Chapter 769: 517 Soone is kidnapping children
Xiaofeng was packing up; they were starting their journey tomorrow morning and were catching the evening flight.
He Xii was also packing, preparing so local delicacies for Chu Qing and his wife as well as for Xiaofeng to take ho.
The boy and girl twins were playing in the yard. Gu Dabao looked inside and beckoned to Xiaobao, “Sis, I saw a turtle in that pond over there yesterday, let’s go see if it’s still there.”
Gu Xiaobao looked inside, “Where? I didn’t see it.”
“Co on, it’s definitely still there, I’ll show it to you in a bit.” Gu Dabao rembered sothing and called out to Su Xiaofeng, “Mom, I’m taking my sister to play by the door for a while.”
“Don’t go too far.”
Gu Dabao took Gu Xiaobao’s hand and ran outside. The pond Gu Dabao ntioned was actually in soone’s yard, built by the hoowner themselves.
The hoowners had an open space by their entrance and hadn’t fenced off their yard, which had a not-so-large pond at the front with so fish and a big turtle in it; the owner wasn’t ho at the mont.
Seeing the children approaching, the hoowner’s big yellow dog imdiately snarled and ran over, but Gu Dabao made a shushing gesture, “Big Yellow, be quiet.”
Big Yellow, as if understanding the command, warmly waggled its tail as if greeting an old friend.
Dabao patted its head.
Big Yellow imdiately lay down obediently in front of Dabao.
“Bro, it really listens to you.” Xiaobao was astounded; her brother was so capable, taming such a fierce-looking dog so quickly.
Gu Dabao smiled sheepishly at his sister, “It likes us because we’re kids; it recognizes that and won’t hurt us.”
“Really? Can I pet it too?”
“Of course, you can.”
Gu Xiaobao imdiately stepped forward and stroked Big Yellow’s head, then grinned at her brother, “Its fur isn’t as soft and white as Bai Youbai’s. Brother, I miss Bai Youbai. I would have brought it with us; I hope the family is looking after it well.”
Bai Youbai’s fur was snow-white and very soft. It had been so days since they had seen Bai Youbai and they really missed it.
“Mom said we’re going back tomorrow, so you’ll see it when you get back,” Dabao said, seemingly untroubled by Xiaobao’s longing for Bai Youbai.
“Yes, I’ll see it after we get back tomorrow.”
The pair squatted by the pond, looking at a big turtle inside, about the size of a soup bowl, lazily lying in the water.
Not far off, a couple noticed the children by the pond. “Did you see that?” the woman said to the man, “Those kids are adorable.”
Of course, the man had noticed, “Such beautiful children would fetch a good price if sold.”
“Naturally, they look just like fairy children, the kind wealthy families love.”
“Here’s what we’ll do, you distract that dog and keep a lookout; I’ll go over and talk to those kids,” the woman told the man.
The man glanced around; the area was sparsely populated at the mont.
“You be quick,” he said.
He pulled a piece of fried fish from a bag and whistled a few tis at Big Yellow.
Big Yellow, who was napping, looked over upon hearing the whistle and saw a man not far off waving a piece of fried fish in his direction.
It ignored him and went back to sleep.
Seeing Big Yellow continue to sleep, the woman assud the dog wasn’t fierce and confidently approached Gu Dabao and Gu Xiaobao, “Where did such cute little children co from? You two are really beautiful.”
Gu Xiaobao looked at the woman, who wore a blue cotton jacket and had her hair in two thick braids, and crisply asked, “Auntie, are these your fish?”
The woman nodded, “Yes, yes, you like our turtles, don’t you?”
Gu Dabao, upon hearing the woman’s words, took his sister’s hand, “We were just passing by and stopped to have a look; we aren’t particularly fond of them.”
“Really? I thought you liked them. I know a place with several turtles bigger than this, where I can take you to catch so if you’d like,” the woman said, while pulling candy from her pocket, “Do you want so of this candy? It’s milk candy, very tasty.”
“Auntie, you aren’t trying to kidnap kids, are you?” Gu Dabao clutched his sister’s hand, “Our ho is just ahead.”
