Chapter 779: 524 Interviews
The smuggling group behind Wolfman, operated internationally, was no small outfit with considerable influence.
Gu Yecheng had spent quite a bit of ti and effort to locate them.
In a way, the breakthrough in this case was a trendous help to Gu Yecheng.
When Gu Yecheng got ho, he found that Xiaofeng had not yet gone to bed and her eyes were brimming with excitent.
“What happened that you are smiling so happily?” Gu Yecheng looked at her wide-awake deanor and asked.
“My mom just called,” Xiaofeng blinked at him, “she said my brother agreed to get engaged to Wenli. Isn’t that great news?”
Her brother had previously been opposed to the engagent, so now that he agreed, He Xii must be grinning from ear to ear.
“How did big brother co around?” Gu Yecheng asked with a light chuckle.
“Of course, the two of them must have fallen for each other. Otherwise, why would they get engaged so quickly?”
“That’s true. I’m going to take a shower,” he said, glancing at Xiaofeng, “When is the engagent? It’s such an important event for big brother, we should probably go back for it.”
“Mom said on the sixteenth.” The day after Lantern Festival.
“That’s the day after tomorrow then.”
“Yes, right.”
“Then we’ll find a way to make it back.” Gu Yecheng was quite proactive about his brother’s engagent.
“Alright.” It was indeed important enough to go back for big brother’s event.
After Gu Yecheng ca out of the bathroom, he noticed Xiaofeng was getting sleepy. He dried his hair and climbed into bed to cuddle with her to sleep.
“Sister, sister.” Early in the morning, Xiaonian ca over, bursting with excitent, “Sister, I’m going to an audition today. Co with .”
Lately, Xiaonian seed to be following a trend, suddenly wanting to beco an actor after hearing that so crews were auditioning.
In her own words, her grades weren’t good, and she probably didn’t have much hope for college. Of course, that was her take; if she still wanted to attend, her family certainly wouldn’t stop her.
“Going for real?” Xiaofeng, sipping porridge, looked at her, “I thought you were just joking. Did our parents agree?”
“I just told them I was going for fun, not seriously, so they let go,” Xiaonian sat down close to Xiaofeng: “Sister, what do you think about it?”
Xiaonian had that elfish mischief kind of beauty, delicate and pretty. Given ti, she was bound to beco a great beauty.
If Xiaonian decided to go for the audition, her chances of being selected were quite high.
“I think it’s not bad. If you get selected, you could absolutely beco famous with just one drama.”
“Really?” Xiaonian’s confidence soared upon hearing this: “That boosts my confidence a lot.”
“Not really,” Xiaofeng rolled her eyes at her, “you think becoming an actor is so easy? Just say you’ll beco one, and famous right away?”
“I just think it’s fun.” Xiaofeng stuck out her tongue: “Let’s not start on lessons, sister. Just co and see with . Shuiling is going too, we’re just going to check it out, not planning to get selected.”
“Alright, I don’t have much else today anyway.” Xiaofeng put down her bowl, “But let be clear, we are just going for fun, not to be taken seriously.”
“That’s the point, just for fun.”
Ayun drove Xiaonian and Xiaofeng to a small western-style building.
By then, many young n and won had gathered around the small western-style building, all there to audition for roles.
In a corner of the park at the building, a few caras were set up, and a man who resembled a director was discussing key points with the auditioners.
“This series is a key project I’m launching this year. If you’re selected, I guarantee you’ll be an overnight sensation,” the director enticed the aspiring actors, “So you must show your best skills. If I find them suitable, I will definitely keep you for the roles.”
Listening to the director’s enthusiastic speech, everyone seed even more eager, ready to give their all in the auditions.
When Xiaonian stepped inside, she frowned upon seeing the crowd: “Just a few roles, and so many competitors. The competition is fierce.”
Seeing them arrive, Shuiling jogged over: “Sister Xiaofeng, Xiaonian, you’re here. Xiaonian, hurry, it’s almost our turn, go change and put on makeup.”
The role Xiaonian was auditioning for was just a maid, and a nial one at that.
Hearing about the roles they were auditioning for, Xiaofeng’s mouth twitched. Young ladies auditioning for nial maids – was it them serving the masters, or the other way around? Xiaofeng was very curious about this.
Soon, Xiaonian and Shuiling had changed into very plain maid’s outfits.
Their faces were, of course, made to look plain.
None could let a maid’s beauty surpass that of her mistress.
Holding a pot of tea, Xiaonian approached one of the ‘young ladies’ respectfully, her voice stiff, “Young Lady, this is tea sent by Madam, she wanted you to try it.”
With a slap, the ‘Young Lady’ angrily knocked the basin from Xiaonian’s hands, and the teacup crashed to the floor.
The scalding tea splashed onto her hand, burning a large patch instantly.
Xiaonian’s face imdiately crinkled up.
The director had not ntioned this before; he had said it was just a prop, not to be taken seriously.
“Offering tea, I was sure she wasn’t so kind-hearted. Could it have been drugged?” the person playing the young lady stood up furiously.
Seeing Xiaonian’s reddening hand, Shuiling beca frantic, “Director, you said earlier that the tea pouring action was just a prop, right? This water is so hot, it burnt my friend’s hand. Look, her hand is all red.”
Shuiling looked at Xiaonian’s hand and felt a pang of heartache.
They were not here to suffer, yet looking at Xiaonian’s hand, all flushed and sore, when had Xiaonian ever suffered like this?
