Luo Qiao felt reluctant to agree; after all, she had a secret. It wasn’t practical to always be sneaking around, wanting to eat sothing better. One or two als might be fine, but it would be too troubleso over a long period.
Lu Yichen said, “I only know how to fry up so sauce, make a basic stew, oh, and I can also cook porridge. Other than that, I can’t really cook. After having your cooking, I just can’t stand my own anymore.”

Luo Qiao opened the door to see Li Xiulan standing outside with a basket, accompanied by four or five other won.
Luo Qiao said, “Auntie, you all got up quite early.”
Li Xiulan replied, “Let’s talk inside.”
Out of politeness, Luo Qiao said, “Please co in. I don’t have much to offer everyone, but how about I wash so cucumbers for you ladies to eat?”
There were just-picked cucumbers in a basket in the courtyard. She washed three of them, broke each in half, and handed them out to the aunties who ca over.
Li Xiulan, eating a cucumber, said, “Luo Qiao, it’s not easy for a young girl like you to live alone in the village. You saved my husband’s life, and if you ever need anything, just call on us. We’ll definitely help you.”
Luo Qiao smiled lightly and replied, “Auntie, don’t say that. I was just lucky and happened to know a little bit. Mainly, it was Uncle Shunyi’s good fortune.”
Li Xiulan, nibbling on the cucumber, pointed at the basket on the ground, “Luo Qiao, this is a little sothing from my heart. You really have to accept it.”
