When I got ho in the evening, I saw my cousin Ning Lingchuan was there.
Luo Qiao put down her things, "Big cousin, how do you have the ti to visit?"
Ning Lingchuan looked at the children playing happily in the yard with a smile, "I was handling so business nearby, thought I’d stop by to see you."
Luo Qiao washed her hands by the side, then said, "Why don’t you stay for dinner tonight? Rong Daniang’s cooking is quite delicious."
After sitting down, she casually poured Ning Lingchuan a cup of cold tea, "Have so tea."
Ning Lingchuan nodded, "Sure, I’ll stay for dinner then. I actually have sothing to discuss with you too."
Luo Qiao thought to herself, "That’s more like it. There’s a saying, ’nothing happens without a reason.’ My cousin rarely calls, let alone stops by. There’s no way he just passed by."
Ning Lingchuan said, "I was handling business at a brother’s place today, my mom knew and asked to pass a ssage to you."
Luo Qiao frowned slightly, "Is that woman up to sothing again?"
Ning Lingchuan felt a bit uncomfortable hearing Luo Qiao’s words. After all, she was still his aunt, "Qiaoqiao, she’s still your mom, isn’t she?"
Luo Qiao picked up the teapot from the stone table and poured herself a cup of cold tea, "She never treated like her daughter, did she?"
Ning Lingchuan opened his mouth, wanting to say more.
Luo Qiao interrupted him, "If you’re here to lecture on her behalf, you can skip dinner and leave. After all, it was Zhao Jianing who grew up with you guys."
With those words, Ning Lingchuan realized he had said too much and regretted it, "Qiaoqiao, that’s not what I ant."
Luo Qiao didn’t respond, and the two fell into a stalemate.
Luo Qiao reflected that since she reconnected with the family, these cousins had been kind to her, but that didn’t give them the right to lecture her. After all, they hadn’t experienced the hardships she did and wouldn’t understand.
To her, Ning Xueling was no different than a stranger, and she had no desire for any interaction regardless of what others said.
After a long pause, Ning Lingchuan finally spoke, "I didn’t co because of aunt’s matter today."
Luo Qiao gave him a glance, "If it’s not about her, what else could bring you here in person?"
Ning Lingchuan sighed, "Stone’s biological father found your family and wants my dad and second uncle to talk to you regarding sothing about Stone."
Upon hearing this, Luo Qiao asked displeased, "What is Ning Ziping’s relation to you all?"
Ning Lingchuan picked up his tea cup, "He’s no longer within five generations. We barely interacted before, but he visited the family recently."
Luo Qiao sneered, "Looks like he went through a lot of trouble."
Ning Lingchuan said, "You know my dad’s character, and my mom asked to give you a heads-up."
Luo Qiao nodded slightly, "As for Stone, no one’s words matter unless Stone agrees himself."
Ning Lingchuan looked at Luo Qiao, thinking he might need to persuade his dad because ddling might make their relationship even more distant.
Outside the gate ca the sound of a car pulling up, and the kids who were playing in the yard ran over, "Dad, you’re back! What are you carrying?"
As soon as Lu Yichen entered the gate, he saw Ning Lingchuan sitting by the stone table, "Cousin’s here?"
Ning Lingchuan stood up, "I was handling so business nearby and thought I’d stop by."
Lu Yichen raised the fish in his hand, "You’re in luck. A comrade of mine brought over so sea fish. Why don’t you join us for dinner?"
Lu Yichen handed the fish to Rong Daniang, who ca out of the kitchen, "Daniang, these are sea fish. See what you can make with them. I’ll change and take care of them later."
After Lu Yichen changed his clothes, he ca out, "Big cousin, is there sothing you need to discuss today?"
Ning Lingchuan did not hide it and recounted the situation.
Lu Yichen handled the fish as he spoke, "Try to persuade uncle that it’s best he doesn’t get involved in these matters. As for Stone, neither I nor Qiaoqiao will interfere. This is Stone’s matter alone.
Moreover, he wasn’t there to raise him, and now that Stone has grown up, he doesn’t need them anymore."
