As Nanny Yun was bringing the tea over, she had just heard her mistress speak when the teacup she was carrying for Ju Nanyi clattered loudly as it was set down, creating a harsh and untily noise as it collided with the saucer.

"Pri Minister Ju, please enjoy the tea—" Nanny Yun said, masking her embarrassnt. Were her mistress’s words ant to create chaos in the empire?

Ju Nanyi was surprised that he was not as angry as he had imagined he might be. Perhaps it was because he had heard such "grating" comnts in his previous life and now they did not even rit leaving the room.

"Empress, this servant has certainly not forgotten your status." Ju Nanyi began, knowing in his previous life she had even ascended to the position of Empress Dowager. Ju Nanyi rose to his feet, aware that no amount of talking would convince the lady, his goal had been achieved, to convey his thoughts, "But please believe this servant, everything I do is for your sake, Empress."

Zheng Nianru was very surprised by the composed Ju Nanyi before her and by his words. He had not exploded in rage, like a monkey with its bottom burnt, turning and leaving.

Ju Nanyi even more unexpectedly bowed gracefully before turning to leave.

"Wait—" Zheng Nianru couldn’t sit still any longer. What was he doing? What did he an by those words?

If anyone else had spoken such words before Zheng Nianru, be it Nann Yu or Yin He, it should not have been Ju Nanyi.

Ju Nanyi showed no signs of stopping. His lack of anger did not an he wanted to hear the unpleasant words Zheng Nianru would say next, especially since he had already achieved his purpose.

Nian Xia wanted to step forward to stop Ju Nanyi, yet dared not.

Lord Ju’s serious deanor seed to shout, "Strangers keep out."

"Ju Nanyi, stop—" Zheng Nianru raised her voice, forgetting her lazy, easy-going deanor, standing up, the teacup in her hand nearly thrown.

"Empress—" Nanny Yun caught her mistress’s hand. It was not to be done.

Ju Nanyi paused slightly, wanted to turn but felt that turning might not be the right decision. Regarding the engagent, Ju Nanyi also knew clarity would co from Zheng Congyuan, yet he couldn’t help coming here first.

"Pri Minister—" Nian Xia stepped forward shakily. "The Empress is angry; you cannot go further."

Ju Nanyi stood still, not turning around. It was obvious that staying would an facing the lady’s anger, but not staying...

Alas...

Ju Nanyi turned around.

"This servant..."

"Clang clang—" The teacup smashed on the floor down Ju Nanyi’s arm, Nanny Yun could not stop it; the next mont, seeing it had not hit anyone, Nanny Yun sighed in relief, it was good no one was hurt.

"Pri Minister, this palace and the Emperor an well by choosing such a spouse for you, you should be grateful." Zheng Nianru’s words were ice-cold, fearful that, despite roundabouts, things had co full circle.

In this life, though things might not be as she wished, at least, there might still be a possibility between her and Zheng Congyuan, more than in her previous life.

Ju Nanyi looked up at Zheng Nianru, her thoughts as he expected, he tried to think from Zheng Nianru’s perspective, sothing he had never done in his previous life, and also tried accepting things he could not change, moving towards what he desired.

"My heart’s determination is clear and as firm as rock," Ju Nanyi slowly said, looking at the young lady before him, well aware of her immature thoughts underneath the luxurious silks, perhaps even more unaware of what true love between a man and a woman was.

Ju Nanyi, with all mories of his past life and vows of this life, she did not know.

Zheng Nianru was infuriated, suddenly feeling that the man before her made no sense at all, talking to him was like playing the lute to a cow.

"Lord Ju, I am already the Empress; why do you think I should accept your feelings?" Zheng Nianru stepped forward, slowly walking up to Ju Nanyi, her voice calm yet cold as ice.

It was ti to let him clearly understand her position.

Ju Nanyi answered with a slight smile.

"Empress, do you think the Fourth Prince’s rebellion was just a fluke? Or do you think highly of Nanzheng’s prospects? If another Fourth Prince appears, or another from the Aristocratic Gentry Clans. With the prophecy from Qiandao Temple and the Emperor’s illness, on what basis do you think..."

Zheng Nianru imdiately looked at Ju Nanyi. Was he threatening her?
