It was clear from Nadia’s older brothers’ appearance that they had indeed gone through tough tis.
They all had a muscular build from working hard as rcenaries for years and from their background as forr warriors.
Bernardo, now the eldest had an eyepatch in one eye. He got injured in a mission to kill monsters and lost his sight in his left eye.
Miguel and Manuel both lost half an arm each also from hunting monsters. They also had scars on their faces from forr injuries.
The other warriors also had scars and signs of injury here and there but their eyes all looked resolute.
"Please forgive our unsightly appearance. We had been battling monsters the past months."
Bernardo, Miguel, Manuel, and the warriors of Safiro bowed to Arabella and Raymond in apology.
From Bernardo’s thoughts, Arabella learned that Nadia’s siblings along with the other warriors had kept trying to enter Safiro two months after Nadia was caught.
After a lot of trial and error, they began to slowly succeed in countering the traps the magician had set up along the borders of Safiro.
However, when Bernardo, Miguel, and Manuel succeeded to get through all the traps, a monster suddenly appeared and attacked them.
They almost lost their lives sandwiched between the monster and the traps but they succeeded in killing the monster in the end.
When they tried to push forward to at least check on the situation in Safiro, more monsters appeared and they barely survived.
Since then monsters kept appearing along the borders of Safiro and they also often got hired to eliminate the said monsters if they go out of the Safiro borders and venture to the villages nearby.
Bernardo had ford his own rcenary group comprised of people from Safiro and they had gained so popularity due to their skills with the sword and martial arts. They beca a reliable rcenary guild so they often got hired for various missions.
Bernardo accepted most jobs since they were saving up as much as they could for the ti they could send supplies to Safiro again.
"It’s alright. Your appearances speak of your strength and unwavering spirit despite tough tis. I comnd you for doing your best for Safiro and all these children all this ti," Arabella responded.
They were the kind of rcenaries Arabella could approve of, unlike Gulliver’s rcenaries.
"His Majesty would surely praise your tenacity and fortitude. Using your skills for your people regardless of what happens to you in these trying tis is admirable," Raymond also comnded them.
Bernardo and the warriors were moved to tears but held it in. No one ever praised them for what they were doing.
All this ti, they were all just trying their hardest to survive and keep their people alive not knowing whether what they were doing was right or wrong.
They had stopped thinking about whether killing soone for a fee was alright or not. All they wanted was to keep earning to have sothing to send to Safiro.
But to Arabella, no matter what, she admired their continued care and support for their people who were left suffering in Safiro. They didn’t just think of themselves after they got out of Safiro but also everyone who was left behind.
Nadia introduced the children next and the ones she thought were three to four years old were actually four to eight years old. Those who looked six to ten years old were actually nine to thirteen years old. And those who looked thirteen to fourteen were actually fourteen to eighteen years old.
They all looked smaller than their age because of previously suffering from malnutrition and other illnesses.
They only began to recover once they were brought to Cordelia and their bodies were just beginning to grow normally again since they were finally able to have proper als here and just the right amount of exercise and work.
Arabella internally noted to have Count Cordelia rewarded for helping to support these children and keep them safe from Count Dempsey and his n.
After all, Count Elirion and the leaders in Prudencia who helped the people during tis of need were also rewarded for their good deeds.
Count Cordelia definitely deserved to be comnded and rewarded as well.
Bernardo and the warriors agreed to remain in Cordelia to help in every way they could in preparing food for the people in Safiro or in packing vegetables to be sent to their territory soon.
Bernardo also sent a ssage to their comrades in other territories to head to Cordelia in haste to help them.
Arabella then assigned Nadia to help Count Cordelia manage the food preparation in Cordelia Castle.
anwhile, she planned to have Ivan assigned to Arno Palace.
"Thank you very much for all your help, Your Majesty," Nadia and everyone else bowed so low. Almost everyone from Safiro had tears in their eyes in relief and joy that their land, their families, and their tribesn would finally stop suffering from everything they had been through all these years.
Everyone hoped that their families had survived so far and would reunite with them soon.
"It is my responsibility as the Empress. And all I did was visit Safiro. Wait until you go ho to Safiro and finally reunite with everyone. At that ti, I will accept your gratitude. Moreover, if you have to thank soone, thank Nadia first for doing her best in the exams. If not for her becoming my assistant, I wouldn’t have thought of visiting Safiro."
Arabella knew so of them would be disappointed to discover so or every one of their family mbers had died. Still, so would be happy to reunite with their families.
They were not able to save everyone, but at least they were finally able to put a stop to the rciless madness going on in Safiro. And all these people who had to escape from their beloved holand in order to live would finally be able to return ho soon.
Safiro would need a lot of ti to recover, but Arabella internally swore she would ensure that they have the Imperial Palace’s support all the way until they can finally stand on their own feet again as they used to be as independent and strong warriors.
