At the break of dawn, the two heavy northern gates of Four Symbols City slowly opened amidst a cloud of dust.
A few young Dark Practitioners holding City Lord Tokens led a dozen Cal Elephants out of the city.
Had it not been for the confirmation that the two n and one woman indeed held the City Lord Tokens, the city guards at the north gate would never have allowed these Dark Practitioners, who hadn’t even reached Dark Heavenly level, to leave the city.
This group was the three mbers of the July Team who had accepted the grocery store owner’s task of transporting grain.
Shalman rode on the back of a recently born pink baby Eagle Elephant, circling above the city gate.
Though the Eagle Elephant was just born, its adaptability was strong. After just two or three hours of training, it could fly like an adult hawk.
Qian Luo sat on the back of a Cal Elephant.
The Cal Elephant is a hybrid Dark Beast, having a long trunk like an elephant but with humps on its back resembling a desert cal.
Cal Elephants have astounding defensive power and strong load capacity, often used in dinsion battlefields to transport the wounded or supplies.
The grocery store owner looked apprehensive, repeatedly reminding Yue Jinghua of the precautions during the journey. She doubted the capability of Yue Jinghua and the two new helpers, who hadn’t even reached Dark Heavenly level. Such a mixed army couldn’t be trusted easily.
Yet Yue Jinghua was confident, assuring the safe delivery of the supplies.
Ti was tight, and the owner couldn’t find willing Dark Practitioners to venture toward the Boundary River, so she had to give Yue Jinghua the maps of that area.
"Set off," said Yue Jinghua with a graceful leap onto the Cal Elephant.
Shalman blew a loud whistle from the back of the Eagle Elephant, and the orderly steps of the Cal Elephants began advancing towards the boundless, desert-like battlefield. With a loud creak, the northern city gate closed behind them, blocking the view of the grocery store owner and city guards.
North from the northern gate, about ten miles away, one day and night’s journey would reach the Boundary River.
Due to the sudden nature of the transport mission, Yue Jinghua only had ti to roughly inspect the terrain.
The area was desolate, with sparse vegetation due to the climate, leaving stones exposed on sandy soil, brittle as cookies, crumbling with a pinch.
Shalman rode the Eagle Elephant, weaving in the sky, while Yue Jinghua and Qian Luo kept a vigilant eye on their surroundings, with Yue Jinghua’s spiritual power silently probing ahead.
"Stop," Yue Jinghua commanded, halting abruptly, eyes warily fixed on the plains ahead.
The plains looked flat and indistinguishable from those they had passed earlier.
With the infiltration of Yue Jinghua’s spiritual power, about a ter below the surface, she discovered a shadow in the shape of a "乂".
She signaled to Shalman, who understood imdiately, and several Colorful Spiders hurried across the plains.
"Poof, poof, poof" Even as agile as the Colorful Spiders were, the mont they touched that plain, terrifying antlers like Hidden Deer Antler thrust out from the ground.
Several Colorful Spiders were pierced through their bellies by the antlers, limbs breaking, spilling green liquid on the ground.
The entire process happened in an instant, so swift even the most skilled of Dark Practitioners found it hard to react, explaining why even Dan Realm experts had been injured here before.
After slaughtering a few passing Colorful Spiders, the "乂" shaped antlers retracted underground, the plain restored to its previous state, the spider remnants the only evidence of the deathly nature of this land.
Similar plains were scattered within this re ten-mile stretch from Four Symbols City to the Boundary River.
Their locations unclear, the number of hidden antlers unknown, making this grain transport route treacherous.
Having witnessed that earlier scene, the Cal Elephant group grew agitated.
Noticing this, Shalman gently patted the Eagle Elephant beneath him, which emitted a thunderous trumpet with its long nose, calming the restless creatures which soon knelt quietly on the ground.
Yue Jinghua leaped from the back of a Cal Elephant, a solemn look on her face as she gazed upon the plains.
A day passed, and within the Sun District City Lord Mansion of Four Symbols City, a small storm was brewing.
The grocery store owner was ashen, trembling on the ground. She knew if the grain was intact, all would be fine; if not safely delivered, consequences would be dire. She regretted agreeing to Yue Jinghua’s request, entrusting novices with the transport.
After Yue Jinghua and the group left the north gate with the Cal Elephants, the city guards who let them leave felt unsure and reported back to the City Lord Mansion.
Coincidentally, City Lord Changsun was lecturing mbers of the Holy Beast Team, delaying so ti.
By the ti City Lord Changsun received the news, a day and night had passed, and the team was already far gone, making it too late to send soone in pursuit even if they wanted to.
City Lord Changsun ordered the injured Dan Realm expert brought in, and after hearing his description, confird the presence of Hidden Deer Antlers in the plains.
Hearing the city guard’s report, City Lord Changsun realized those who left were newcors from the Four Unlikes Team.
The matter stemd from the City Lord Token of Bai Sheng, the old rascal causing trouble. In haste, he ordered preparations to go collect the corpses.
"This is absurd, why wasn’t sothing so significant reported to the City Lord Mansion? With Hidden Deer Antlers, not even Dark Heavenly, let alone three Dan Realms, could survive."
A day and night passed, and the newcors were likely beyond dead, though rely duty soldiers, the issue wasn’t significant.
Just as City Lord Changsun’s team was about to set off, news arrived from the Boundary River stationed army.
"The grain has been delivered!"
Kneeling on the ground, the grocery store owner, already in despair, shot up, wondering if her ears deceived her. Was the grain truly delivered?
Even City Lord Changsun was incredulous; did a few at Dark Heavenly level really get through the Hidden Deer Antler ambush? Weren’t there supposed to be so many antlers, enough to stop an entire elephants’ group, not to ntion mosquitoes?
"Bring those people to the City Lord Mansion imdiately upon their return to the city," City Lord Changsun ordered, baffled. Since the grain was delivered, no words were left, dismissing the grocery store owner with a scolding.
At Bai Residence, upon hearing the news, Hundred Victories Strategist Bai Sheng stroked his beard and smiled mysteriously.
