Lu Yi watched Luo Qiao open her umbrella and walk toward her car, watching as her car disappeared into the rain, yet he hadn’t withdrawn his gaze.
Several people eavesdropping from the doorway walked out. One of them even reached out to shield his forehead with his hand, standing on one leg like the Monkey King, peering left and right outside the door, and the group was struggling to hold in their laughter.
Just as he was in the midst of his exaggerated performance, Lu Yichen happened to turn around, causing the person to almost lose his balance and fall over, after which the group dispersed in laughter.
Lu Yichen carried his things upstairs to the second floor, just finished changing his clothes, and as he looked at the contents in his backpack, he heard soone heading toward his office.
Quickly and smoothly, he placed the backpack in the cabinet below, just as a knock ca on the door: “Co in.”
Suddenly, a group of people walked in from the doorway, and Qiu Guangming laughed, “We heard your wife brought you breakfast?”
Lu Yichen didn’t look up, “Yes, and I was just about to eat. Why aren’t you guys eating in the canteen and coming over here for what?”
Qiu Guangming laughed, “Brothers, what are we waiting for? Let’s help ourselves and enjoy!”
As he spoke, they opened the bag containing the main dishes. Each person took two buns in hand, still considerate enough to leave three for their dear Director Lu.
They knew that when the wife delivered food, she always packed extra. After grabbing the goods, they quickly retreated and didn’t forget to shout, “Thank your wife for us.”
Lu Yichen said with mock irritation, “You take buns from , yet thank your sister-in-law. What kind of people are you?”
One of them, who had just run out, heard the director’s comnt and ran back, “Because the buns were made by your wife.”
He said this and then quickly took off.
Lu Yichen shook his head with an amused smile, finally sitting down to enjoy his lovingly prepared breakfast.

On the other side, when Luo Qiao arrived at the hospital, she was assigned to standby at the ergency departnt. There was simply no way to arrange the staffing. Many dical staff from various departnts had been urgently deployed to go on-site with the vehicles.
Luo Qiao returned to the office, changed clothes, and hadn’t been downstairs long before ambulances began ferrying in patients, mostly due to old houses flooding and collapsing.
The entire morning was non-stop, with not even a mont to drink water.
Later, she heard soone exclaim, “Thank goodness, the rain finally stopped. If it had continued, who knows how severe it could have gotten.”
This rain exposed problems within the city, especially the need for accelerating the renovation of old districts to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
The city’s planning departnts cannot simply create superficial works but need to look long-term. As the city develops faster, the accompanying municipal projects must also keep pace, and flood prevention must be taken seriously.
Because of this rain, Luo Qiao didn’t return to the residential compound until three days later, while Lu Yichen was so busy he had been staying at the office continuously for days.
When Luo Qiao entered the house, she first set the chicken to stew. After tidying up the yard, she turned down the heat and went inside to shower and change clothes.
Once she was ready, she stead the rice and made tomato stew with beef brisket, fried smoked pork with bamboo shoots, and braised eggplant.
As the al was almost ready, she called Lu Yichen, “Hello, Brother Chen, are you done with work?”
“Are you back?”
“Yeah, I cooked at ho. I don’t know if you have ti to co back. If not, I’ll pack it and bring it over.”
“No need, no need, I’ll be done soon, and I’ll co ho to eat.”
The few people discussing matters in the office with him showed expressions of envy mixed with disdain, thinking, Director Lu, can’t you restrain the sparkle in your eyes a bit? It’s really hard to watch.
