen stayed there for a long while before driving away.
In the days that followed, Luo Qiao would call Lu Yichen and her family to assure them she was safe each day after leaving the hospital and returning to the assigned hotel before handling her own matters.
During this ti, Lu Yichen brought als a few tis, but they could only exchange a few words from a distance.
The Luo Family wanted to visit, but Luo Qiao firmly refused. She understood their concern, yet emphasized the special circumstances and couldn’t let them risk it, not even a thousandth of it.
Despite this, Gu Qianru and Luo Haotian ca twice, only stopping when Luo Qiao warned she would get upset if they ca again.
In this way, with the family on edge every day, a month passed. The second team ca to take over, and they were quarantined in the hotel for fourteen days before returning ho.
After coming ho, Luo Qiao self-isolated for a week before interacting with the children.
By then, the epidemic had effectively been controlled due to the preventative asures enforced with the resources she had sent ahead.
Today was the first ti Luo Qiao joined the children for a al since her return, and each child gave her a big hug. Xiao Ye held her tight: "Mom, thank you for your hard work."
Although it was just a few words, it deeply moved Luo Qiao.
The next day, Luo Qiao returned to her original departnt, quickly becoming busy again as nurous previously stalled high-difficulty surgeries awaited her.
She was busy for a week until things cald down, and the departnt returned to normal.
With ti passing and the weather getting warr, by the end of May, the epidemic was nearly at zero new cases, allowing everyone to finally relax.
The college entrance examination schedule was moved forward by a month this year to the 7th, 8th, and 9th of June. Although Luo Qiao wanted to take leave to accompany them, her daughters refused.
Nonetheless, she and her husband insisted on escorting them to the examination hall every morning and afternoon.
Three days later, the exams concluded. Yanyan and Yueyue rested at ho for two days, showing that even top students get tired.
Soon after the exams, Lu Xinyi also retired from his position. The army arranged for retired cadres to go to Beidaihe for a retreat. The granddaughters, worried about their grandfather’s feelings, offered to accompany him.
