When faced with life and death, most people, thinking they were going to die anyway, would fight desperately and throw all caution to the wind. That was when chaos could most easily erupt—killing, injuring, looting—they would stop at nothing. All just to survive.

"By the way, Young Miss, will you still accept patients?" Wuyou asked cautiously.

Ever since the Young Miss announced she would no longer accept patients, many people with difficult diseases had co to the dical Clinic seeking help. However, the Young Miss refused to see them. Wuyou could only handle a few, as she had learned rely the basics from her Young Miss. Most cases, however, were still beyond her abilities, so she had to rely on the dicinal pills her Young Miss had personally concocted.

Fortunately, the Young Miss’s pills were miraculously effective, and Wuyou, by passing herself off with her Young Miss’s reputation as a divine doctor, had cured many people.

Now, the divine doctor of the Gu dical Clinic was renowned far and wide.

"If there are patients who absolutely require surgery, you can accept them. I estimate I’ll be in Qiyang County until early spring," Gu Qingli mused for a mont before replying. That gave her two to three months, and earning so silver in the anti wouldn’t hurt.

"Wonderful!" Wuyou’s eyes curved with her smile; if her Young Miss was seeing patients, it ant she would have more opportunities to learn her miraculous dical skills.

"Young Miss, you should get so rest. We’ll keep watch," Wuqing said, nudging Wuyou. This chatterbox had been talking to their Young Miss non-stop since they boarded the carriage.

Their Young Miss hadn’t slept at all the previous night, having spent it in the Peach Blossom Spring preparing dicines, and she had barely rested today either.

"Alright. Wake if anything happens." Gu Qingli was indeed exhausted and sleepy; she had wanted to sleep even before their al.

After saying this, she leaned against the carriage wall and closed her eyes.

The carriage was wide and soft, allowing Gu Qingli to quickly fall asleep.

Suddenly, the carriage ca to an abrupt halt, jolting Gu Qingli awake.

"Shh, Young Miss, don’t make a sound!" Wuqing hurriedly stopped Gu Qingli from speaking.

Gu Qingli saw their grave expressions, as if they were facing a formidable enemy, and pricked up her ears to listen to the sounds outside.

Who would want to rob this group of penniless disaster victims in the middle of the night?

Just as Gu Qingli was wondering about this, Yun No. 15 spoke from outside the carriage.

"Please show yourself!"

"Hahaha... Xiao Yunjing’s people are indeed formidable."

"Qingchen!" Hearing this voice, Gu Qingli felt a chill run down her spine.

Outside, Qingchen waved his hand.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH! Dozens of figures flew out, surrounding Gu Qingli’s carriage.

"Li’er, co out. I know you’re in the carriage," Qingchen’s gentle voice sounded.

He was certain his chance had co. Even if Xiao Yunjing sprouted ten pairs of wings and flew over, he wouldn’t make it in ti. This ti, he had made thorough preparations and was confident Gu Qingli would not escape his grasp.

Inside the carriage, Gu Qingli sighed. This lunatic was like a persistent ghost, impossible to shake off. To think he’d still co after her after all this ti.

She rose to her feet.

"Young Miss! Don’t go, we will protect you with our lives!"

Wuqing and Wuyou imdiately blocked her path.

"Act according to the situation!"

Gu Qingli patted their hands. If she didn’t go out to face him, that madman would surely use the refugees following them as leverage. Besides, even if she did go out, what could Qingchen do to her? This ti was different from the last. She was actually looking forward to seeing what end he would et.

Unable to dissuade her, Wuqing and Wuyou could only flank her, one on each side, to protect her.

Gu Qingli lifted the curtain and stepped onto the carriage’s footboard. Her gaze fell upon Qingchen, dressed in white, standing before the carriage.

In the flickering light of the carriage lamps, he looked like a phantom.

Psycho!

Gu Qingli cursed inwardly.

With a ntal command, a packet of dicinal powder appeared in each of her hands, which she then pressed into Wuqing’s and Wuyou’s palms.

The two won gripped the packets almost imperceptibly; they understood how their Young Miss intended to deal with these people.

Gu Qingli alighted from the carriage, with Wuqing and Wuyou following closely behind.

The three of them, master and servants, approached Qingchen. He scrutinized Gu Qingli. Her disheveled appearance, far from diminishing her delicate beauty, made her look all the more pitiable.

"Young Master Qingchen, I’m here," Gu Qingli said flatly.

"Mm, very good. You know what to do."

Gu Qingli shook her head. "I don’t. Are you here for money or for ? State your intentions clearly. But if you’re thinking of taking , you’d better think it through carefully."

That damn psycho! Who does he think he is to her? Saying ’she knows.’ She knew nothing of the sort!

Gu Qingli truly wanted to restrain this psycho, perform a craniotomy on him, and see if one of his cranial nerves was wired incorrectly.

Qingchen squinted at the nonchalant woman before him, a sudden urge to strangle her rising within him.

Money or ? And she told him to think it through first. This damn woman definitely ca prepared.

And she even dared to threaten him!

Considering her incredible dical skills—and it was said that dicine and poison were two sides of the sa coin—concocting a potent poison would be no difficult feat for her. He had overlooked this point.

Qingchen frowned deeply and glanced at one of his Secret Guards. That Secret Guard’s figure flashed as he was about to move towards the rear of the carriage convoy.

Wuqing and Wuyou had been watching Qingchen intently. Seeing his glance towards his n, they knew what he intended.

Wuqing snorted coldly and moved simultaneously. She leaped onto the roof of their carriage, and with a flick of her hand, a packet of dicinal powder drifted down towards the black-clad Secret Guards surrounding them.

At the sa ti, Wuyou threw a packet of powder towards Qingchen.

Qingchen executed an evasive maneuver, putting a good three ters between them in an instant, yet he was still caught by so of the powder Wuyou had thrown.

Wuyou’s lightness skill was also considerable. Her eyes glinted sharply as she pursued him, scattering another packet of powder.

Qingchen’s face, contorted with rage, turned as black as the bottom of a pot. He simply turned and fled.

He had no idea what this powder was; even his protective aura had failed to shield him completely. So of the powder had been inhaled, and his internal energy was rapidly draining away.

What a potent powder! He had gravely miscalculated.

When the Secret Guards saw their master fleeing, and so of them having also inhaled the powder, they abandoned their posts and pursued Qingchen.

Gu Qingli clapped her hands and returned to the carriage, Wuqing and Wuyou following her.

"Hehe, Young Miss, your dicinal powder is truly incredible!" Wuyou exclaid, laughing joyfully. She had thought they were all dood tonight, yet they had routed the enemy without suffering a single casualty.

Gu Qingli shot her a look. Did Wuyou think she hadn’t co prepared? She had long prepared a ’hundred-poison feast’ especially for Qingchen. "Did you think your Young Miss is a fool? That I wouldn’t learn from past experiences?"

"Hehe, our Young Miss is brilliant! Our Young Miss is formidable!"

Silly girl!

Gu Qingli retrieved two more packets of powder from her interdinsional Space. "Take so of this first, then give so to Yun No. 15."

"Oh, okay."

After Wuyou and Wuqing took so of the powder and Wuqing administered so to Yun No. 15, they were again amazed by its potency. Their Young Miss’s powder was so potent! Even though they had held their breath and were protected by their true qi, the powder had still managed to seep into their bodies.

Afterward, Gu Qingli divided the remaining powder into several packets and distributed them among their group. She had overlooked this precaution before, but it was better to be prepared.

Then, they set off once more on their journey.

「Elsewhere.」

After Qingchen regrouped with his Secret Guards, they quickly found a secluded place to try and expel the poison.

But the poison was like maggots gnawing at their bones; no matter how they tried to force it out, it wouldn’t budge.

In less than the ti it takes for half an incense stick to burn, those who had inhaled the powder had lost all their internal energy and were completely paralyzed.

"Young Master," Secret Guard No.1 said with a bitter laugh as he carefully laid the paralyzed Qingchen onto a large cloak.
