Chapter 734: Chapter 733 I Want to Transfer Back!
Ever since the day Lin Xia and Yang Wanng bathed together with Hao Xiaoyun, and Yang Wanng candidly analyzed herself, the relationship between Lin Xia and Yang Wanng had eased considerably.
Sotis, Yang Wanng would take her child to visit Hao Xiaoyun, and if Lin Xia was around, she would also play with the child.
Lin Xia understood that her vibes didn’t jibe with Yang Wanng’s, and with so many complications in between, they couldn’t beco close friends, but they could at least be passable neighbors.
After Children’s Day, Lu Zheng and others had to go on a business trip out of town, which ant they wouldn’t be back for a while, so he simply decided to send Lin Xia back to the provincial city beforehand.
That way, he could be a bit more at ease while he was away.
Shao irou and Shao Chengzhi were overjoyed at the couple’s return.
After a sumptuous breakfast, Shao irou took Lin Xia to see the things she had prepared for her, while Shao Chengzhi and Lu Zheng went to the study to talk.
Shao Chengzhi, aware of his grandson’s concern for his wife, said with a chuckle, “Xiaozheng, you go about your work without worries. With your mother and here, we’ll definitely take good care of Lin Xia!”
“Grandpa! I know you’ll take good care of her! I’ll try to find ti to co back and visit as soon as I can!” Lu Zheng hadn’t even left yet, but he was already feeling a profound sense of reluctance.
Yet, he couldn’t let his romantic longings interfere with the unit’s affairs.
“Alright! Oh, and Xiaozheng, I wanted to ask you, after Lin Xia gives birth, have you considered transferring back to the province?”
Shao Chengzhi had wanted to ask his grandson’s intentions earlier, but so things weren’t convenient to discuss over the phone.
Now being face to face was the perfect opportunity to have a chat.
Naturally, his heart hoped that his grandson would transfer back, so their family of four would be closer to him, and he could see them more often.
Otherwise, the chances to et them throughout the year were limited.
He feared that one of these etings might be their last farewell.
Lu Zheng hesitated for a mont; he had been working at his current unit for a long ti and was very familiar with the people and affairs there.
It’s just like that with people; when you stay sowhere for a long ti, you develop an attachnt.
But he also had to consider Lin Xia and the child more.
He understood very well that Lin Xia was not one to sit still, not one who wanted to be a housewife revolving only around her husband and children. Deep inside, she always yearned to build her own career.
If it wasn’t for the child, Lin Xia would definitely not give up on doing business.
Moreover, they would have two children in the future; Lin Xia managing on her own would certainly be difficult.
It wasn’t like the provincial city, where it was hard to find reliable people to help take care of children. If she had to do it herself, Lin Xia would be unable to accomplish anything.
Lu Zheng made his decision, “Grandpa! I’ve decided! I want to transfer back!”
Ever since he entered the workforce, his career had advanced step by step on his own rit; this was the first ti he intended to use his family connections.
Shao Chengzhi smiled in relief, knowing his grandson would make such a choice, “Good! Just focus on your work then; I’ll handle the rest!”
Simply transferring his grandson back wouldn’t be too much to ask of anyone; they would certainly give him that bit of face.
Shao irou happily showed Lin Xia all the things she had prepared for the child: clothing, necessities, and toys.
Lin Xia felt deeply moved, and no wonder Yang Wanng envied her so much.
She felt comparing Yang Wanng’s mother-in-law with her own was like comparing heaven and earth.
Lin Dong learned of Lin Xia’s return ho and ca to Shao Chengzhi’s house that very afternoon.
When Lin Dong arrived, he was not alone; the people protecting him accompanied him.
The siblings were overjoyed to see each other, feeling as though they had endless things to say.
Lin Xia thought her brother looked healthier and seed to have put on so muscle.
Lin Dong noticed that his elder sister had beco rounder due to her pregnancy, giving her a glow of radiant health.
Lu Zheng stayed with them for only a short while before tactfully leaving to give the siblings so space to talk.
Lin Xia also asked what she had been concerned about, “Dongzi! Has that ng Xiangnan troubled you at school?”
She knew her brother was clever and had his own ideas, but at heart, he was still innocent and kind.
The family of ng Xiangnan had been dealt with by them, and he was sure to harbor resentnt.
She was genuinely worried that Dongzi might inadvertently fall prey to ng Xiangnan’s sches.
After all, in the university campus, even if there were people to protect Lin Dong, it was impossible for them to be with him at every mont.
Lin Dong chuckled, “Elder sister! Don’t worry! Didn’t I tell you over the phone? Since the start of the term, he’s changed a lot and keeps his distance from ! Since I live off-campus and not in the dormitory, there’s even less chance of us crossing paths.”
Lin Dong had shared similar concerns and apprehensions as his elder sister at the beginning of the term, but as the sester was nearing its end without any word or action from ng Xiangnan, he gradually let his guard down.
Seeing that Lin Dong didn’t seem to be lying, Lin Xia finally felt completely relieved but still couldn’t help cautioning him, “Dongzi! Even if it seems like he’s not doing anything right now, you can’t let your guard down. You never know what soone is really thinking.”
Lin Dong took Lin Xia’s words to heart and solemnly assured her, “Elder sister! I understand!”
Lin Dong didn’t leave that night and stayed over at Shao Chengzhi’s house, only leaving for school after breakfast the next day.
Before he left, he promised Lin Xia that he would visit whenever he could, and this sumr, instead of going to Grandpa Qin Zeming’s place, he would stay and keep Lin Xia company until she gave birth.
Of course, Lin Xia had no objections; having Lin Dong by her side at least ant she wouldn’t feel lonely and isolated in Lu Zheng’s absence.
Lu Zheng stayed at ho for two days before he had to go back. Though Lin Xia was reluctant to let him go, they had to part ways.
She repeatedly gave him words of advice, and Lu Zheng listened patiently each ti, wishing ti would slow down so he could spend a little longer with his wife and child.
…
After Lu Zheng left, Lin Xia’s days were calm and orderly.
To make her delivery relatively easier, she took daily walks in the courtyard with Shao irou to exercise.
Shao Chengzhi often joined them.
However, he wasn’t in great health and at first, he walked quite slowly.
To everyone’s surprise, after walking like this for a few days, Shao Chengzhi seed to walk with more vigor and less effort each day.
Shao irou and Lin Xia were both pleased with the old man’s improvent.
The Lu Family, including Lu Guangqi, were of course aware that Lin Xia had returned to prepare for childbirth.
That day, Lu Guangqi brought so mbers of the Lu Family with gifts to visit Lin Xia at Shao Chengzhi’s house.
Among the visitors were Song Wanjun, Lu Qing, and Lu Shuhui, with Fang Youlan notably absent.
After exchanging pleasantries, everyone sat down for a chat.
Shao Chengzhi, unaware of the past conflict between Shao irou and her mother-in-law, casually inquired, “In-laws! How co your mother didn’t co along?”
