He refused to believe it was her period and insisted she was just trying to hide her injury until she had to scold him to calm down since he was stressing her out from all the panicking.
Ferdinand finally believed when he summoned a doctor and they assured him she was indeed just on her period.
It was quite funny when Arabella looked back on it.
Yet, despite what happened then, Ferdinand still mistook her to be injured now. That was how much he worried about her wellbeing so he ends up concluding wrong before he thinks about it rationally.
"I’m fine. Sotis it hurts but I feel fine today. I don’t have the cramps so it should be fine," Arabella assured him.
"But you’re bleeding so much," Ferdinand looked at her with worry.
[The scent of blood is so strong.]
"Is it really that strong?! I just changed though," Arabella worried the others would be able to pick up the scent as well. "Would the others be able to sll it?"
"Rendell and the other’s who have sharp senses would. But normal n wouldn’t unless you get near them," Ferdinand replied honestly.
It made Arabella not want to go out. It felt like she reeked of blood coming from her crotch and it would be awkward for them.
But Rendell and Alwin have not comnted at all so they must be used to this by now.
Arabella assured herself that her maids also get their monthlies so she was not the only one they would have been able to sll.
"I already used so fragrances to hide the scent. Maybe, I should use more," Arabella went to her drawer.
"Did you also use the one I gave you?" Ferdinand inquired.
He had given her a fragrance to apply during her period.
Back then, he said that it would weaken and mask the scent so Rendell and the other knights who guard her would not be alard thinking she was also injured.
"Yes. But its scent is mild though so I used other fragrances as well," Arabella scratched the back of her head guiltily.
She did not want Ferdinand to feel bad so she still uses it with the other fragrances that went along with it.
"Ah, that’s because it’s like a magic spell. If you use it, other n from the long-lived races aside from would not be able to pick up the scent of your blood anymore," Ferdinand clarified.
Now she understood why Alwin and Rendell did not react earlier when she went to the dining hall. They did not notice the scent due to the fragrance that worked like masking magic.
Arabella was relieved they were not able to pick up the scent of her monthlies since they were the ones who were guarding her all the ti.
[Even her blood slls sweet and tempting. I don’t want them getting a whiff of it. And it did taste sweet the tis I bit her to spread so of my own poison in her system to strengthen her resistance. Wait, she could hear my thoughts. She might think I’m a pervert.]
"I didn’t an it in a sexual way. It’s just, if I was back to the ti when I still drink blood, I might suck at your neck and drink a mouthful," Ferdinand said sothing even more alarming.
"You suck blood?!" Arabella was taken aback at this revelation.
"There was a ti that I and the other dragons did. When we kill our prey, we suck their blood to kill them faster or spread venom through their bloodstream. Or just do it because we want to. I an— Ah, what am I saying? It must be terrifying to you. Please forget what I said," Ferdinand took back his words.
"Oh, I see. I see. It’s alright. As long as you don’t do it now. I’m not so kind of food walking to your den," Arabella recalled the tales about dragons she had heard.
Hearing about this from Ferdinand himself, she could see that so of the things in those tales were indeed true.
"Yes, of course. I don’t do it now. It had been so long since the last ti. I barely even recall it," Ferdinand quickly said.
"I see. Don’t worry about it then. And thank you for giving that fragrance to . If it works as you said, then I’m glad I have been using it," Arabella smiled.
After that, they headed to Ferdinand’s study since they received a letter from the King of Crux.
Arabella hoped it was words of surrender so they wouldn’t need to shed blood.
But reality was much more cruel than that.
The King of Crux simply inford them that they could not return the all Prudencians since the nobles refused to yield them.
The King asked for an extension so he could persuade the nobles.
Now Arabella understood even more why Princess Seraphina and Prince Sebastian had to go as far as striking a deal with them.
Their father do not take a strong stance and simply diate despite their kingdom getting in danger because his current wife and younger children were all in the Pro-slavery faction.
Thus, even if the twins wait for years, change in Crux would be too slow if their siblings beco the next rulers.
They might even continue the slavery in secret even after the 10 years agreent in the abolishnt of slavery agreed upon in deus.
"Heh, we have given them ample ti and yet they still ask for an extension?" Ferdinand chuckled darkly.
It was as if they were not considering his warnings and declarations seriously.
The King of Crux was not worrying about the entirety of their kingdom. Or even if he did, he did not take a stance since he did not want to anger his wife and children.
"If the anti-slavery faction did not make a deal with us, we would not be showing them any rcy. The knights hate being disrespected this much," Ferdinand smirked.
"Indeed," Arabella agreed. She knew that knights prided themselves in Valeria’s continuous victories. They would not accept being treated like this.
