Chapter 5 First Rebate Reward!

At Kowloon Mansion, Alo sat in his study, analyzing the current situation on Hong Kong Island. The decline of the British colonial leadership wasn’t sothing that happened overnight, and for now, they remained powerful. However, now that Alo had awakened his mories, he knew that the fall of the British was inevitable.

With the rise of the holand, the world’s power dynamics would be reshuffled. The “White Eagle” across the ocean would gradually consu the last glimrs of the British Empire. So, what Alo had to do now wasn’t to confront the British high-ups directly.

Instead, he needed to hold back, quickly complete his own “clean-up” process. Because in a few years, as the holand grew more powerful, the British would beco impatient, eager to seize every bit of profit they could.

Whatever the Chinese detectives had accumulated now would eventually be taken back. The establishnt of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) would mark the beginning.

“The ICAC should be established in ten years.”

“Ten years is enough.”

Alo looked at the paper in front of him, which listed the current gangs on Hong Kong Island. Controlling the gangs wasn’t the problem, the real issue was avoiding the drug trade. That was the red line, the bottom line.

In the past, Alo had only cared about rising to power, but now, with his mories awakened, he knew he had to make changes.

“Fortunately, the timing of my decisions was good.”

“In a few years, even if I want to reverse course, I won’t be able to.”

“For now, I’ll wait for feedback from Huo Dong.”

Alo folded up the paper, burned it, and then went to rest. Because of his earlier words, Hong Kong Island’s underground world had beco a boiling pot of activity.

All the major and minor gangs were preparing vigorously, waiting for the mont the reorganization would happen. However, they waited and waited, but the other shoe never dropped.

Alo went about his daily routine—work during the day and ti with his wife at night—seemingly forgetting what he had said that day in the restaurant.

Half a month later, this morning, when Alo woke up, he suddenly felt a strange change in his body!

【The national luck of the Sumr Kingdom has increased, national luck value 51 → 56】

【Effect of ‘Resting with the Nation’ activated】

【Your physical fitness has improved】

【You have received the national luck improvent reward】

【You have triggered the first-ti activation reward, activating the double reward】

【Two golden immunity cards, each capable of blocking one fatal injury】

【Investnt amount doubled (reward wealth does not affect the binding nation)】

【You have received a special reward】

【Dominance: Trait reward, people whose ntal willpower is weaker than yours will be deterred by your presence, their spirits suppressed】

A series of ssages flashed in Alo’s mind, almost overwhelming him. But soon, he started to laugh, a broad smile forming on his face. His wife, Bai Yue, was woken up by his laughter, and before she could open her eyes, she was swept up into his arms.

Then ca a vigorous morning exercise that left Bai Yue exhausted. anwhile, Alo, feeling refreshed, got up and headed to his study. He checked the rewards he had received.

The Immunity Card didn’t have a physical form but was directly bound to him. It would activate automatically if he received a fatal injury, without needing any additional steps. This was particularly useful for assassination attempts, as it solved his greatest danger.

Additionally, the 50 million Hong Kong dollars he had invested in the holand had now doubled, turning into 100 million!

He could either convert this amount into cash or deposit it into a bank account. 100 million Hong Kong dollars was a huge sum, even in later years, and even more so now.

Even though this money couldn’t be used to invest directly in the holand for more rewards, it could be used to improve himself. Most importantly, he now had a brand-new way to acquire wealth!

He could use the rewards money to develop his business empire and earn regular profits. Then, he could reinvest the earned wealth into the holand for more returns. It was a positive feedback loop!

The underworld’s dirty money was no longer that important to him. This was the biggest gain for Alo—it truly freed him from his shackles and gave him wings.

As for the last special reward, the trait Dominance, it was fascinating. It was even more mysterious than the Immunity Cards, as it allowed him to directly intimidate others.

In situations like business dealings or negotiations, this would have an unexpected effect. As Alo counted his gains, at the sa ti, on the border near Zhen Village in the mainland,

Huo Dong stood at the door of a guesthouse, smoking. He had used all the money Alo gave him to purchase industrial machines, which he had transported here. These machines arrived just in ti to replenish the holand’s industrial production capacity. For this, he received gratitude from the capital.

The capital also responded to Alo’s loyalty. He was now waiting for a liaison team to arrive from there. The capital needed to conduct a full evaluation of Lei Luo to decide whether to cooperate further. But no matter what, the capital would rember Lei Luo’s donation. It was just before dawn.

Huo Dong thought he had arrived early, but the other party arrived swiftly as well. A few n dressed in Zhongshan suits walked briskly out of the guesthouse.

When Huo Dong saw them, a surprised expression appeared on his face.

“Secretary Yang? You ca in person?”

“Yes, the leaders attach great importance to this eting, so I was sent.”

Huo Dong rubbed his face.

The man in front of him was soone he had seen before—Secretary Yang, a trusted aide of the leaders in the capital. Sending him in person showed how much the leaders valued this eting.

Huo Dong didn’t dare ask too many questions and imdiately led the way towards the pier. They would secretly enter Hong Kong Island by boat that day. Huo Dong had been running this route for many years, and smuggling people across was nothing new to him.

anwhile, on Hong Kong Island, early in the morning, Pig Oil Boy drove to the various gang headquarters. Soon, the major gangs were notified that the long-awaited reorganization eting would take place that evening. As for Alo, after arriving at the police station, he directly went to visit the newly arrived chief superintendent.

In the office, Jas, the chief superintendent in a white shirt, was leisurely trimming his nails. Alo didn’t hold back either and sat across from him confidently.

“Lei Luo, why aren’t you dealing with business matters? What brings you to ?”

Though Lei Luo was the Chief Detective, to Jas, he held no real power. Jas’ deanor was casual as he spoke, even while using a nail clipper. However, Alo wasn’t bothered. He simply took out his cigar, cut the tip, and lit it. After finishing the ritual, Alo looked up at Jas, and his smile disappeared instantly!

In that mont, Jas felt like a wild tiger had locked eyes with him. The calm and relaxed posture he had just shown vanished in an instant, and the nail clipper fell to the floor.

“Officer, there is an ancient saying in the Sumr Kingdom.”

“A strong dragon cannot overpower the local snake.”

“It’s not that the dragon isn’t strong, but the local snake always has so tricks up its sleeve.”

Alo took a puff of his cigar, and the red tip glowed brightly. His deanor was relaxed, but there was a powerful, domineering aura that made Jas freeze, unable to think of resisting.

“Lei Luo, what… Do you an by this?”
