"Please allow to heal it, Your Majesty," Riley offered. He was afraid Alwin would scold him once he sees Arabella had reddened cheeks from slaps after he left for only a few minutes.
Ferdinand’s wrath would be even more terrifying once he sees it. He was still in a eting with the other kings, but he might be back soon.
’Was it that bad? I didn’t even do it with force,’ Arabella asked for a mirror and was surprised her cheeks were still red indeed.
’Oh, right. My skin is sensitive. How could I forget? This was why Ferdinand’s kisses on my body leave marks.’
She keeps forgetting she was still in her young body. Her skin was supple and tender at this age.
Riley then healed her cheeks to remove the redness since it was taking too long to go away. Ferdinand or Alwin might return any minute.
Arabella then decided to focus on the work that had piled up on her table.
Alwin returned a few minutes later but he was thinking about work as well so she could no longer ask him more questions about Evania or the other continent.
. . .
Arabella was working on so docunts when the door of her study burst open along with her husband’s urgent voice.
"Arabella?!"
"Dear, you’re back. What’s wrong? Did sothing happen?" she rose to greet him.
Ferdinand walked to her in a few huge strides and wrapped her in his arms. He squeezed her tight.
’Did sothing happen at the eting?’
Ferdinand’s hugs were usually tight, but this was a bit much. She couldn’t breathe against his sturdy chest for a bit. And he seems to be forgetting he was still wearing his formal attire with the dals and brooches. It could get caught in her hair.
"Oh, I’m so sorry," he loosened his arms when he noticed. But this ti, he drew her at arm’s length and eyed her from head to foot. Then, he began sniffing her.
"Um, Ferdinand?" Arabella had to remind her husband that Alwin was still there with them, but her husband didn’t get it. Or didn’t care.
Alwin pretended as if he didn’t exist and just continued silently reading a docunt.
"I heard you t King Chester. Did he do or say anything weird to you? Did he dare touch you?" Ferdinand sniffed even her hands. He was relieved when he didn’t pick up Chester’s scent on her.
[Hmm, but this scent. It belongs to one of her maids. Why would a maid need to touch her?]
’My bad. I forgot he could sll people on . Thankfully, it’s just Renee. He doesn’t get jealous of won, right?’
"I just happened to encounter him and his wife while taking a walk in the flower gardens of the Grand Palace," Arabella clarified.
"I see," Ferdinand was relieved Chester was with Fatima. But sothing else annoyed him.
[That bastard! He intentionally provoked by talking about it as if he and my wife spent several hours together.] Ferdinand grimaced. He truly didn’t like Chester either.
"Why? What did he tell you?" Arabella wondered how King Chester could have twisted their short encounter into sothing like a date.
Her mother would be horrified if she hears about it.
"Oh, nothing much. He simply exaggerated things as if he was with you for hours in the flower garden," Ferdinand’s ears turned red when he realized he made the coachman hurry ho for nothing.
If this wasn’t deus, he would have ridden his own horse and hurried to the mansion. He almost summoned Riley or Alwin too but didn’t since he had already assigned them tasks to do.
Ferdinand apparently happened to pass by Chester as he was about to go ho, and the latter apparently said so many words of praise for Arabella.
It ant Arabella had already caught Chester’s interest. He was known to chase after won he liked, and most have fallen for him.
[He’s more than twice Arabella’s age. Not that I have any right to comnt about age. But even though he still had the looks, he doesn’t belong to the type my wife prefers. But he might do shady things just to get his hands on her.]
King Chester also said that Ferdinand was so lucky to have married the fairest lady in Eliora despite not putting much effort to get her to his side. It irritated Ferdinand since he already regretted so much how he proposed marriage to her.
Moreover, Chester even said Arabella looked like a pure white lily amidst flowers already taken by the heat of sumr and if not given enough attention, it could be taken by sothing else.
It irked Ferdinand so much since Chester was hinting at the fact that Arabella and Ferdinand hadn’t gone all the way yet. And Chester was implying that if Ferdinand couldn’t do it, the forr could do it for him.
Chester sohow knew at first glance upon seeing Arabella. She heard about it from his thoughts earlier as well. She didn’t understand how he knew either, but he was able to tell.
"Please avoid that bastard as much as possible," Ferdinand could no longer hide his disdain.
"Yes, of course. I don’t like that King either," Arabella said, and Ferdinand finally smiled.
[But I still have to be vigilant. His wife was with him earlier so he could not see or do anything. But what about next ti?] Ferdinand was once again worried about things.
{Alwin, this is exactly why I had you stay by her side. How could you have allowed that man to see her? You could have diverted his attention to sothing else.} Ferdinand vented on Alwin who was silently doing so work on a table near Arabella’s.
{My apologies, Your Majesty. It was due to my lack of foresight. I will definitely be more careful next ti.}
Alwin instantly apologized especially since he sensed Ferdinand’s sour mood hadn’t subsided yet.
[I can’t possibly admit, I was lost in thought, so I was not able to prevent them from eting. I sensed people approaching but I didn’t expect it was them. And now, Evania got to et them much earlier than before.]
