Lu Yichen got into his car and imdiately made a call to the Zhai family. He did not want that person to keep showing up in front of him, lest his wife find out; then, even diving into the Yellow River wouldn’t clear his na.
Thinking of his wife, he knew all too well how quick-tempered the little woman was. If idle gossip were to spread, she truly might take their children and stay far away from him. He dared not risk it. Nor did he wish to trouble himself over soone irrelevant.
The call was answered, “Hello, whom are you looking for?”
“Hello, I’d like to speak to Old Zhai, please.”
“One mont.”
Hearing footsteps as the person walked away from the phone, a good while later soone else ca to pick up the call. “Who’s speaking?”
“Hello, this is Lu Yichen, Gu Baiqing’s grandson.”
“Oh, Lu boy, what’s the matter for you to call this old man?”
“Old Zhai, here’s the thing, could you ask your granddaughter to stop looking for ? I’m married and I love my wife very much. I also don’t want any idle gossip going around. No matter what I tell your granddaughter, she pretends not to understand. So I had to bring this to you and I’m really sorry.”
On the other end of the phone, Old Master Zhai’s face had darkened so much it seed like ink could drip from it. “Lu boy, I’m really sorry about this. I will handle it. And thank you for giving a call. Otherwise, we’d still be in the dark.”
“It’s good that you’re not blaming . I truly don’t want any rumors hurting our marital relationship and causing my wife distress. Thank you for your understanding.”
After hanging up the phone, Old Master Zhai took several deep breaths to calm the anger in his heart. He then phoned the Zhai Yuyuan household and urgently summoned them back.
When Zhai Yuyuan’s parents and two elder brothers arrived ho, they were greeted by the sight of a stern-faced Old Master Zhai.
Zhai Yuyuan’s father, Zhai Hongtao, carefully asked, “Dad, what’s the matter? Why did you rush us ho like this?”
Old Master Zhai slamd his teacup down onto the table. “Do you know what Yuyuan has been up to recently?”
Jiao Haifang, Zhai Yuyuan’s mother, felt a surge of panic. Could it be her daughter had stirred up so trouble outside? She cautiously asked, “Dad, has Yuyuan gotten into so kind of trouble?”
Old Master Zhai looked around at everyone in the room. “This good daughter and sister of yours is shalessly interfering in soone else’s marriage. I refuse to believe none of you had any idea.”
The family exchanged incredulous looks, not daring to believe it.
Zhai Yufeng frowned and spoke up. “Grandfather, if we had known, how could we possibly let her do such a thing?”
Zhai Hongtao’s face also turned sour. “Dad, how did you co to know about this? Could there be a mistake? Yuyuan, how could she do such a thing?”
Only Jiao Haifang, with a frown, said, “A while back, a colleague from my workplace wanted to set Yuyuan up with soone. When I ntioned it to her, she told she already had soone she liked. I asked who it was, but she refused to say. It wasn’t definite yet; they had just started getting to know each other. I thought it was just young people being fond of each other, getting to know each other as friends, so I didn’t think much of it.”
Old Master Zhai angrily said, “Yufeng, go and bring her back here. A girl should know sha!”
Everyone present could tell this was likely the truth. Otherwise, Old Master Zhai, who doted on Yuyuan so much, would never get this angry, nor would he scold her for being shaless.
Yufeng knew his sister had bought tickets for a concert and was probably at the venue at the mont. “Grandfather, she might still be at the concert right now, and I can’t get in.”
At this point, Zhai Yuyuan’s second brother, Zhai Yuquan, who had been silent, asked, “Grandfather, who exactly is the person you ntioned?”
Old Master Zhai revealed, “It’s the Gu family’s grandson, Lu Yichen.”
Now, Zhai Yufeng’s face took on an ugly expression. Just a few days ago, he had run into Lu Yichen, who had said so ambiguous things. He hadn’t taken them seriously at the ti, but it turned out those words were ant for him; he was just too foolish to understand.

Master Gu was furious upon hearing this. If his old friends found out about this, how could he face anyone in the future?
He finally understood. They probably couldn’t get through to the girl no matter what they said, so they spoke to Yufeng in hopes of giving him a hint, but Yufeng, to everyone’s exasperation, failed to grasp the aning.
Perhaps today they had reached their limit, prompting this call.
