Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: Confess in Advance
Lu Yichen was indeed clever. Fearing that his wife might hear rumors from elsewhere in the future, he confessed honestly during their night-ti phone call, explaining both what had happened and how he dealt with it. He even took the opportunity to brag a little and fish for a reward.
Luo Qiao gave him verbal praise as an encouragent, telling him he did a great job, and to stay on high alert. She also rewarded him with a casual outfit she had made by hand, ntioning with a laugh that it was already on its way.
It was clear that this reward was arranged on the fly, which made Lu Yichen even happier. It showed that his wife was always thinking about him and had even sent him clothes in advance.
In fact, he also had a gift for his wife, but since he wasn’t sure if it would co to fruition, he had kept it a secret.
What Lu Yichen didn’t expect was the huge surprise waiting for him.
The couple wanted to be affectionate over the phone for a while longer, but alas, their little love rival did not give them a chance, forcing them to quickly end the call.
“Second sister-in-law, are you ready? We are about to leave.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming. I was just thinking since we’re going to visit two famous universities and take photos, I need to dress up and look pretty.”
Luo Qiao joked, “To put it bluntly, you just want to take beautiful pictures of yourself to show off when you go back, right?”
Xiao Ya ran over, wrapped her arms around Luo Qiao’s neck affectionately, “You understand best, Qiaoqiao.”
Luo Qiao quickly pushed her away, “Ew, I’m getting goosebumps. Are you trying to scare soone to death?”
Xiao Ya chuckled and ran ahead: “I can’t scare you to death, otherwise your second brother would definitely turn against , and I don’t want that.”
With that, she ran out of the front door.
Luo Qiao chased after her, and the two ran ahead together. Luo Xuyuan shook his head and laughed from behind, “These are mothers, yet they’re acting like children.”
He then turned to the people in the courtyard and said, “Let’s go. The earlier we leave, the sooner we return.”
They had wanted to take Yanyan and the others with them, but the weather was windy today and Aunt Gu Qianru did not agree, so they went lightly equipped.
The grandparents and auntie were also joining them today. They had been here for quite so ti without a chance to visit the universities. It was a perfect day for a group outing.
Their destination was Harvard’s main campus, which was so distance from the city center. They went out and directly hailed two cars.
When they walked onto Harvard’s campus, the excitent and amazent they had imagined were nowhere to be found; instead, the tranquility of the campus cald them down.
Luo Qiao quietly began to explain the history of Harvard University, “Harvard University was founded in 1636, back when China was in the late Ming Dynasty, just before the Qing Dynasty started…”
By the ti they left Harvard, it was nearly noon. If it weren’t for the three little ones, they would have found a place nearby for lunch and continued their tour to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the afternoon.
Luo’s elderly couple urged everyone to go ho, saying the children were the priority. Moreover, being out for such a long ti could lead to engorgent, which wouldn’t be good for Luo Qiao’s health. They could visit the schools any ti, so they all took a car back ho.
The three little ones seed to have a sixth sense; they had been happily drinking their formula, but as soon as Luo Qiao returned, they refused it and began to collectively protest, crying and fussing.
Luo Qiao quickly took off her coat and went to wash her hands. When she ca out, Elder Rong directly handed her a bowl of ginger sugar water.
After she ward up from drinking it, she went upstairs. The little ones were quite amusing—they cried for a bit, then stopped and seed to listen for footsteps coming upstairs.
Half a day passed without Luo Qiao coming upstairs, and now there was trouble, a collective crying began. Now the real upset had started, each of them crying with such injustice.
Luo Qiao quickly spoke up, “Mommy’s back, isn’t she? It’s cold outside, so Mommy needs to warm up before holding you, or else she might freeze you, right?”
She took her youngest son, which had beco routine. When the youngest stopped crying, the two older brothers stopped as well.
Rong Daniang chuckled from the side, “These three little ones are quite cunning. Before you ca back, they drank their formula just fine. As soon as they heard so noise downstairs, they started to protest collectively. And when you didn’t co up for a while, they really started crying.”
Luo Qiao kissed her youngest son who had finished eating and then took the second son, “Look at this one, crying so earnestly, still tears in his eye sockets. Mommy’s sorry for making my little Ye Zi sad.”
Xiao Hongye puckered his lips in cooperation, and his mischievous mother couldn’t help but laugh at his expression.
Gu Qianru ca up, saying with concern, “We could have gone over ourselves in the afternoon. You should stay at ho. You’ll be back in the lab in a few days; spend more ti with the children.”
Luo Qiao knew her aunt adored the little ones, “Auntie, don’t worry. Before the New Year, I’ve arranged with my professor to co back once in the morning and once in the afternoon to feed them.”
Hearing what Luo Qiao said, Gu Qianru finally felt relieved, “Thank goodness the school isn’t far from ho, and you’re lucky to have such a kind advisor. Oh, I heard from Old Lady Qiao that soone is coming over from China the day after tomorrow. I’ll call and ask them to bring a few Peking ducks. You can give them to your advisor and your fellow lab mates as a token of thanks.”
Luo Qiao reached out, intending to stop her, but Gu Qianru had already turned and left the door swiftly. Luo Qiao had no choice but to retract her hand and let it be.
After handing Xiao Ye to Elder Rong to be taken away, she finally picked up her eldest son, “Xiao Rui, are you hungry? Mommy’s little treasure, you truly deserve to be the big brother, always considerate of your two younger brothers, right? But we don’t have to keep yielding to them; in Mommy’s heart, you are all my treasures.”
Elder Rong smiled, “Our Xiao Rui will grow up to be soone responsible, won’t he?”
Luo Qiao kissed Xiao Rui’s forehead, “It’s good to be a responsible big brother, but we can’t let the two younger brothers take it for granted to always be indulged.”
Xiao Ya walked in with a smile, “He’s still so young, you think he understands what you’re telling him?”
Luo Qiao gently put down her satisfied eldest son, “Our Xiao Rui is very clever.”
Now that the three little ones had eaten, they didn’t fuss anymore and were content playing on their own.
Elder Rong said with a smile, “Let’s go, take them downstairs, lunch is ready.”
Gu Qianru felt a bit embarrassed, “You’ve really gone through a lot of troubles.”
Elder Rong’s smile returned, “The little ones are well-behaved, and with He Qing helping, it’s not too much trouble.”
Today, Elder Rong had cooked a pot of beef, a pot of ribs, stir-fried shredded potatoes, scrambled eggs with green onions, made a mixed vegetable dish, stead rice, and at the end served a soup with winter lon and fish balls.
After lunch, and a short rest, they asked He Qing to take them to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, insisting that Luo Qiao should not co with them this ti and should stay ho to watch the children.
********
In the Zhai Family of Capital City, Zhai Yuyuan hadn’t co out since she entered the house, and the als brought in remained untouched, which greatly worried Jiao Haifang, her mother.
After hearing this, Elder Master Zhai said, “If she won’t eat, let her be hungry.”
He closed his eyes and waved for soone to leave.
In the courtyard, Second Wife’s Daughter-in-law Li Yuduan approached Jiao Haifang, “Sister-in-law, what’s going on with Yu Yuan?”
Jiao Haifang was upset inside, but she still managed to feign composure on the outside, “Nothing’s wrong; she just doesn’t feel well and has no appetite.”
