Chapter 492: 395 Six more tis

Lin Jing left with the money, feeling triumphant.

Now, she’s got to make preparations, she was going to the Imperial Capital soon, and the re thought of it filled her with excitent.

As for her grandmother, she wasn’t so old that she couldn’t work, and besides, she certainly still had quite a bit of money hidden away. With her or without her, things would be the sa.

She was determined to show everyone that though Lin Jing was inconspicuous in Xijiang County, she would one day shine brightly in the Imperial Capital.

Watching her pack, Grandma Lin panicked, “Jingjing, are you going on a long trip? What will I do if you leave, your dad won’t be out for a while either.”

She and Lin Jing were each other’s only support, and if even Jingjing left her, she didn’t know what she would do.

“Grandma, the wages in Xijiang County are too low. I want to go outside and look around. Grandma, you just stay ho and rest easy. Once I earn big money out there, we will buy a new house and move into a big one. I don’t want to live in such a shabby rental house anymore. Grandma, don’t worry about , I’ll miss you,” Lin Jing consoled Grandma Lin.

“Jingjing, who are you going with, is it reliable? I’m telling you, it’s chaotic out there. There are many scam groups that specifically target pretty young girls. You must be careful.” Although Grandma Lin didn’t want Lin Jing to leave, Lin Jing was right; relying on the ager wages from their doorstep, it was hard for their family to get ahead.

She could only hope that Lin Jing would have a smooth journey as she went out into the world.

“Reliable, very reliable,” Lin Jing said with a twinkle in her eye. As the saying goes, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” That woman nad Lili wanted to find soone to deal with Su Xiaofeng, and coincidently, she didn’t want Su Xiaofeng to have it easy either. Weren’t they essentially friends?

“That’s good then. When are you leaving, and where are you going?”

“Alright, Grandma, don’t ask so many questions. In short, the place I’m going to this ti is definitely a big place. Once I make it big there, I’ll co back to get you and dad. Oh right, Grandma, do you have any money on you? Could you give so? I’m afraid that when I get there, being unfamiliar with the place, I won’t have enough money.” Although Yin Li had given her a thousand, what kind of place was the Imperial Capital? It was so expensive there, what good would such a small amount of money do?

She definitely needed to bring more money with her, not to ntion, once at the Imperial Capital, shouldn’t she dress a little better? If she didn’t look the part, how would she catch anyone’s eye?

Grandma Lin paused, “I do have so, but with you going away, I’ll inevitably need money if I get a headache or fever.”

With Jianguo still a while away from being released, and with no knowing when Lin Jing would be back, of course, she had to keep so money on hand.

“Could you give a thousand, Grandma? Rest assured, once I earn money, I will imdiately send it back ho, I definitely won’t leave you hungry. Don’t you know what kind of person I am? I might brush off others, but how could I ignore you and dad?”

“I might not have that much.” She had indeed saved so money, but since the Lin Family’s incident over half a year ago and with Lin Jing’s low wages from her job, it was hardly enough to cover their living expenses.

Money had been going out in dribs and drabs.

Besides, she had to keep so money on her: “Jingjing, I really don’t have much left. If you don’t have enough for the fare, mom can give you two hundred.”

Lin Jing’s face fell, just two hundred, what was that good for? But sothing was better than nothing: “Grandma, what’s two hundred good for? Just give five hundred straight up. Aren’t you afraid I’ll leave and not look after you? Rest assured, how could I not care about you? You’re my grandmother. Since I was little, the person I’ve loved the most is you,” Lin Jing started to act coquettishly.

She herself had been out of money for a long ti, apart from the thousand she had been given.

“Alright, take care of yourself out there,” said Grandma Lin, clenching her teeth and deciding to give Lin Jing five hundred. Indeed, it was difficult for a girl to make her way without money.

With the travel funds given by Grandma Lin, Lin Jing packed a travel bag and boarded the northbound train to the Imperial Capital.

Sitting on the train with a sense of trepidation, she gazed out the window and silently shouted in her heart, “Imperial Capital, here I co. You must wait for .”

With the wedding just around the corner, the newlywed pair, Xiaofeng and Ye Cheng, naturally had to buy so stuff for the occasion.

As they passed by a jewelry store, Xiaofeng signaled with her lips, “It says they can engrave the rings. Let’s go in and get so engraving done.”

Ye Cheng nodded his head.

At that wedding in Xijiang County, knowing well that their union couldn’t last, Xiaofeng insisted on not getting a ring but chose a necklace and other ornants instead.

“Sir, Madam, may I know what text you would like to have engraved?” The server started enthusiastically, “You can use the first letter of pinyin, English letters, or even Chinese characters.”

Xiaofeng promptly wrote down the words Ye Cheng, Xiaofeng.

She then inford the server to engrave the word Xiaofeng on the male ring and Ye Cheng on the female one. It may have been a bit tacky, but it was straightforward.

Ye Cheng naturally agreed with whatever his wife liked. The appearance of the rings was for others to see, but the engravings were for their own enjoynt.

After putting on the rings, they exchanged glances and shared a smile.

The server, watching the couple’s affectionate exchange, couldn’t help but feel envious, thinking to herself, “This must be what true love looks like.”

After choosing the rings, the natural next step was to head to the photo studio.

For Xiaofeng, of course, she wanted to have a series of photos with different styles. In her previous life, she never got married or had a wedding photoshoot, so she was determined to indulge herself in this era.

They eventually decided on five sets of clothing: ancient costus, wedding dresses, couple outfits, parent-child ensembles, and a casual style.

In that era, a whole series was not cheap, but Ye Cheng didn’t blink an eye, thinking that as long as his wife was happy, that was all that mattered.

Upon leaving the photo studio, Ye Cheng received a call about an urgent matter that needed his attention. Apologetically smiling at Xiaofeng, he said, “I had planned to spend the whole day with you, but it seems I have to break that promise.”

“Go ahead,” Xiaofeng said as she straightened his clothes, “You have to provide for the three of us, so work cos first.”

“I’ll call Ye Fei to co pick you up.”

“No need,” Xiaofeng waved him off, “I can just hail a rickshaw back. University Town is not far from here. Go on.”

Watching Ye Cheng leave, Xiaofeng raised her head to see a man standing in front of her, his sharp eyes behind sunglasses as piercing as the first ti she saw them.

Removing his sunglasses, the man greeted, “Young Madam Gu, long ti no see.”

Xiaofeng looked at him and sneered, “You’re that businessman who ca looking for that day, aren’t you?”

“You have good eyesight.” n Chao pointed towards a nearby café, “Let’s have a seat inside.”

After sitting down and ordering a glass of milk, Xiaofeng eyed him critically, “So you’ve decided to reveal yourself so soon, ready to make your move?”

“Not only does Young Madam Gu have sharp vision, but you’re also clever. You’ve figured out not only who I am but also my purpose. Indeed, when I initially approached you under the guise of partnership, I had no good intentions,” he admitted, as the partnership was only a ans to an end.

His true goal was to see what Su Xiaofeng was capable of.

“So, you’re appearing before all of a sudden now because you want to discuss so terms with ?” Xiaofeng’s eyebrows furrowed for a mont but then relaxed.

“Young Madam Gu, I’ve said before, you’re a smart woman, and one with plenty of ideas.” n Chao’s expression was cold as he continued, “We only have one goal: please leave Young Master Gu. You might not care about your family’s factory, but I’m sure you care about your relatives. I know the Quan Family is your maternal family, but what about the man from Lihua Village who raised you? Do you really plan to ignore him?”

“How co I, a woman raised in the countryside, instill such fear in you? You represent the Xu Family, and you coming to implies that Old Master Xu is afraid that my presence will disrupt his plans, is that right?” Xiaofeng’s smile was cold and devoid of warmth.

That n Chao could negotiate with her here only signified one thing—it showed that the other party was prepared and could take action against her father at any ti.

“You may not care about your stepmother or your elder brother, but you certainly can’t disregard Su Jianguo,” n Chao said, glancing briefly at Xiaofeng, “You indeed pose an unpredictable threat to Young Master Gu, and as such, we must be cautious. You should understand, this is a reshuffling of Imperial Capital’s power dynamics, and neither the Xu Family nor any other family wishing to partake in this uncertainty would welco your involvent.”

“An uncertainty?” Xiaofeng let out a cold laugh, “In the end, are you afraid? It makes sense, Ye Cheng is soone you can’t afford to provoke, and now with by his side, you think I’m his weakness. You believe that by controlling , you can control him, right?”

Threats were all a facade—the truth was, they either wanted her to disappear or to work for them.
